I listen to this CD in my car all the time and I love when that part comes up; it's really fun to sing it while you're driving and pretend you're the characters! XD ~:~
Jessica Liu eh, its not a major plot point. They were taking off people with a certain color passport off the train and shooting them for crossing the Russian border, which is why Anastasia, Dmitri, and Vlad jump off the train in this version. In the movie it was some other reason, cant remember.
@@astrowiz3544 actually its because they were looking for people who were illegally leaving, hence why ipolitov was killed, and why they had to jump off the train
The reason this song grabs me is because it's pure genius - on many levels: catchy melody, clever lyrics, beautiful voices, flavorful chorus, awesome instrumentation, the beyond amazing chording, the contrast of levity (the bouncy music and Vlad's attitude) in a heavy situation (their lives were at risk), 3 different stories sung at the same time in harmony, and how the hearts of the characters - their "life stories" are revealed in their brief lines (Anastasia: on the brink of discovering "who she really is," Dmitry: "Put on our show, rewards will flow...this chance is all I've got," and Vlad: "Bottom line: I'll win her"). And seeing this live on Broadway, the visual effects were spectacular! Bravo to the composers, musicians, performers, choreographers and all those behind the scenes folks that made this song, this scene glorious!
When I saw the tour, there was a brief break between this song and I Pray to fix the train. They were able to let the projector play but not make the train move
How do you write a song that so perfectly captures the emotions of a refugee from a country they love, but fear? A country they fought for, only for it to transform into something even more oppressive and evil, such as the world has never seen? They feel like traitors, but feel so betrayed. But by who? Themselves, for they fought for the changes they now flee from?
That's how Americans will feel if, in the future if we make this a socialist nation. Always looks good at first until you realize you've lost all your freedoms and the government now calls the shots for everything.
@@fjz10706 whoa, chill out. Obviously you're a hypocrite if you're complaining about this being a musical for kids and following it with "u bullshit". Obviously you aren't mature enough to realize that "younger audience musicals" can appeal to adults. And although this musical can apply mostly to a younger audience, older audiences understand the deeper, mature themes of this musical like political and emotional themes. So yeah, chill.
This is my favorite song from Anastasia so I picked it to sing at the 50th birthday of my performing arts school and after practicing it I realize that Anya's part is RIGHT IN MY BREAK the entire song. I'm freaking out now.

When I went to NYC to see this a few weeks ago, I came on the train, so I kind of had this song in my head as I watched the Connecticut coastline go by!

They're on the train out of Russia and all basically reflecting on what they're doing and what awaits them in Paris. The staging is super cool but you're not missing much context (:
meltalviel it is super cool!! It looks like theyre really moving and they rotate the train to show all the perspectives of the leads and ensemble members. So much thought put into the scene, like the ensemble members pretending to sleep and bobbing their head to imitate a bumpy train, gah I loved this.
