It's so nice to see u back! I would have liked to have seen a whole house tour before u left Florida but that's okay. I enjoyed watching your renovation videos. Wishing u and your family all the best! Take care!💜
Can I ask your tips on raising children not to be materialistic and especially what tips you would use to help them at the time of life they go out on thier own
Hi! It is so good to see you back! I am curious what you guys are doing for income now that you have moved and haven't sold your home? That seems so nosey (I am sorry) I am curious if you are still doing instacart and those things for that income? Since I mainly watched for your budget and frugal tips.
@@secretjourney4815 we moved from Miami Lakes, FL to Gainesville, GA. A BIG change in scenery but we also went from paying 3K + utilities for 2/2 apt to paying 2K for a 4/3 home. We are subleasing a room to a relative so our actual rent cost is 1.2K which makes it worth it. Moving our things was the biggest expense; we downsized and did it with a 16 foot Penske truck for ~$1500 (including tolls and fuel).
Congrats! We are considering it right now, but not because we want to, but financially it’s getting too tight. We like the climate and all so we are looking for something similar. Or just comfortable living. If you don’t mind me asking - what state did you move to and why did you like it?
@@burkinfaso I fully understand, it was the same thing for us. We loved the climate and FL is what we've known most of our lives but it no longer made sense financially. We moved one state over to Georgia. There are about 3-4 months of cold weather that we have to get ready for but the rest of the year it's somewhat like Florida.
@@SquareCircle005 GA is what I’ve been thinking about as well. However I’ve heard that since Floridians are moving out to GA - the housing market is rising so quickly. I feel bad since I’m about to become the same person I used to complain about (New Yorkers/northerners that moved down to fl and made the market worse, but having no choice and moving somewhere else and becoming part of that problem due to economy😪. I wish I could stay in my beloved fl and raise my family without constant stress of $$$) Anyways, Sorry for being a crybaby and all the luck to you ❤️
Congratulations! I am right behind you. Can't take Miami anymore. Putting my house for sale and getting out of here. No idea where, but far from here. Been here for 44 yrs and we are done with the high cost of living, traffic, corrupted officials running the city and most of all rude people. Your baby is Gorgeous!
Pittsburgh, PA and Cincinnati, OH have the most affordable housing in the country And that includes most of the more rural counties surrounding the cities
@@emilyfeagin2673not according to the research I’ve done. Would you mind sharing your sources? I’m looking to move out of south Florida to somewhere a lot cheaper.
@@emilyfeagin2673I'm getting away from the Cincinnati area! Get ready for plenty of toxins, allergies and sickness too up in that area! I am wanting to go to NC. Haven't decided upon where. Just not in the big city
I love Florida I have been here for 30+ years. I am retired from my real estate business. I live comfortably in my mobile home and I have a garden. My living expenses are very basic and affordable. I live in Sarasota. Whats gotten high all over is food and gas prices. I can't change our economy I can only control the things that effect me directly.
Right , I live in Tennessee , 55 years in Tennessee. It’s the same everywhere. Food prices have doubled. Home prices have doubled everywhere! And it’s about finding that place you love. We have a daughter in Florida so we are going to Florida. Selling everything to go and be comfortable there. We are in Florida often and love it. It suits us. Yes it might cost just a little more for annual property taxes but actually we we’re paying huge taxes in Tennessee until 2017 when we move to a tiny country town. But it has its issues. Like my daughter told us good medical care is not in the tiny towns it’s the nicer bugger cities. And health care in important to us. So paying a little more every year in property taxes is ok. But everything else you spend money on have doubled all over the country. You can’t run from it. We hate the extreme high humidity in Tennessee. And I don’t care what anyone says Florida is not as hit and humid as Tennessee. I actually lived in Neptune beach for 3 years so I know what it’s like. And what to expect. You can get land in Tennessee for a good price. So I pray this family find a great place to settle down. I have 11 acres on the Tennessee river I’ll sell them. It’s a gorgeous stop. We bought it thinking we would homestead. But I got sick. So headed to Florida. We are excited about it. I’m ready for a pool I can use all year long. I have psoriatic arthritis so it will be a huge help. A real blessing.
