The "Drifters" originally did this song "This Magic Moment" in 1960. Jay & The Americans had a bigger hit in 1968 with their cover of the song. But both versions are great!
Keep playing that 60's music guys you can't go wrong. Couple groups worth a listen to from the 60's are Gary Puckett and the Union Gap , the Hollies and the Rascals.
Jay Black was one of the greatest singers ever, he's a classically trained singer. I loved this song back in 69 and still do. A truly timeless song! Sadly he passed a few weeks ago. He was performing concerts into his mid 70s.
Couldn't agree more. I'm listening music since 58 after considerable thought 1968 was my favorite yr for music. Although 69 and 70 are not very far behind. Very difficult choice!
THIS WAS MY GIRLFRIENDS FAVORITE IN 68. WE WERE 13. DIDN'T END UP TOGETHER, BUT MY WIFE OF 38 YEARS LOVES THIS SONG AS WELL. KEEP UP THE GREAT REACTIONS!
Hi Dale, Thank you for your service and sacrifice to our country. To you Dale and all your Brothers who never made it back, I salute you. God Bless You. Michael
Thank you for your service to our great country. My dad went to Vietnam in 1968 also. I turned 14 in August of that year. Sometimes I wish we could go back to that innocence. Great music in the 60's. God bless you sir.
The music stopped, the horn blew that something was coming and what came was one of the most romantic lines in music! "sweeter than wine, softer than a summer night"!
You kids are too adorable for words. In 1968, I reacted the exact same way you are reacting so many years later. Cherishing a loved one is a lost art. Bring it back, please.
Jay has such a distinctive voice. What a talent! I don't know if someone has mentioned it or not but he was known as The Voice. I loved his voice the first time I heard it and thousands of plays since I still love it.
The 60’s were the best, it’s where I left my heart of great memories & music. The 70’s were good too, but there’s just something special about your teenage year’s. You two are so sweet and loving towards each other, listening to these love song’s, love your reaction’s, beautiful couple! 👍👏👏💙💖💕🌺🌹
Love your reactions! I heard Jay Black at the very end of a concert he did at the long-gone Old Chicago amusement park. I was late getting there, and I heard him sing the last half of this song as I arrived. You should look up the Jay Black tribute, where he sang lots of his hit songs for a documentary. He was about 73 years old at the time, still smoking a pack of cigarettes per day, and he could still blow the roof off the joint! Enjoy! Luv you guys!
Ah I love this song. I was a freshman in high school when this song came out, and had a big crush on this one girl in my class hoping this could be our song.
You got to do a reaction to Jay and the Americans performing on the Merv Griffin show walking in the rain. It is right up there with this magic moment caramel come a little bit closer It is a fantastic vocal performance. At the very end the notes are in the stratosphere and he does it flawlessly!
I love Shawn's mudvayne shirt & listening to Jay & the Americans...... Mel & her reactions...plus Shawn's swaying.....I love u 2......u guys have great eat for real awesome music!!!! Thank you
My absolute favorite by Jay and The Americans, and so glad you guys reacted to this - there's no way you could go down the rabbit hole without listening to this classic - its a shame that Jay and The Americans weren't as revered as many other 60s greats, because with Jay Black (David Blatt) they were truly gifted with one of the finest vocalists of all time - magic !
Was sad when jay Black passed last October to almost zero news coverage. He was a great performer and can be seen doing "the hits" up to the time of his death.
I know it's 2 years on since you dropped this, but I gotta say this is one of my all time fave love songs, and I love y'alls reaction to it. Sweet, baby!
Jay and the Americans had several hits in the 60s. Jay Black the lead singer still hit those high notes when he was closing in on 70. Glad you enjoyed this song as well as your super reaction to Cara Mia. If you have the time and interest to do a reaction to a powerful and haunting love song by the the original artist but only has a handful, if that, of reactions across the RU-vid platform. While several inferior covers have more reaction videos on RU-vid. The song is The Power of Love by Jennifer Rush, co-writer and original recording artist. If, at some point, you feel like giving it a try, here is a quality live performance link:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b_zHQ6kFuQ0.html
Jay Black was a golden voice. I was fortunate enough to have met him after a show at Busch Gardens in Tampa , Florida . Now that voice is gone. R.I.P Jay you were awesome!
I was born in 62 times were so different we wanted to all just be united and love each other. The moon landing on tv in black and white so many memories
This song is so vivid in my memory and no matter where I am or what I doing immediately takes me back in time to my teen years, sock hops, first love, & first kiss.
Love the way you two interact and get into the music that a lot of grew up with - we had it so good and didn't fully realize! Saw this group perform at the local fair about 10 years ago or so - 2 of the founding members told stories in between songs, they helped discover Steely Dan! And the leader singer, they referred to as "Jay #3", he sounded almost exactly like Jay #1!
Hey guys you two are my favorite reactors I love you guys. I'm 78 years old and I just want to thank you for reacting to the music I grew up with. I'm digging it.
Really enjoyed ya'll's reaction! This was originally sung by The Drifters In 68 and you should really check it out! You're going to love it! The Drifters had many great hits such as Some Kind of Wonderful, Dance With Me, and There Goes My Baby. You guys are a great couple!!
David Blatt aka Jay Black was one of the greatest singers in Rock & Roll history ever! Jay and the Americans are just one of the reasons why I considered the music of the 60's as the greatest decade in Rock & Roll history. Brilliant!😎
@@debitaylor2101 Agreed! Today's singers were not classically train and taught like back in the day. Their voices are helped with auto tune because voice coaches that were once prevalent back then are very few today.
I remember this song so much when I was little, grew up with it, now there's a commercial with a girl about 5 biting into a hamburger with this song, it's great
Just happened upon your channel, you're a cute, happy couple, I really enjoyed your reaction vid of Jay & The Americans. I was a young teen when they were popular. He had an operatic voice. Unfortunately, he had to keep touring bcs he was forced to file bankruptcy, due to a gambling addiction. RIP, Jay (real name, David Black).
Love, Love this song. Loved it the movie the Sandlot. Great movie especially if you like baseball, Babe Ruth and some young boys enjoying their childhood.
