Would put adjustable leveling feet on the bottom of each leg. Easy to install and adjust AND they keep the wood legs from touching the floor. Your cabinet design is a work of art. 👍👍👍

Very lovely job Ilia! The sink stand is very nice, sturdy and the wood matches the interior of the house. Running water is a very big deal. Much deserved time for a beer! Marina's final touches make it complete.

You are a modern day, european Pa Ingalls. He was a master of any skill needed to live well in the American wilderness. You have such an amazing array of skills. It is incredible to watch you learn yet another new skill. It is a joy to see the wonderful home you and Marina are building. It will last another hundred years into the future, still caring for your family. 😊

Might I suggest you seal your wood as well as possible and then use silicone caulk to seal all of the joints. Worked beautifully for the butcher block countertops I finished a few months back.

OMG! Holding that skill saw so close to your arms while cutting…no, no no! If you saw your son doing that, you would have a heart attack. Use a small hand saw for those projects or get someone to help hold whatever you are cutting. That’s the Grandmother in me speaking ❤😢

Great work on the sink cabinet. I noticed that in the sink drain system you didn't include a P-trap. I don't know what it's like in the EU, but typically that's an important part of a drain system in the US. It prevents the sewer gas from coming up through the drain system. I'm not sure what this system drains to, but it might be a future improvement.

The squash you grabbed is a butternut squash used mostly in savoury dishes like pasta, soups, stews. The smaller pie pumpkins are needed for pies. Clean them out, cut in half, roast/bake upside down on a baking sheet for about 1/2 hr until soft. Scoop out the flesh (no seeds or stringy bits) and then blend in a blender to be smooth. Drain the purée through some tea towels or ‘cheese cloth’ to get excess water out. Now the purée is ready to be used in a pie, or cookies, or cake or loaf.

I thought the same thing about the squash.

I know in Australia, we call them butternut pumpkins, not squash, so maybe it's referred to as a pumpkin in their local language also? I agree butternuts are better for savoury dishes than sweet, but I've sometimes mixed it in with sweeter pumpkins because I had extra butternut that needed to be used up. It's not a great flavour or sweetness for pumpkin pie on its own though.

Fabulous pumpkin pie, the messy ones always taste the best. I too love pumpkins! The sink cabinet looks so good, I like that it’s darker than the floor, it adds a color contrast, so lovely. I’m also in the protect Ilia and Marina club. Be careful with all those new power tools dear friend! 😮 Stabilize everything 1st until you have a safe grip and nothing wobbles… or moves really except you. The floor is amazing the door is so beautiful. Fanciest shed ever. Lol

Very good! Would you be using some kind of caulking around the base of the sink and seal the wood to make it waterproof? With all that pumpkin there are so many delicious things to make with it! I love pumpkin pie (and yours looks 'rustic' and it's beautiful!) but also pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread, and soups are delicious! You can also make a pumpkin puree instead of mashed potatoes. Here's an easy recipe for pumpkin soup: 6 cups chicken stock 4 cups pumpkin puree 1 cup chopped onion 1 clove garlic, minced 1 ½ teaspoons salt ½ teaspoon chopped fresh thyme 5 whole black peppercorns ½ cup heavy whipping cream 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley Place chicken stock, pumpkin, onion, garlic, salt, thyme, and peppercorns in a large pot; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes. Transfer soup to a blender or food processor in batches; blend until smooth. Return soup to the pan and bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes. Stir in heavy cream. Ladle soup into bowls and garnish with fresh parsley. If you make extra pumpkin soup, you can freeze it for up to three months. I would suggest freezing in batches so you only need to thaw what will be served. Just thaw in the fridge overnight and next day reheat on the stove before serving. I don't know if the farmer next door would allow it, but a little pumpkin is also a delicious treat for cows. And I loooove roasted pumpkin seeds as a snack!

pva glue is best dealt with while still liquid as a damp cloth will take care of cleanup as opposed to much scraping and sanding it is also better to wipe excess pva glue while wet as it shows in finishes if left to soak into fibre and cure. thanks for the videos

Looks like that's getting pretty close to move in ready, just in time for winter! Which begs the question... What do you have planned for heating/cooling in that space? Just a space heater and some fans since it's a temporary space, or something more permanent? I would have thought a mini-split heat pump would work very efficiently in that space, but it didn't look like you wired for that at all, and it can be really expensive, which doesn't seem to be the plan in there.

Hey Illia, great work! But what about a vent stack? Will you have any issues with the plumbing without a vent? Or does that not matter for a simple sink?