@@FourHuskyHomestead you must be kidding.... I have lived in New York, around DC, on the Canadian border and in Baton Rouge. I now live in North Florida and Florida has the most miserable hot humid weather I have ever experienced. It makes New Orleans and Baron Rouge seem like heaven with respect to the heat and I would take the four seasons even along the Canadian / NY border over Florida heat and hurricanes. Check out the home owner's insurance in Florida as well as high car insurance. Property taxes are higher in Florida then Louisiana but lower then New York or Virginia but only in some counties. In some counties in Florida the property taxes are higher then even upstate NY. I tell everyone to experience a Florida summer, which lasts like 9 months, and hurricane season before ever considering this miserable state. In the cold, I can always put on an extra sweater but in this miserable 96 degree heat and 100% humidity what do you do when you just sit there and sweat while wearing nothing more then a bathing suit. Moving to Florida was NOT my choice. It was a thing of either becoming unemployed or move with my job. If I had a choice I would NEVER have moved to Florida.. But, as for cost of living, every place in the USA is experiencing massive cost of living increases. Several of my friends have left the USA for places like France, Hungary, Romania, Poland and Mexico and not one regrets the move. I even have a nephew who lives in Japan with his Japanese wife and loves it there and would not move back to the USA for anything.
@@marytica123 I am sure you are going to put your money, where your mouth is, and buy this woman, a house that's up to your exacting standards. Put up or shut up. Better than that , she's living within her means, and I wonder, if you can say, the same ?

My husband and and are native Floridians and just moved out of state for the exact reasons you mentioned. Homeowners insurance is out of control and HOAs are going to be a lot more expensive because of it. We moved to Gainesville GA and love it! FL house closes in a week and are getting 97% of asking price which is 3 times what we paid in 2000. We have managed to control costs into retirement. We also did major renovations to bathrooms and kitchen.
@@commonsenseisntcommon1776 All the New Yorkers are moving here (FL) they are rude and run up the prices. FL will be the new New York soon. FL is no longer FL, its a mix of New York, Brazil, and Puerto Rico.
I've been ready to leave FL for a few years now. The cost of living, traffic, weather, over populated; I want to down size big time and just live very simple. Hopefully within the next year I can make that happen.
I think it was so smart to sell as many possessions as possible before moving. We hired a moving truck for our items - it was an awful, expensive experience. Lesson learned! Glad to hear your house is on the market and your family is well again. What a month!
Agreed. Hear too many horror stories of moving companies ripping off customers. Hiking up prices and holding possessions hostage until the higher price is paid. I would never hire "professional" movers.
I lived in South Florida from 1996 to 2003. I was in my 20s. Even back then I knew I didn't want to stay because of the high cost of living, overpriced homes and too much people. I made the 'mistake to move to overpriced California from 2003 to 2011. My wife's family moved to San Antonio TX and we followed them with the goal of buying a nice new house which we did. We are much happier here than California. I would never move back to FL. Plus the constant threat of hurricanes! Good luck with your move!
As native Floridians, my husband and I had to sell our retirement home because of the high cost of housing, windstorm insurance. Plus the high cost of living. We are RVing now, looking for somewhere to relocate too. It’s heartbreaking to us, to be kicked out of our home State in our most vulnerable age. 😢
@@rangerannie5636Forced by circumstances if they want a roof over their head and food on the table…is that so hard to understand. Evidently, it is. Smh
We moved out 20 years ago. It was a nice place still at that time but we wanted to move closer to family. We had decided a couple times up until about 6 years ago to move back but we weren't able to sell our home here...I thank God everyday that we didn't move back there. It has become really bad in the last 6 years or so. You will be so much happier no matter where you decide to luve. I personally grew up basically in Florida and it breaks my heart how much it has gone down hill. Best of luck!!
I’m in Miami area, and my heart aches for families that are struggling to try to put food on the table and pay the high insurance, rent, car insurance etc. Not to mention crime and hurricanes! We’ve been here for decades sad to see the changes. Florida has become a wealthy’s playground.
Nearly all these comments are from people wanting to or have moved out of Florida. I’m one myself. Left nearly 30 years ago. However, of the top 10 most searched areas on Redfin, five of them are in Florida. Florida’s population will continue to skyrocket for years to come.
Don’t worry home prices in Tennessee will go up by people escaping there from Florida. Just like home prices went up in Texas and Florida when people escaped to those states from the West coast. I live in Texas and this has definitely happened. So it may be a temporary respite to move to Tennessee but word is spreading so enjoy it while it lasts.
Only way she will have true power over what she’s running from is to leave America. 🤦🏾♀️. You’ll face the same challenges because that’s the way America is moving.
