We Have Lost Hanzo Hasashi. (RANT) 

I really hate that they suddenly made Scorpion a mantle when it was specifically given to Hanzo Hasashi, there was no other Scorpion before him. Kuai Liang doesn't work as Scorpion, he lacks what makes the character interesting. Hanzo Hasashi and Kuai Liang are in my opinion the two most interesting characters in the lore, and I think they deserve to be the main protagonists. What made them so cool is the fact that the lore gave names to the men known as Scorpion and Sub-Zero, gave them awesome backstories, took time to develop them. While the writing for these characters was never perfect, what MK1 did just feels disrespectful to Hanzo AND Kuai.

It's always back to the point where making Sub-Zero into Scorpion did nothing for anyone. It made 0 people happy or interested, just ruined it for the rest of us.

Oh yeah and apparently NRS originally wanted to do a story revolving around Hanzo Hasashi, Bi-Han, and Kuai Liang and Kuai was supposed to be Tundra and Hanzo still Scorpion. That sound FAR more interesting than what we got

I've gotten use to the changes. I just hope Aftermath wraps up the "multiverse" stuff. I miss Hanzo for sure, but to have Bi-Han (Sub-Zero), Kuai Liang (as Tundra which is another cryomancer), Hanzo (Scorpion), & Smoke would be overkill. Plus, I think we've killed off Hanzo's family enough. I wish Hanzo was a character who we saw with his family in the New Era. That would've been a great way to wrap up his story arc. Hanzo being a cryomancer would be wild though.

I wish they made Hanzo Scorpion, whiling keeping Bi-Han as Sub Zero and give Kuai his old identity before coming sub zero; Tundra.

I wanted to embrace this change, keep an open mind, but I've been a longtime Scorpion fan. Hanzo has always been Scorpion for me. Passing it on to Kuai, who's a better Sub by far, was just their excuse to bring back an evil Sub-Zero.

Hanzo becoming Sub-Zero would be revolting. And plus, they were fucking up his character when they would try to take every bit of accountability away from him & refuse to give him any sort of consequence for the shitty stuff he did.

We might know the real life reason why Kuai Liang is Scorpion. However! (in universe) while making a New Era, why exactly did Liu Kang gave scorpion's identity to Kuai Liang? who here may have an explanation is to why Liu Kang did this?🤔

Bi-Han becomes Noob Saibot. Kuai Liang becomes Sub-Zero. Hanzo becomes Scorpion. Eventually, in the new era.

Big MK12 and new Hanzo hater. I knew this was going to suck since Dom confirmed Kuai as Scorpion. The domino effect of this change only gets worse. If Scorpion was Hanzo, we could have gotten to see a modernised tale of Takeda the original founder of the Shirai Ryu in MK12 Hanzo defecting from the Lin Kuei and having his rivalry with Bi Han. (I need to make some comics about my AU for this)

I'd love to see you make a deep dive of what Mortal Kombat 1 was originally about!!!! (Also in concept art for Sub-Zero he has a very similar face to his MK11 Counterpart with a faint scar, maybe Hanzo gave it to him during a dispute between the two that is now known as the Bi-Han and Kuai Liang fight we see in game?)

Kuai doesn’t work as scorpion at all. Scorpion is a title given to a warrior named Hanzo Hasashi not because of anything other then his own actions. Also because of the main fact Hanzo became scorpion because of the pain and hatred and malice he had in his heart. From what we can ascertain he has had a good life and loves his brother and father with all his heart. Therefore why the absolute fuck is he Scorpion he hasn’t gone through pain or struggle or the loss of loved ones. I guess you can then make the arguement that his father died and then his brother betrayed him turning him into this but from what we also understand he’s been scorpion in this timeline forever. This Scorpion makes no sense, it takes away everything that gave the character depth and meaning in my opinion. It feels so shitty that I know they are not going to do my favourite character the development he truly deserves for the rest of MK1 unfortunately. The devs have lost their passion and it shows.

