For me as long as they start off with or build up to a competent and respected Cyclops as a leader, they’d easily have another Steve Rogers on their hand. And by golly Cyclops deserves some love for sidelined he’s been made in most media since the 90’s.

For Magneto you can keep his holocaust origin by making him apart of the weapons plus program and do what a winter soldier treatment to him

I think the X-Men needs Cyclops. For one, he’s been done wrong for decades. For two, he might not be needed for every team of X-Men but I fully believe he should be there for the first team/main team to begin with. It’s like having the Teen Titans not start with Robin, you don’t need Robin to always be on the Titans or even always leading the titans, but he sure as hell had better have been there. Cyclops is THE X-Man. He’s the best blend of Xavier and Magneto in one. Not too passive like Charles but not a flat out hateful terrorist like Erik.

First: Dan's hair looks AMAZING! Second: I thought you would each draft your own team instead of making a single team. Neat to see you work together as the "proffesor X" picking the team. Third: MY team would focus on people we haven't seen infocused on in more than one Live action already. So no Iceman/Nightcrawler/Colossus/Storm. - I'd use Polaris so you can still do the Magneto's kid story. Edit: I would make Magneto Rwandan or Israeli(Him suffering a genocide is what matters in my eyes, not nescesarily him being jewish. I actually like Dan’s idea a lot. It allows for versatility with all the characters without sidelining some or others.

I've thought of this a lot since they're taking forever to introduce the X-men. I'd start with a six person team, introduce every character (minus one) in a six episode series where each episode serves as a way to introduce a member of the team without bogging down the movie with too much setup. The last episode would setup the faculty of Xavier's school and end with the team coming together. Team Idea 1: Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Storm, Iceman, Rogue. A mix of Original Five and some faves. Rogue would be introduced in something Captain Marvel related, ending with her stealing Carol's powers and having a change of heart, setting her up for her place on the team. Xavier and Forge as teachers. A non-mutant Juggernaut as the first villain for the mutants vs humans conflict. Team Idea 2: Sunspot, Cannonball, Pixie, Armor, Betsy Braddock, Colossus The No Big Names team. N O5, no Wolvie or Storm. Kinda. Jean, Scott, and Ororo would be the school teachers. Same setup, just giving Pixie and Colossus an episode together setting up Magick as the reason Pixie has her soul dagger. Pixie is a fave of mine, so I wanted to include her. Which is why I'd use Mastermind as a villain, with the Hellfire Club as the main players. What I think the team will actually be: Cyclops, Jean, Kamala, Wolverine, Storm, Beast or Ice Man

On the Magneto topic Dan brought up. How about use the multiverse collapse to bring a Magneto who’s origin is still tied to that point in time and bring a Captain America that was Hydra. Hydra Cap disguises himself as normal Cap and Magneto kills him. The world sees him kill Cap and labels him the Villainous mutant.

I find that they should play it safe and start with the O5. Give wolverine a show exploring his past prior to him joining so that people will have content. Then do second genesis, but instead of sunfire, thunderbird, and banshee, instead have polaris join not knowing who her father is, and havoc can join towards the end. Also maybe throw rogue or kitty in there if you want.

I’m strongly bias because I watched X-men Evolution growing up and have recently rewatched the whole show (it’s so good) but I think that show is the perfect example of what the MCU or whatever do for the X-men that gives a diverse cast from Logan all the way to Kurt, a good family unit, young and old characters to drive the plot, among other things. It’d be great. Obviously it’d have to be tweaked for more modern times and things but it’s so easy. The template is right there and it makes sense for longevity reasons

Something I've been saying for a while for the MCU to introduce the X-Men is to basically do Giant-Size X-Men having the First Class to already be a thing and then introduce guys like Wolverine, Colossus, Storm, Nightcrawler, then I would switch out Thunderbird with Forge due to how similar he is to Colossus, I would personally keep Sunfire but maybe switch out Banshee with a female mutant like Psylocke, Polaris or Dazzler and the plot of the movie would be Gaint-Size X-Men with the new team being sent out to rescue the old team with Cyclops who would be the main focus of the movie then the movie with some of the new and old class leaving and the rest staying with the movie being set between the time of Infinity War and Endgame and have a post credit set in modern day with a young Kitty Pryde being chased and attacked by a Brood.