@@Faithful10415 People just dont realize. All these states that have no state income tax are just as expensive as any other state. It takes money to run the state, and it has to come from SOMEPLACE. So either they charge higher sales taxes, or property taxes, or find sneakier ways like Texas... which makes you buy a hunting permit to hunt on YOUR OWN LAND. Texas takes in 50 million a year just from that
The first three weeks a house is on the market is when it gets the most attention Don’t be afraid to make a price adjustment if you aren’t getting an offer your agent can guide you
Way to go, renovations done, house up for sale, hanging out in TN and all with kids and a new baby, you have accomplished a lot! We enjoy whatever you have time to share. I love the nomad life, not a lot of stuff and free to be adventurous. It is not in our nature to live in a state, city, town, house for 10-20-30 years when there is so much to see in this world. Everybody's got to do their own thing. Enjoy your TN summer and good luck with your next move.
Yeah, that’s real smart leaving the house that you had a mortgage on to go live in an Airbnb. Everybody go look on line to see how much an Airbnb because these people have no brain.
I'm not sure why most people in the comments are roasting Florida. It's amazing here. Also, Florida is one of the fastest growing states so I'm unsure why people are acting like FL isn't an amazing place to live (if you can afford it).
@@mssarahc4085 Yes, but all things being equal, I haven't seen a place that I would prefer to live. Just because the cost of living has gone up doesn't mean that it's any less desirable of a place. Would you rather live in Cali with 50% of the homeless people in the US? Or NYC where I paid 13% more net taxes for an inferior lifestyle, or Portland where you're stepping on used needles when walking down the street? I don't understand why people are trashing FL...
It's so understandable how busy you've been. Renovating a house is exhausting. Your baby is so adorable, sorry to hear about the covid. You look rested so this break is what you all needed. Hopefully you get a good sale soon. Going light while traveling is smart as you have more options when looking for a new home.
The house insurance alone is outrageous here in Florida. Some of us have been cancelled by our insurance companies or prices have gone up 40%. My mother in law who has a low income pays over $5,000 and doesn’t live near the beach. Now they are saying that houses that were constructed in the 1990’s below are considered non insurable. My dad lives in NY and has a house that was built in 1918 and only pays $900 a month for house insurance. I too am ready to leave Florida, is gotten overpopulated and overpriced for the low income we get paid here.
My parents retired to a 55+ park on the Florida west coast in the mid 70s. My mother was younger then my dad and was very lonely....said she got tired of “seeing the Hearst go by.” Mom had her first open heart surgery in the 70s in NJ. When they retired she couldn’t find the doctors in Florida that were familiar with her case. She contracted pneumonia and wound up back in Deborah Heart & Lung for her second heart surgery which killed her...she was only 58. Florida has left a bad taste in my mouth. I will stay in PA where my Social Security and state pension remain untaxed.
If the price is reasonable should be easy to sell. So so many people are moving to Florida for the safety of their children their communities and enforcement of parents God given rights. Should go quickly. Good luck!
Just moved to Florida from New York it was the best thing I Have ever done, So much cheaper, quieter, and safe than New York, I got job that paid me comparably to NYC and I'm happy about the move and the cheap rent here.
So glad to see an update, I was wondering how things were going for you all. Good luck on selling your house, even though you are not in a hurry, I hope it goes quickly. Looking forward to seeing your adventures!
We just moved from the Maryville TN area to New Mexico and you are soooo right about the food! We miss how good and cheap the groceries are! So excited for your family!!
Now everyone is moving to Tennessee. They'll screw that up fast, watch. Why is it that everyone thinks they have an original idea when everyone has the same idea?
I am older than you but I totally understand wanting to do something else when you are young. I live in Florida and it has gotten expensive. Of course there are more expensive places to live but Florida has gotten crazy with insurance. We will be moving back to TN also in a few years. We sold our house at the top of the market in FL back in 2022. As long as you can afford it live your dreams. Who is to say in a couple years you might fall in love with a town and buy another house. I wish you nothing but the best. I look forward to your adventure.
I was a bit worried about your family since you did not post for awhile, so I am so glad to hear you are safe and refreshed in Tennessee. I hope your house sells soon!
I was thinking about the gas prices to drive it on trips. Our South Carolina gas prices just shot up again. My small car is stressing me on gas 2 days a week an hour to work. Maybe they get good gas being diesel engines ?
I lived in Murfreesboro across from MTSU. I rented from a lot of private owners and my rent was always under 500. Beautiful place for students and retirees. Haven't been there in a while but it was growing before I left
@@peculiarshanice4586 I live just a half mile from MTSU. Yes! absolutely beautiful place to live. It’s grown a lot is what I have been told. Everything is so convenient. Great city to raise kids.
I would like to see a video on something you do in Tennessee. Parks? Camping the city? How about comparing Tennessee and Florida? What you liked and didn’t like about Florida? Love your videos looking forward to your next one.
Wow! Florida has been the place to move to when needing a better quality of life. In the last month I spoke with friends and family there, all moving out within the next 6 weeks. To expensive!
