We HIKED / climbed Mt. KILIMANJARO, Lemosho Route!

Hello! We are Haley & Ryan. We just recently summited Uhuru Peak, Mount Kilimanjaro! 🏔️🇹🇿
* We summited in October, 2023.
* Mt. Kilimanjaro is located in Tanzania, Africa.
* It is the tallest free standing mountain in the World!
* 19,341 ft Elevation.
* We chose the Lemosho Route. We hiked about 42 miles in 8 days. This route has the highest success rate.
* The company we chose to go with was Peak Planet. They were absolutely awesome and we do recommend them.
* This was one of the most difficult hikes we have done and learned a lot from our experience.

Great video both!! Kilimanjaro is hopefully going to be mine to conquer with a friend in 2025, we are just trying to decide between the Lemosho or the Machame route. the SOUP is for a reason.....you need as much water/liquid as you can take to acclimatize! they are giving you high-water content foods to help those who don't drink enough.

Thanks for this video. I do this route in June 2024. I'm curious what month you went in? Also, what is the type of warm buff/beanie you were both wearing?That seems perfect!

Thank you for watching! We just completed the hike a week ago! In October 😊 On Summit night, we wore regular winter beanies and Stoic Sherpa Fleece Balaclavas. We fully recommend them. We were glad we had them. Good Luck in June! It’s an amazing experience.

Hello! Thank you for watching 😊 We used our iPhones and GoPros for our footage. We had 2 Goal Zero Solar Panels and 2 Solar power bank. This was plenty for us. There was phone service on the mountain at some of the campsites so we didn’t need a GPS phone 😊 Hope that helps! Good luck in July! It is an incredible hike.

Curious on your daytime hikes. Is temperature tolerable? Thinking of wearing a normal pants, no layer. I can have my jacket on my backpack if i need it. Targeting to hike Kili in Sep next year. Thank you for your help.

Hello! Thank you for watching! For pants, we did not layer until summit night. When we went, it warmed up during the day, so we never felt we needed to layer the bottoms. We also carried our rain pants in our packs, if we did need an extra layer of warmth. 😊

Hello! Thank you for watching. For Mt. Kilimanjaro, we used our IPhone 14 Pros and GoPro Hero 12. For this trek, we didn’t want to risk damaging our Sony and wanted to save weight. 😊

Nice Video, I am planning to next month can you please suggest me if it advisable to use FOREX card in Tanzania or better to carry dollars for expenses. Thank you

Hello, We aren’t sure what a FOREX card is, but we recommend bring Tanzania Shillings with you. When you complete the trek, the small stores at the end only accept shillings. Not many places accepted card when we visited. Hope this helps! Good luck and enjoy! ☺️

Hi. Great video. I really enjoyed it! I have a personal question about clothing. How many pairs of pants and underwear did you bring. I figure I can wear 2 pairs of hiking pants as long as I can change my underwear daily. Is that reasonable? You did say it’s dusty and dirty. Everyone says what they brought but not how many. (I am doing the same route and in January 2025 for reference) thanks for the excellent info

Hello, thank you for watching! ☺️. I brought 2 pairs of hiking pants. I brought 1 pair of pants that fit me and 1 pair that were a little big on me for me to put base layers on underneath. I also had a pair of goretex pants for the rain or snow. I did bring a pair of underwear and socks for each day of the trek. Hope that helps! Hello! Thank you for watching! We prepared by taking hikes at our local parks in Ohio using the gear we planned on taking. Our recommendation would be to really get some miles in with the boots and your backpack that you plan on using. Especially adding in the backpack the amount of water and weight you plan on bringing. Good luck in six months! You will do great! The guides are a lot of help and will go at your pace! Don’t worry about trying to keep up with others in your group. Our group ended up breaking into a few groups at different speeds.

Can this be done with only one month of training . I hike once every two weeks and workout 4x a week but I’m starting late I know. Just want to know if you think it can be done or if anyone in your group did it with minimal/ no training ?

Hello! There were a few that did very little training and conquered Mt. Kilimanjaro! It can be done 😄