I'd love Cyclops, Iceman, Storm, Forge, and Armor. And the school leader as Emma. With Scott dealing with the fallout of Jean disappearing and ending up emotionally drawn to Emma. (Of course we'd deal with Jean in a later movie) leaving room for Beast and Angel as acolytes for Apocalypse for another movie. Hence why the cover five are gone

Maybe have Magneto still have his holocaust origins, have him frozen/shoved thru a time hole, whatever then when he comes to the present time be confused about tht changes in society but still see that humanity still sucks in general and be bitter that the one thing that HASN'T changed was that. Maybe even be captured and used like Bucky was, have him used as a weapon by some evil group/country/whatever and frozen and not age while frozen. That would add to the bitterness. Hydra using him after getting the idea from the Russians after hearing about the winter soldier stuff and try to 'make the idea better' or whatever? That would be cool.

I would keep the old Magneto origin story. And just add the fact that he has an additional mutation. That makes him age really slow

The best way to explain the existence of mutants in the current MCU (barring secret wars happens and changes it) is that their origins comes from Tiamut's developing Celestial Seed essence spread throughout the earth and manifesting in humans as the X-gene in Pietro & Wanda, as well as explain the malleable genetic structure the made Spider-man, hulk and Cap possible. Especially as we already know that the developing lifeforms of a world are apart of the growth and development cycle of a Celestial. Mutants sparsely emerged throughout the ages at a slow pace, a very slight increase with the atomic age and then the rise of heroes, and now experiencing a major boom do to the events of the Emergence in Eternals triggering a global awakening. This could also be way Arashim returns to judge in the future just like during the X-men 's time in San Francisco. This could also be used to inform multiple ideologies of many factions and as the golden goose for the origins of many things of vague and undefined nature, say the future debut of krakoa the living island?

Hmm. I think Benny might be crazy when it comes to formulating plot and character ideas. But not like in a crazy genius good way, but in a Zack Snyder lets shoot Jimmy Olsen, have Doomsday in the second movie, Batman kills, Lex Luthor goes to Arkham kind of way.

I want the original first class, it’s a good starting point and starting at the beginning allows characters and actors to grow into that team. Make deadpool cause mutants to occur. In the current MCU, have deadpool find the current weapons program. They have been working on a super soilder serum that is basically terragin mist but for mutants. Then he knocks over the container and it spreads across the globe.

I would want Nate Grey on the team in place of Jean grey and Kitty Pryde. because then you get both the beyond omega level telekinesis and telepathy of Jean Grey with the added reckless youth that comes from Kitty in one character.

For the teen character that introduces us to the world of X-men, I'm thinking Miss Marvel. For the villains, I'd like to see Mystique, Destiny and Rogue. Rogue steals Captain Marvel's powers, later joins the X-men and because of Kamala's relationship with Carol, this provides friction between Kamala and Rogue. No one in their right mind would leave a powerful being in the hands of an enemy if they had a chance to do something about it. Mutant or not, Magneto is too powerful to lose if he's on your side.

I think it's super important to keep Magneto a Holocaust survivor. As a Jew myself, I always felt a special connection to Magneto growing up because it was hard to tell which comic book characters are actually Jewish and I didn't feel represented until I learned of Magneto's backstory. Since he's a Holocaust survivor, it was easy to determine that he's a Jew and through him I felt we were represented in the comics (even though he's usually a villain). It also adds a layer of complexity to the character and what fuels his motivations that he would otherwise not have. He knows what it's like to be persecuted more than the majority of people because he was persecuted for being two different things. First for being a Jew and the second for being a mutant

If they REALLY wanted to keep Magneto kinda old but also not that old but also wanted to keep the holocaust backstory. They could say his grandparents were holocaust survivors and they told him stories of what it was like. And then later on Young Magneto could be attacked by other because he’s Jewish and then he sorta connect to how his grandparents felt. And that also where he can discover his mutant abilities as well

I love Sal's pitch. Setting one movie in the past will allow Magneto to keep his origin intact. Honestly, my expectations for an MCU X-men is very low.

I really like dans plan…similar to mine …I wouldn’t do no origin stories…I would gather and create the team within a Disney plus show but have the big problem or bug bad be for a movie; have side problems for a xforce show where they deal with problems and stuff to protect the superhuman community in secret kind of like agents of shield