Congrats on the move. I am also in the process of getting the hell out of this hellhole of a state. But what is so said is they don't make it easy to get out. All the renovations that need to be done to make the up to code. Codes that were not there at one point and all of a sudden pop up. Everytime think have everything in place, inspection comes up with something else they did not include before because it was not an issue. I am not against all the codes to make things right. But some are petty. Now that things are set time to get it on the market and out of here. Sad part is, when you look at the market, housing is so high in FL, houses are going at extreme prices, and in most parts going quickly. I hope the same. When you look at housing more north, people don't realize, sell your house in FL, you can get 3 for the price of one when you go north. Sad so sad.
We did something similar. We moved from Myrtle Beach for similar reason. We traveled for 2 years. Now starting over in a new house. It was a journey but fun and worth it.
Healthcare is unbelievably horrible, grocery etc taxes very high. RE tax remains low so there is one plus. I would discourage anyone from settling in TN
Hi, word of advice. I had lived in a vehicle for 7 years and trust me, with the cost of gas and food you will be paying almost the cost if rent. This lifestyle is not what it once was. But i say still try it to see how it works for you. Happy travels and stay safe ❤
Almost all major cities are expensive now. I would say don't move to a place just because it is cheaper. Really consider the lifestyle you want to have. I grew up in a mid-size city and I moved to Tennessee for 2 about years. I was not happy there at all. It is very rural. If you don't like fishing, hiking and hunting there is very little to do other than college football. I missed access to the ocean and a good variety of restaurants. I also missed culture like concerts, museums, galleries, etc. What good does it do you to live cheap, but very unhappy? Nothing against the people in Tennessee. Some of the most generous and friendly people I have ever met.
Congrats! You guys worked SO hard and deserve the best. So sorry to hear about the COVID. Happy you are all better. You are all starting on a wonderful new adventure. Wish you all the happiness!
Your baby is so cute!! Sending you all the best for new adventures!! My husband is retiring from the military and we face a similar big change😅 Crazy we looked extensively at Maryville!! There is a base there we were nearly moved to. Still love the area it’s beautiful!!
I love Florida. However, with the total cost of everything, you need to have a satchel containing some cash. A small percentage of us have been here a while and on our 5th or 6th house, and if the timing was good, it worked out pretty well. The prices now make sense if you're all set. For a young working family, it may be a little tough in SW Fl. Hopefully, you all decide to come back. Good luck.

One must love winter to move north, I don’t. I lived away from FL for 35 years, when retirement came I sold everything and returned to sunshine state. Good luck!
No people want a better living for themselves. Hurricanes are far more worse than blizzards & snow. Let’s get that straightened out. That state caters to people like you and the wealthy anyways. I lived through hurricane season 2004-2005 that was a hot ass mess and dangerous. The sea levels has risen, hotter temperatures, more flooding Mc low paying jobs, and what’s sad is the poor Floridians won’t have money to leave if they don’t leave before the next passing decade. The economy in Florida is trash.
So glad to see you and that you made it to TN okay! I'm sorry you got sick. I had it last summer and it stunk, but it's really bad with a little one. ♥️
I was born and raised in florida. i was that beach girl ! Bought a house and was settled, but i hated it. i hated the misrible weather ,traffic, especially i4.. i hated that i bought a house away from people with land..for it to grow so fast it put me pretty much with tampa and wesley chapel..it took 20 min to get out my neighborhood..beaches are over crowded 😫 the property taxes went from 900 a year to over 5k and even though we were making decent money it was a struggle!!! We had an investment firm give us a deal on our house and we moved to TN this past april !! 🎉 i love it¡ the fresher air the nicer people . We can go outside even in August and breath and go on walks !! I live in dayton area on 2 acres!! Away from knoxville for that small town but still not to far from like sams club! Gas is cheaper food is about the same with the double food tax but getting this 3 month brake here something i never seen! Our taxes on our house is like 500 bucks and they said that was pricy i laughed 🤣 car insurance was cut in 1/2 ! And the pay is about the same but i don't feel like im stressing !! Good luck on your journey here !!❤

Thank you for the update! I wish your family well and hope you find amazing places to live as you travel. Please keep us updated. My husband and I love Knoxville and have considered moving there, but only if our kids and grandkids will move too.
Be sure and check on home prices, property taxes and rising traffic. Knoxville and Nashville have both seen record numbers of people moving in--many from states that had different expectations from government in their own state. This may signal a push to raise taxes. Just what I have heard. Maybe the rural areas are different.