Is it just me or is Kuai Liang the most boring scorpion of all time? like i completely understand ed boon wanting to change the identity for the plot but kuai liang hasn’t done nothing that makes him stand out for me to like him, imo i feel like he should’ve been tundra in this game and then later became sub when Bi-Han dies, it just makes more sense storyline wise, but it’s whatever i still enjoy mk1 regardless

Scorpion being my favorite in the whole series since day 1. i just hated the fact what they did with him in this game. They ruined his character background, lame af ! He should of remained Hanzo Hasashi. Remember when they showed his gameplay but then took a while to give his bio ? They just effd him up

To be honest I hate how they twisted the characters in this new reboot. Like, they made younger Sub-Zero as a Scorpion and Bi Han is now alive and kicking. And then Johnny Cage suddenly doesn't have any powers that were made to take down a god, Kenshi is now ex yakuza, Havik and Dairou now are the same person and Shang Tsung are basically a failed fraud, who tried to fool people. But if that was not enough, Rain now are Aquaman suddenly and Shao Kahn are Steppenwolf. WTF??? What I would do with Scorpion and Sub-Zero is that, there would be no Kuai Liang, at least not in main story. He would probably show up later, after Hanzo's new Shirai Ryu clan be created. Hanzo would be Scorpion and Bi Han as Sub-Zero, but they would be brothers, who later will had a dispute between them and part their ways, kinda like in what NRS did but in the difference that, Bi Han would not kill their father, and instead it would be something else. Maybe the fact that Hanzo and Bi Han had different vision on who they are and how they should do things. Kinda like in early John Tobias original MK 1992 plot script. As for the rest, Johnny Cage would be Johnny Cage and Kenshi would be Kenshi, like in OG games. But Havik would not be the same person as Dairou. Havik would be Havik. And I would personally made Shang Tsung as a Sindel's main sorcerer, kinda like in the past when Shao Kahn had Shadow Priests as his main helpers or something, but this time it's Shang Tsung who is a kinda like a Shadow Priest but for Sindel, who later betrays her when General Shao tries to take over the Edenia aka Outworld. Same with Ermac, who would be a Shadow Priest too, but would be corrupted by Shang Tsung's magic and would betray Sindel too. But would be later brought back by the soul of Jerod that he absorbed by accident in the living forest. That is what I would do with the story and some of those characters.

Seriouly. This Mk turned Kuai Liang into Hanzo at all costs, they gave him the entire history of Hanzo both in personality and characthers, making this Kuai Liang have no personality of his own and very boring and without charm. It makes me so angry that he Harumi, Hanzo amg Harumi deserved to be Happy together, but they made their story a shitty canon event. I just hope that Satoshi is not born as Kuai Liang's son, besause if he happens, i will hate this Kuai Liang whit all my soul.

A stupid and unnecessary change. How the FUCK did Liu Kang change a cyromancer into a pryomancer?¿?????

