I think those are pretty impressive numbers for that little VW..seemed pretty happy on full revs except for all that smoke I wonder if stickyer tires going too make much differance since as you say there's hardly any weight there.
I just want to give you credit for being an honest RU-vidr admitting your mistakes on the camera. Not many people have the courage to admit their mistakes. They just edit it out. I like the project.
Just a little tip for the turbo, Reason there failing is that journal bearing turbos need to be clocked so the drain is at 90 deg vertical, as they use gravity to drain. Having it horizontal like you have right now will lower flow significantly at high rpm, Hope this helps your new turbo live a little longer. Cool build btw.
I love these Frankenstein Hayabusa builds. Imagine seeing folks reaction when this pulls up at the red lights in EV-stealth mode & THEN firing up that Hayabusa side pipe right in their face 🤯
Hey Rich as a glazier it really hurts my feelings to see glass suction cup laying on the rubber! If you want this thing to last and do its job just put in on the back or cover rubber, scratched one is gonna cost you more than just this thing by itself, you might drop windshield or w/e you are using it to and/or injure someone in the process. Stay safe buds!😊
Rich it looks and sounds good man can’t wait to see it finished but it’s a learning curve watching you do it it’s interesting and find it amazing the amounts of power it going to do it’ll be like a rocket on the road love it!!.👌👍
This is my favorite build on RU-vid right now! I'm about to do something similar with an MK1 Golf with a 3cyl diesel from a Canadian Smart Fortwo in the back.
First vehicle I ever drove.! Back in the 80's my friends Dad had a small milk delivery business & he used a VW Caddy as his milk float.! We'd drive it up & down the back alley.! I'll always have a soft spot for the old Caddy.! 😉 👍 👍 👍
I have always liked the Hayabusa in the 2000 Mercedes a class, they are completely mental, I don’t know if a ev system could be added because it would be a great distance car for a 2 seater car 🚗
it switchs from electric to hybrid like an LMP1 car, that's sick! edit: about the lack of weight in the back, some aero when everything is working would be good, that bed is begging for the longest diffuser ever made!
30psi sounds like alot but you need to take into account tube id and length of pipe, its like having a small tyre vs a big tyre, takes more air to fill and get to the same tyre
12:38 ill put in inline duc fan or a electric one in front on the oil cooler ducting. I wouldn't think sufficient flow would make it thru there. But this the build i been waiting on. Oh 23:08 thats an intake cooler ok
Hey Rich, I was thinking about transfering the radiator to the trunk door and use the remaining space in the trunk to a big battery pack, “easy” way to solve the weight problem. 😆
Back in the early 2000s I used to do track days and club racing with BMWCCA. I used to go to Road Atlanta all the time and there was a girl who would show up at damn near every BMWCCA track day with her VW truck. It had a GTI drive-train in it, , race seats, coil overs, and a very custom aluminum cover over the truck bed with a little integrated spoiler. I can't think of a weekend I was there that she wasn't there running that truck. In fact, later on it came to my attention that she participated in a lot of other organization's track days with that thing. I bet she did a track weekend most weekends of the summer. The truck wasn't particularly fast, but it sure looked like fun, and was probably really cheap to run, which is why she could spend the coin on track days, instead of tires, brakes and always fixing it. She kind of kept to herself, so I only got to chat with her one time about the truck. Still cool to see someone take the cheap and reliable avenue to its max in order to run as many track days as she could.
Seeing Ecoflow products was surprise for me because I'm considering one too. I wanted a portable power-station with decent backup and ability to charge via car 12V socket. Turns out the river line of ecoflow has all these features along with LiFO batteries. Here in India, these are still a bit costly but I think it's value enough to splurge the half-salary on it.
I personally have the river 2 Pro, its awesome and has every port imaginable. Use it camping with a solar panel and it keeps my 12v fridge cold and charged through the day and discharges at night
Exxxtreme! bro. Super sick keep it goin, unbelievable build. But don't waste too much more time on it, simple and reliable+easy/cheap fix is what The People need right now
tf you need a haltech for on a busa motor? maxx has a complete plug and play wiring harness and ecu for half the price of the cheapest ecu from haltech lmao. And they’re not the cheapest brand around. No busa tuner will know what to do with haltech right away either.
Also you should fo a colab with mighty car mods, make there home brew electric csr from the 80s working with serious power cause rught now it has a forklift motor in it and they can colab with you guys and help fix|build the engine
Rich, the clock needs to be oiled at noon and midnight, or no later than 3:00 pm and 9:00 am. Or if you’re in Australia make that a.m. Also, where the heck did they get the name High Abuser for an engine? Terribly insensitive marketing, jeez. Next time maybe one of those Hardly-Dangerous twinks?
I love this project so much. It's like old rich rebuilds: you're doing something that has no manual available, trying something that people tell you is impossible, and documenting the work it takes to get there. Great work man, and I hope someone has an ECU that lets you tie in the EV part for like torque vectoring, that would be so wild in a VW pickup.
I know this might hurt some people’s feelings but those wheels and tires look ridiculous. Would it hurt anyone ego to lift it back up to normal height and throw on something with some actual sidewall?
Did you say that Joey's on crank? That sounds like defamation of character if not true. Or should you have said Joey's operating the starter. 🤔😉😔😏🎅🏽🖖👴😁😊👵
Hey you might give 2 Wheel Dynoworks in WA state a call. They know their way around any Frankenstein machine there is and can probably help you get this thing squared away.
Rich, oil flow through the turbo should be at maximum 45* from vertical. as close to vertical is ideal... you will always burn oil and kill turbos if you leave the CHRA at 90* (horizontal).
Rich, if viewers are “falling off” your videos it’s because we’re getting tired of all the ad’s. I’m not paying for RU-vid Premium EVERY MONTH just to watch ad’s for battery banks ‘n shit. 🤷♂️ just sayin’ man.
@@WillyWanka456 I don’t see any RU-vid ad’s, I have Premium, but Rich bypasses that with his “in-video” shill ad’s, I’m just sorta getting sick of it. I pay every month not to see ad’s and these “creators” bypass that when they put a bunch of their own commercials inside the video. I had just fast forwarded through one of Rich’s ad’s, OK, no problem I’m fine with one ad, I relaxed and was watching the video and bam, he stops and starts shilling some battery bank 🙄. At that point I’m really not interested in his video anymore and I click on something else. My post above is warning Rich that stuff like this will “drive” (pun intended) his viewers away…. 🤷♂️
Okay buddy you can use your finger to scroll past it😂😂 if you like him as a youtuber then you should want him to be able to make money to continue the videos.
Those youtube premium ads ensure that youtube is getting paid. The ads Rich himself does. Allows him to make money to continue doing these builds to bring you entertainment. Do you realize you can change settings so when you double tap you can skip like 5 to 30 seconds at a time. All it takes like 3 4 double taps and your past an ad that's putting thousands of dollars in the pocket of the man your getting free entertainment from....
At 12:00 your oil drain is angled wrong. It should be pointed as straight down as possible. Maximum angle is ideally 20 degrees or less from perpendicular to the ground. If it was running like that you were filling and likely even pressurizing your center housing with oil. I see you fixed it on the dyno, but saw it and wanted to mention.
