Sam Gagner is one of 2 players in NHL history to record an 8 point night. 4 goals 4 assists. He did this with the Oilers 11 years ago and was the 1st, 2nd and 3rd star that night. A few years later, In the 2016/17 season, we saw Gagner now with the Columbus Blue Jackets go on an absolute tear, winning 16 consecutive games in a row. The 2nd most all time just 1 short of the Penguins record of 17. Noteworthy here, is that 16th game came against the Edmonton oilers in a 3-1 victory. How ironic that now, 7 years later and back with Edmonton, he had another shot at NHL history.
The Oilers themselves are on a heater and had won 13 in a row coming into last nights matchup with a chance to make it 14 against - none other than Gagner’s former club the Columbus Blue Jackets. Funny how things can play out but after taking this one 4-1, the Oilers in fact had won 14 in a row with Sam Gagner becoming the first player in NHL history to be a part of not 1 but now 2 14 game winning streaks with 2 different NHL clubs. Stuart Skinner also notably passed Grant Fuhr for a franchise record 11 consecutive wins! It was a historic night in Edmonton and I cover it all in todays NHL video!