This is going to be long. Bare with me. So one thing that bugs me is Bi-han's new design. It looks Japanese inspired. It's an excellent look... but NOT for Bi-han if you think about it. Bi-han is more traditional and Kui-Liang is MORE about change. Kui-Liang should adopt the new "Japanese inspired" look to differentiate the Shiri-Ryu from the Lin Kuei. Kui-Liang should be wearing that outfit in that screenshot; except it's yellow and not blue, and Bi-han can keep his old fashioned look. This way Bi-han could choose to cyberize himself later; bring back Cyber Sub-Zero as a character from MK9 OR still die at some point and become Noob again anyways. OR just now be alive in this time-line and have a completely different character arc that, hopefully, won't just be Sektor's arc, something Bi-han appears to be copying in Lui Kang's NEW era. Next I wouldn't have involved Hanzo to begin with. If they were going to make him a kid than there's no need for Takeda. Therefore, instead, I would've made the twist that even though Kui-Liang now has fire powers, for some unknown reason, he DOESN'T become Scorpion. Instead everything plays out the same and he forms the Shiri-Ryu, but Bi-han; enraged his brothers betrayed him, kills Smoke for siding with Kui-Liang. Since smoke used Scorpion's trademark spear and some movesets in the ORIGINAL time-line this could help explain that. Smoke; rather Thomas, is killed by Bi-han and becomes the NEW Scorpion 🦂 out of being unjustly killed or vengeance once again. Make him a fusion of Enra; whatever his name was in MKX's story, and Scorpion. He could retain his ORIGINAL moveset and attacks, but also use Scorpion's in some kind of fusion fashion; so to speak. Than Kui-Liang is seeking a new protégé after the death of Smoke, but instead of Hanzo finds Takeda. Takeda becomes Kui-Liang's protégé and meanwhile Bi-han finds Hanzo. Hanzo is now a Lin Kuei member serving Bi-han as HIS protégé. Hanzo and Takeda now become bitter enemies defending the honor of their respective clans until Hanzo has a change of heart and turns on Bi-han; explaining why he stupidly is wearing blue in his ending. Also Kui-Liang; grieving Smoke's death takes the mantle of Scorpion to honor his fallen friend/brother, not knowing that Bi-han's actions caused him to become the NEW Scorpion and believing Smoke to be dead. In this way it mirrors the ORIGINAL time-line where Tundra became Sub-Zero to Honor Bi-han, but now takes the name Scorpion. Also this new time-line will have TWO Scorpion's instead of TWO Sub-Zeros. Meanwhile, once Hanzo turns on Bi-han he feels like he was a fool fir trying to have a protégé while also being ticked that he couldn't get his former brothers to see his vision either. This in turn leads Bi-han to believe he can't trust anyone and makes him resort to using the Cyber initiative. A loyal member is the first to volunteer for this new program; spearheaded by Bi-han and his name is Sektor, the first of many, cyber assassins. He also convinces a young girl to undergo the same treatment and become cyberized. Her name is Frost. Oh and maybe you could make her be Bi-han's and Kui-Liang's sister from America; explaining her icy background.

I don't think Hanzo's sash is blue, I see black....idk. I'm guessing Hanzo and Smoke are paired as the new noob saibot.

Yes, Hanzo was the first initiate for the Shirai Ryu, the other warriors behind him though are older, and seem more mature. Perhaps Hanzo's story will revolve around impulsiveness, rage and maturity this time around.

I think Scorpion did love his father and thats why they kept lin clothes in shira ryu. He wants to rebuild the clan by his fathers legacy.

She can leave the evil side and join him forever as lin kuei, but NRS did something stupid in mk 1 by taking away hanzo's wife and I feel upset about this and also sad for hanzo's fans. that is not fair!!! Haha ok - there's nowhere on your discord to appropriate comment on this so I'll do it here. I'm pretty pissed that Hanzo has been totally nerfed - so I totally agree with you. However, I never enjoyed the excessive torture porn they wrote into Hanzo's story - as if hyper violent edgelord fridgidaire story tropes are the only way to develop his character. That kind of writing has needed to be left behind in 1999. Buuuuut I don't understand de-fanging Hanzo to this extent either. Even worse, we have Season of the Wraith Hanzo who feels like a jibe to that element of his character (as in - lets totally defeat the idea of Hanzo being this angry widow who is so obsessed with his own pain that he turns into a villain the line "If Hanzo cannot have Harumi, then no-one will" - I wanted to vomit when I heard that line. 1982 called and its wants the villain from Fortress back). But here is the truth: NRS is not pro Hanzo/Kuai as OTP (which is the truest of true OTPs) - cowards, LET THEM KISS! (Also, please take care of my true sweet baby Smoke - I've replayed story mode so many times that I get sadder and sadder for Tomas) Given the weird leaks of the next game - I'm not very happy with the direction that the story seems to be going - I get that MK is wildass goofy but MKX/MK11 shows you can still have substance.

