Political chamber pots were SUCH a thing in the 1700s! Across the spectrum, it was popular to relieve yourself on your political enemies. Even high-reputation ceramicists such as Wedgwood, Spode, Doulton, etc. etc. produced politically oriented ware.

Like me Sam likes old books and old kitchen doodads and when he picked up that measuring stick I knew he was a kindred spirit. Mother in law was the kindest like you. She used the stick to tap on ceeling to tell us to come down stairs. This was before cells. She had enphazema and the stick was her call for help towards the end of her life. I love glass and pottery too. It's what originally drew me to you, and also keeps me coming back.

Emphysema is *SUCH* a horrible disease! I had to watch my grandfather, a lifelong smoker, dying with it. (An auto crash actually killed him, but that's a different story.) Seeing what it did to him was one thing which helped me quit smoking myself.

Thank you! My actual nails are very thin, brittle, and ragged so polishing is nearly mandatory. The colours are only me being a peacock and showoff because I enjoy it, but it seems others do too. I get compliments on my nails multiple times a week from random strangers, usually women.

Sam is a cool guy. 😎. Love his look. I have a 22 year old son that has a kilt and he also paints his nails, wears lots of jewelry and has long hair. He has eye brow, ear, nose and lip piercings. He dresses more Goth. He said a kilt is very comfortable. Nothing wrong with expressing yourself. I’m not so crazy about the piercings though. I never had the guts to wear anything like that. If I was his age again, I would!! 💜🌟

The case had a TON of good turquoise in it, but the dealer knew what they had and priced it appropriately. I picked up a turquoise and coral ring--my fingers are HUGE, so whenever I find something that fits, I try to afford it.

The yardstick was one of my scores that day. It's going back to my bookshop in Texas to be a straight edge when I'm doing dust jacket covering and bindery work. (It also makes an excellent walking stick and pointer.)

The knowledge of our elders. Sam is amazing. I don't know if he does his own antique videos, but he should. Also, I have learned that you should always carry a blacklight and a magnifying glass. Maybe make a small pouch with these items and keep it in your car. I also have to state that I love that dimensional cat plate. I hope you purchased it.

Thanks for the vote of confidence in my ability to create videos, but my REAL speciality is books and ephemera related to Texas, and scouting for it is far more chancy than Joce's evergreen Goodwills. On the vacation trip I just returned from, I hit seven or eight bookshops and got lucky at THREE. The rest were utter washouts. I did find one treasure trove on the final day, though, and oddly enough in Syracuse, where J's parents were for their family event during last Sunday's WhatNot sale. I found a shop which is for sale due to the owner wanting to retire, and they had stuff priced STUPID cheap--I guess to reduce the volume of stock. I sucked up something like $800 retail of Texas and Southwest material for one-tenth of that price.

@@jodihepler6202 Ephemera is something I'm scared to death to dive into just headfirst, due to the "Texfake" scandal of the late 1980s where TONS of early Texan ephemera were later discovered to be forgeries. The perpetrators were VERY respected names in Texana collecting and dealing, and the dupes were equally respected. One of the central figures disappeared in what were politely called "mysterious circumstances;" to this day no one knows whether he was offed by the Mob for his gambling debts in Vegas or staged a "suicide" to escape prosecution. My own small holdings that way are a couple of patents (land grants from the state of Texas to individual claimants). They're late enough to be unlikely as forgeries, but trying to ship them safely is as bad as Joce and the big glass pieces she finds and passes by.
