It is, I often just bravely play some weird king moves (by normal standards) and normally don't even castle when I was younger... But after I learn how people prefer castling and applying to my games, I'm playing weaker chess than my younger self lol (I'm never getting used to playing positional chess lol, I can, but I play too solid and too slow instead lol)

It should have worked. Also it should have had a final bail out option. If all else failed, Vidit should have been able to turn it into a knight and 2 pawns vs 4 pawns ending, which may or may not be winning, but it would still be better than getting slaughtered by queen, 2 rooks and a knight

Is it possible that something non-chess related was responsible for the 45 minutes that Black spent on his seemingly pedestrian Bishop move? Like, being indisposed in the restroom or something like that? If something like that does happen during a game, I'm assuming there's nothing in traditional chess annotation that would show the reason for the long delay? (I guess the reason something like this occurs to me is that my wife has Crohn's Disease, and through a Crohn's charity she volunteers for I've met some well-known people like Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, and I've heard a few stories about how unaccommodating the world can be to someone who needs to run off to the bathroom on a few seconds' notice, and spend like a half hour there-- even someone famous.)

#Suggestion 1950 game between Bogoljubow and Trott Featured in the 11 minute animated film "War Is Over". It was inspired by John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 1971 peace anthem "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)". The short film was created by son Sean Ono Lennon and director Dave Mullins. It is set in an alternate WWI reality where two soldiers on opposite sides of the conflict play a game of chess. The game used in the film was suggested by chess historian Edward Winter, and has a highly unusual ending.

good game. Personally i have been traumatized as black, playing the queens gambit, many years ago, as accepted or not i was disposed off almost always and in short order too. In any case, something that I thought of as amazing, regarding the title of this video, but really reminded of it in yesterdays video, was how coincidental it is, in so many positions of top players around early midgame, you so often say that the position is even. I find that very unlikely. To me its seems, this is somehow a limitation of todays engines as they cannot go that far deep in an effective way, to properly instruct as to the theory of the game, ok, emerging theory perhaps, as we also have to understand and make sense of why some moves should be played, beyond "because white (or black) wins in 30+ moves from this position". Howfever, as we are fairly equipped these days with engines that can crunch ever deeper (i am assuming no neural-network / AI stuff, - i will discuss brute force only to start with), i wonder if the benefit of out good friends the engines, might be shining a light in perhaps the pitfalls of draws in chess. For example, a machine has no ego, and so it will always try to minimize points lost. Given the three move repetition rule , and this is what I am getting act, if it finds itself in a losing position or variation, it will always try to force the other side into a position from which it can extract a draw, via this rule. How easy is that? So perhaps for those that use the brute force or even for AI type engines, it would be interesting perhaps to collect statistics regarding this. The reason? Well what if the three fold repetition rule did not exist? Or was altered. What would that do to the game. Because surely, if it was not available, an engine would not prefer a variation that would risk a loss. But it might go into one that it deemed worth risking because should a plan fail, it can always force a draw via the threefold repetition rule. In addition perhaps, this rule is not as simple as many think. For example pawns that still have mobility allow the other side to prevent three-fold repetition, while the side that would seek it might opt to eliminate or blockade pawns just for that purpose, to force a draw, so that would give such moves a higher priority/value. @turtle752436

At 7:12 I would have played Rag1 forcing the black queen to Qh4, then sacrifice the rook with check on Rg7, and after Kg7, Rg1 check again. No way back for the black king, so it has to come out to Kf6 or Kh6, and I would attack it with the white queen and the remaining rook.