I'm guessing they would do a mix of old and new, and keep it diverse and at least half female. I'm going to go with Cyclops, Polaris, Miss Marvel (who I believe is officially a mutant now), Iceman, Forge, and Armor. Maybe through Havok in there so we could have Summers brother drama. Or Havok/Polaris drama... or both! Scott busy trying to be the perfect leader, not listening to his brother who has girl troubles... but she's also trying to decide whether or not she wants to betray the team to her dad. My explanations: Cyclops is the leader, or at least leader-in-training. Polaris has sad "I have an evil dad" backstory with possible conflicted alliances, and she visually she is reminiscient of both Jean Grey and Wanda. Miss Marvel is young, diverse, and has been in other titles. Iceman can be Scott's best friend or old friend, or something, and he also checks a diversity box. Forge because he's techie and Hispanic. And Armor is fun, plus she's another young girl and it would be cool to see her and Kamala hanging out. Altogether, we'd have quite a versatile, unique team that could be a lot of fun, and still bring drama. I think the team has to have Cyclops. He's never been done right anyway, and he's recognizable enough that they could include him and then leave room for Wolverine to be built up later. My own team would be O5, but that's probably not going to happen... Iceman for obvious reason

Magneto could be a varient from a timeline that's in the 70/80s. Hes got all his proper backstory, white hair, still get the man out of time vibe, but he's also been fighting the xmen for awhile and maybe in 4 or 5 movies we get to see him transition to leader of a team

I don't particularly care who's on the team but I do have a dream for x men. Solid team for the movies and a Disney+ show about young mutants in the school with the movie actors as cameo teachers.

My X-men team for the MCU would be Cyclops Jean Grey Storm Iceman Angel Nightcrawler Armor I would also have Beast but, much like in the X-men Evolution, he would act more as a second mentor for the group and helping Xavier train the team (the film could be basically the MCU's equivalent of My Hero Academia). Wolverine would be save for a sequel. Since Armor is young and wasn't adapt yet in a live action film, she could play the role of the POV character. As for Magneto, I would keep him a holocaust survivor who, in the 60''s was captured by the goverment and put on cryongenic hibernation (very similar to Bucky) until Xavier found and free him in modern day. The two could spend some time living together in Xavier mansion, becoming friends until the difference in their ideologies result in Erik leaving Charles, feeling that they should be fighting for mutant rights rather than living hidden in the mansion.

I think the best option is to do whole clone body hopping from comics and keep original origin and continue with some beats of lore established pre-USSR colapse and introduce him with his worshipers.

What about for Magento's MCU origin you just have him be skovian have him go through everything he did with the Holocaust and instead of the Nazis just make it the MCU version which is Hydra. You could then also tie it in to him having a relationship with a woman prior to him hunting the Hydra soldiers and officers the tormented him and that woman goes on to have children in Wanda and Pietro.

Here is what they could do for Magneto. Germany in the throes of WW2, a young man is brought in after nearly ripping up the barbwire fence. The Nazi scientist discover this boy has a mutation but they have never heard of mutants and so they send him to another lab. In this lab they freeze the boy after another outburst causing damage to the compound. So similar to Bucky and we know the technology existed. Later the Nazis are defeated in their hurry to escape the Russian advance these scientist abandon their prisoner. It takes years before this lab is discovered and he is freed. Now a man out of time he flees and tries to learn about the world decades pst when he should have died. So have this be in the 60s or 70s as a teenager or very early twenties. Have him meet Xavier and develop their friendship but his trauma never let him let go of that pain and sense of helplessness. So in the modern day he has had time to build up his forces but he still has a tragic backstory

Updating Magneto's origin isn't an impossibility. Sadly there have been holocausts, genocides, atrocities etc since The Holocaust. Make Magneto Rwandan, or Cambodian, or Burmese, or South African, or Indigenous Canadian even. If you wanted to maintain his Jewish heritage & be extra topical; pro-Palestinian Jewish Israeli citizen (likely of high social standing) convicted of treason & crimes against the state. With that last one you could have Holocaust survivor(s) in his heritage, like parent(s) or grandparent(s).

22:58 to also counter Dan's idea. I believe with the prominance of antisemitism in the modern day, it is very important that we keep Magneto's jewish heritage. However, I also think that we would be treading familiar ground if we have an antagonist with understandable motivations. With that in mind, WHAT IF Magneto and Professor X swap roles. The former leads the X Men, while the latter leads the Brotherhood of Evil. That way, we can still utilize Magneto's motivation to protect all mutants because of the parallels he sees with the holocaust, but now we don't run into the same issue of "villain with a tragic backstory meant to make him sympathetic".

Why not just follow the source material and use the original 5

While the Holocaust has an obviously special place in our culture, it is far from the only genocide. I would be okay with Magento being linked to any of them, it it wasn't for one thing. Holocaust denial is a growing problem that must be addressed. Magento's backstory helps remind people that the Holocaust happened. And, more importantly, changing it can be seen as supporting Holocaust denial.

I hope the xmen is in its own world and not in the bloated MCU universe.
