We've been absolutely enjoying ourselves while discovering ASHEVILLE North Carolina and the surrounding areas. We're on hold right now and can't fly to Thailand because of the heat wave with our dogs so we've decided to stay the summer in Asheville NC. Our plans were to go to New York but we are happy right where we are, so happy that we might buy a house here.
The drum circle at Pritchard Park downtown Asheville was exactly what the chill doctor ordered. There was an unexplainable vibe to be felt, you just got to be there. We venture out a bit downtown and can't wait to go back and explore more, we know just from a couple of hours that we made the right decision to stick around.
The flea market was a blast and super huge!! Lots of fruits, veggies, nuts seeds, and things you'd expect to find at a flea market, junk. I love to pick through stuff and find treasures. One man's junk is another man's treasure!!!
Hiking the Catawba Falls in Old Fort North Carolina was exhilarating and pushed me (Michele) to the limits of my breath. Trevor and Mellow treated it like a Sunday afternoon walk. The park has been closed for over 2 years to construct 580 hand built stairs and created a 2.3 mile trail. We were lucky to be there on the 2nd day of opening. We reached the top of the new 60 foot observation tower to see the 205-foot lower falls. We discovered that we were half way up to being 300 feet which is about 30 stories. I wasn’t too sure we’d go to the top of the stairs but we made it.
