open source embraces all including bad actors. so there is strong evidence open source will best case kill the benefits it hopes to give worst case kill the people & the planet. you open source monkeys should understand...is not always good to allow uncontrolled Innovation. humans are by definition different & diverse...while majority are right minded right thinking individuals...there is a significant & growing percentage of humans who absolutely don't want to do the right thing & just need tools like open source to do the wrong thing. regulation is good thing...controlled innovation doesn't stop you getting to next level but at least there is some guard rails to try to manage the bad actors mentioned

There’s a new model that even outperforms that, and open ai are resisting their own open source model soon, don’t forget the point of these models isn’t just about being better, they’re much smaller with far less parameters, cost far less time and money to develop and train, and can fit and be run on your laptop or even phone

Because then people all over the world would have access to the codebase , and thus independent researchers can build on top of that and make the model better

​​​@@johnshaff actually you can unhook code from utility. you can give away code to anyone. anyone can use code to create utility which can be monetised. the traditional model of capitalism doesn't work for society just the individual to get ahead. we need next century thinking (how to build benefit for everyone, not build benefit for the individual). when most businesses will be replaced soon enough by robots & AI...people will stop working (yes mass unemployment) when that happens the vast majority of people will not be focused on building wealth as they will get product services for free (off robot labour). just like free healthcare off taxation...so higher taxes on robot businesses will pay for things like free money (universal basic income). .free food products services. of very minimal charge. if u want a minimal life...collect just UBI if u want a maximal life...collect UBi ...and do extra ( something productive for more money or passion )... everyone gets to live a higher standard of life (equitable life)