Right behind you! Have a house in Melbourne that I’m selling and moving to Virginia next month! Florida is getting expensive and wages are NOT keeping up
Don’t get greedy! I used to be in RE. When A house sits empty for awhile, it becomes “stale”. Buyers wonder why it hasn’t sold and assume something is wrong with it. If you have an honest, professional realtor, take his or her advice. You bought at the bottom. Take your profit and RUN Before the market crashes again! BEst of luck!
I moved to Coastal MS from MA. If you can handle the heat and bugs in MS then it’s a great place to live. The only thing more expensive in MS than MA is home insurance but the gas price is easily $1 less a gallon so that makes up for it. I have no regrets about my move. Good luck and check out Coastal MS.
Not a good idea to start high. Better off to start a little bit lower than market value. This would have created a multiple offer situation. Buyers are super savvy and will look as to why it’s selling two years later for double?!? Don’t let it be come a stale listing. If you don’t have offers in in the first week then you are definitely overpriced. Don’t wait to lower the price. Your realtor knows the market and gave you good advice as where to price it. Your realtor just “bought your listing” by listing it higher than it should be. ANYWAY…wishing you Good luck!!
omg, my heart bleeds for you. its going to be so hard to sell in Florida with the withdrawal of housing insurance. My thoughts go out to you am glad that you got out. I hope the best for y'all.
Not sure you've done your research. But they say you don't know what you don't know. FYI, lots of campgrounds don't allow school bus conversions to stay. Some require an RVIA certification and more have a 10 year rule. I travel all over the country in an rv and find it is not cheaper in most other places for food and general living expenses than Florida. I winter in Florida every year and lived there for 10 years before I retired in 2017. Best of luck to ya. I think you will have an eye opening experience especially at your young age to not have an Appreciating asset (real estate) and only have DEpreciating assets (a decade if not more old school bus).
Honestly, they've made extremely poor money wasting decisions that have resulted in their current situation. Moving is expensive! They've made two big moves in three years. There are soooo many costs associating with moving. Now an RV purchase and living in an RV. If their goal is to travel, then good, get the RV. If their goal is to build wealth and security .... They're on the wrong path. It's very difficult to hear young people say "it's more difficult now than ever" ... no, its not. Not by a long shot.
@@joethecomputerguy1 I remember those days of 18% mtg interest rates. I also remember odd-even license plate gas rationing. :) In places like Florida, where many houses are considered "Beach front" (I think it's loosely defined ...within 1 mile of the water) ...of course prices are high and taxes too. Even the jersey shore is very expensive price and tax. This family has really just made some poor financial decisions and CHOOSE to take what would normally be considered "side jobs" to support their family. There's nothing wrong if that's what you choose ..but don't place the consequences of those actions on others or a state, etc.
@@susansmith493- I live at the Jersey shore and prices here are insane. It’s heartbreaking because so many locals can not afford to live here anymore. Home prices are through the roof but rent is even higher! And that’s if you can actually find a place to rent.

I live in northeast Pennsylvania and the cost of living here has skyrocketed a lot of out-of-town landlords bought up the properties and the rents have gone up tremendously. Pennsylvania is not that cheap as everyone may think it is. We have the highest gas tax in the country.
The other thing about keeping your Florida house and renting it is that as you said, Florida favors the renters over the owners. Also, you have the issue of squatters. I have seen many news articles about squatters who break into vacant houses and just start living in them. When the owners try to kick them out the find that law enforcement will not help and that they have to jump through all sorts of legal hoops to finally get the squatters out. But, in the mean time the squatters are ruining the house and in some cases will actually strip out plumbing and such for the copper and leave the house in an un-livable condition once they are finally forced out.
We bought property in South Carolina and can’t wait to leave Florida. You also have been an inspiration to me on your vegetarian lifestyle. Thank you so much.
I think half the country bought a house in SC . any and every house sells fast at double or triple price and it’s hard to find one affordable in a good area especially in the country side. It was too shocking.
I moved from South Florida in 2016 to Central Florida at that time the cost of living was better and I was happy. Since 2020 with the Covid and the cost of living rise especially insurance here. I’m feeling just like you. As a matter of fact my sister and her husband are moving to TN as he has family and they love the Mountains. I am sure you will have no problem selling your home. Best wishes on your new adventure your both young and travel sounds like an adventure to me.
We are also in Florida and things have slowed down a bit in our residential area, but I would expect a renovated house so close to the beach to sell fairly quickly! Good luck! There are always a lot of investors who snap up houses in those areas to use as short terms rentals. My fingers are crossed for you.
Florida is no longer the cheap cost of living as remembered from the 1990's and the prevailing wage growth has been lagging as compared with other states.
