casey, preface here, i’m a huge fan. but i’m not seeing it with fusion. everything i’m seeing (and it’s not just you) lack real world examples. say, i’m a wedding videographer, commercial videographer, or social media lifestyle content creator… all i’m seeing is rudimentary effects.

unfortunately none of the videos work. all I get is black screens. might be because of the many tracking stuff on the site that get's blocked by a reasonably safety setting... 😞 tried with firefox and chrome - nada

As a retired computer systems architect I find Fusion nodes incredibly intuitive. They work exactly like a filter, a subroutine, or a built-in function. Like any computer program.

Well, as an Architect and Software Engineer, also as a Solutions Architect, I think your vision is completely wrong... It has nothing to do with how it works... What can be said is that nodes should be more intuitive due to being closer to how our brain works (my PhD was in Cognitive Processes) but in practice this doesn't work... and the reason is that most editors are accustomed to working with Time Lines, which have a very different workflow compared to nodes... It is really difficult to take these professionals and place them after so many years of working with timelines, changing the paradigm.

@@coffeelover1456 Yes, it's not a problem with nodes just like if you bring a car mechanic to fix a computer, they'd be clueless too, but electronics is not the problem here.

I have a question Casey. I'm new to fusion and this has bothering the s**t out of me. I cannot for the life of me find an expression that will allow me to pin the corner of a shapes exact edge to the corner of my composition using float coordinates and the size of the shape. It just isn't working. The internet doesn't seem to know either. I have scoured for hours to try and find this. I can't even find an expression to position a rectangles left edge to the edge of the frame. What gives? It's usually pretty easy in any other software, including Photoshop. But in DaVinci, it's as if the frame boundaries (our canvas so to speak) do not exist to be touched by other objects. It's just strange. Canvas alignment tools are in every other program ever. Help.

You should be able to put set that coords to (0,1) for the upper left for most things. SOME things, annoyingly do coords differently, but there should be a number for it.

@@CaseyFaris so I've been banging my head against a wall on this. Positioning between floats and pixels is quite literally impossible it seems. I really wish this community and this developer had better documentation. Writing a couple manuals doesn't cover all the topics. So I really appreciate what you're doing. I've been trying to code dynamic templates based on the size of a rectangle and place that rectangles left edge on the edge 1920x1080 viewport, but the math just don't jive man. I also absolutely hate the macro editor. It's garbage and hard to use, and imo missing a LOT of input types. I guess this deserves some context. Think of a score tracker in the bottom corner of a TV screen while you're watching basketball or something.

You must have reasons, maybe the demographic is too small and not worth your time… but, I have a question… I try all the time to find individuals on RU-vid who teach HDR Rec2020 the same as you and others teach SDR Rec709. There are a few, but they are not the quality you are and I don’t think they know what they are talking about. The difference between SDR and HDR is like night and day. I’m trying to do HDR but I suck at it, which is why I constantly look for individuals who can help me in the way you and others helped me for SDR. Do you know where I can find someone? Is there a channel I cannot find out there? Are colorist just keeping this for themselves? Why is it no one talking about this? Why does it seem like everyone pretends HDR doesn’t exist?

We don't sell the RU-vid Editor's Master Training any longer, sorry. Most of the stuff taught in there was available via free tutorials on YT anymore.

Casey, say for instance I wanna attach a proton blast to a tracked footage. What would be the best practices for attaching a video VFX as to Text or Image?
