A garden centre near the Dutch border in the West has horizontal strips of strong plastic material over the roof and on the sides of their greenhouses. This shields the plants against strong winds and yet lets air in. Provided these strips are of a sturdy material it's a long-lasting solution to your problem.

Try a shepherds electric fence. You can adjust it on poles so it goes over the pond. You can get solar powered ones nowadays. Oh and fake birds of prey

In the UK people put a plastic heron near the pond. Apparently it stops the real ones approaching.

That was a very good trip through some of your varied and wonderful projects .The cats are having such a good time aren’t they ,it was such a treat to see them getting up to their cool cat things in their interesting domain .
