We just witnessed NHL history

Sam Gagner is one of 2 players in NHL history to record an 8 point night. 4 goals 4 assists. He did this with the Oilers 11 years ago and was the 1st, 2nd and 3rd star that night. A few years later, In the 2016/17 season, we saw Gagner now with the Columbus Blue Jackets go on an absolute tear, winning 16 consecutive games in a row. The 2nd most all time just 1 short of the Penguins record of 17. Noteworthy here, is that 16th game came against the Edmonton oilers in a 3-1 victory. How ironic that now, 7 years later and back with Edmonton, he had another shot at NHL history.
The Oilers themselves are on a heater and had won 13 in a row coming into last nights matchup with a chance to make it 14 against - none other than Gagner’s former club the Columbus Blue Jackets. Funny how things can play out but after taking this one 4-1, the Oilers in fact had won 14 in a row with Sam Gagner becoming the first player in NHL history to be a part of not 1 but now 2 14 game winning streaks with 2 different NHL clubs. Stuart Skinner also notably passed Grant Fuhr for a franchise record 11 consecutive wins! It was a historic night in Edmonton and I cover it all in todays NHL video!

How far can the Oilers take this streak?
@yelling3874
@yelling3874 5 месяцев назад
If they keep not thinking about the streak, hopefully a little farther. They've had some rough ones recently. But if they hit 15 or 16 then Gags' big record will be even better, and the longer they go, the more PK Subban will have to hear about it, so...
@kbstudios9426
@kbstudios9426 5 месяцев назад
They should beat Chicago, so hopefully at least 15. If they find a way past the Preds to tie the Blue Jackets at 16, they will have to beat Vegas to tie the record, if they manage to do that, no doubt in my mind they beat Anaheim to set the record. 4 games to go.

Straight up, the oilers coach is crazy, as a ranger fan I remember he coached 2 games back in 2021 since the main staff was out w Covid, and those 2 games he coached were a 9-0 win and a 7-1 win

Considering after he left the Edmonton Oilers his point production went down and considering his point production has been going back up since being back with them to the Oilers it is safe to say he was meant to be an Oiler and he was never meant to leave and I would personally like to thank him for his years as a Vancouver Canuck because my first ever hockey game I saw him score his first goal as a Vancouver Canucks and he was one of my favorite players in Edmonton so that made probably my decade

So much more pressure on the Oilers now! EVERY team they play will try even harder to be the team that prevents this record from extending! It will be interesting to see how the Oilers manage that insane level of pressure!

As an oilers fan, it does matter. The play shoulda been blown dead on entry, face off outside the zone. Meaning probably no chance at actually scoring again. Like it or hate it, it needs to stay.

I long for the days when bad calls were part of the game. The surgical method used now is tiresome and reduces spontaneity of the moment. A got to get it right today takes the edge off of competition. I was fortunate to watch NHL play back in the distant past minus the technology of today. Bring back bad calls!

If I had a dollar for every time “witnessing NHL history” was used as a video title this season, I wouldn’t be a rich man but I’d definitely have a good bit of cash. It’s never anything good either, it’s always something like “Kirill Kaprizov is the first player ever named Kirill to get 3 points 3 games in a row.” It’s like the NHL equivalent to when every single mainstream media outlet has “BREAKING NEWS”, you’re expecting another 9/11 but instead they tell you the Boston Red Sox head coach resigned or some shit

Darryl Sittler in 1976 (?) Scored 10 points in a game vs Boston ( 6 G 4 A ) , Red Berenson had a 6 goal game for the Blues in the 60's. As usual,another idiot announcer doesn't know what he's talkinng about saying 4 G and 4 A is the most points in a single game by any player.

Chicago is worst in the league. Watch in playoffs, again, neutralize McDavids line they are out, unless they get miraculous goaltending, every game. Wont get past first round, more head scratching.