Dude I’m totally with you. And side note, the reason you’re as frustrated as you are with all the Scorpion craziness is because you love Mk and Scorpion. And there’s any of us can do to directly change anything we feel is wrong. If making Kuai Liang Scorpion in the new era was non negotiable, What I would have done was make the Shirai Ryu already exist led by Hanzo, and he could have been friends with the Li Kuei Grand Master, (the SZ brother’s dad) and maybe even have briefly mentored Kuai Liang and thought him Pyromancy and his unique fighting Style, as well as passing the Scorpion name to him. When Bi Han’s betrayal happens Kuai Liang and Smoke defect to the Shirai Ryu and Hanzo allows him to become the new Grandmaster. So then Hanzo can officially retire and not be subject to any more tragedy given all he’s endured in previous timelines. If they really wanted to do the whole marriage storyline as well for Kuai Liang, they could have let it be with Hanzo’s kid(s). I know he canonically only had the one son, but I don’t think cooking up a second daughter is super weird. Or if they were really bold they could have shipped Kuai and Scorpion’s son. (Ok I might have gotten carried away with that last part but my point is, there are so many ways to have implemented this change without shoving the OG Scorpion into Obscurity.)

Woke-NRS ruined MK Iore, they made maIe chars so soft and weak, gave Scorpion & Subzero granny buns, ruined Hanzo, abandoned Bi Han, made Smoke a Iady boi, made Reptile a soi boi, made Baraka a good boi, made Reiko a Shao Kahn fan boi and turned Shao Kahn into a generic goon. they keep making men weak at the same time they force WAUMAN POWAAAH in every corner hahaha Woke-tal Kombat at its best :D

It's Harumi who will be the new Scorpion ! *When Kuai Liang will die in MK2 she will transform in wraith (by Quan Chi or Shang) and Hanzo will take Sub-Zero mantle. 3.They set up MK3 with Hanzo being main character and taking back Scorpion power by absorbing Blaze for defeating Noob fuse with Shao. 4. In MK2 we will follow Kung Lao who will defeat Onaga. 5. In one ending he is brown like Tremor LOL

Nah idk if I agree with the Hanzo part. Think about it… Hanzo as Scorpion has been tormented in every single timeline with the death of not only his wife and child but also his entire clan. Over and over again we’ve seen Scorpion be controlled and manipulated. Even when he reformed the Shirai Ryu in MKX/11 he died in the end and everything was for nought anyway. In this new timeline, Hanzo has already been suffering since he was a starving orphan. Now he has a family he can fight with and for in the new Shirai Ryu. How long that lasts we don’t know but he definitely has been granted a more merciful fate now. I know this is gonna sound grim…but atleast it’s not Hanzo’s wife and child who die now.

They could’ve just gave scorpion (Kuai Liang) and smoke their awesome union of light costumes to show off in the ending art instead of being lazy and keep the defaults on them.

Kuai Liang becoming Tundra make no sense. 0% How ? By dying ? By magic and becoming Ice bender with another Amulet ? Hanzo being Tundra is more realistic.

Hanzo hashi is just a tragic event and a name. The new scorpion will actually have something we see him build and he’ll get married in aftermath. That’s more than anything personal that’s ever happened to scorpion. So if they want to make hanzo a brand new character then so be it. We’ll prob see hanzo take the scorpion mantle after sun zero kills him😂. Cuz you can’t force sub how to lead that’s the antithesis of a good leader.

Literally just hope the next story just reveals that after mid mkx was just raiden’s dream and Dominic is fired just to wipe the spit off the mk story

Kuai Liang being Scorpion doesn't make sense at all given that he's supposed to be a cryomancer just like his brother, so where did his ice power go? Cryomancers are literally ice-powered humanoids and giving them natural fire power just goes against their very nature.
