I can totally understand why you moved , I'm on the Sunshine Coast and it's just so crowded here now it's pretty much like living in a city . I'm sure once you reno the house you won't have any regrets about leaving SE Qld .
I was on the Goldie in the 70s and 80s, and Brissie too for a while, and it was all a big country town then. On the Sunny now for a dozen years and hating the increased population which is exploding. Time to move on me thinks. Not good this ever expanding population, and government want to keep massive immigration going too. Funny though, like I move, and like Brooke is doing, we are the ones, the early ones, that start making these nice quiet lifestyle areas into citys. Ironic hey!
Hi Brooke. I moved from the GC to CQ as well about a year ago. I feel the same way about the GC as you do, but it's a new life now. I also bought an old house that needs reno-ing. You've got the steel stumps so that's a really good start. How about all that room underneath hey? Love your dam, you'll be able to grow veggies and save a few bucks It's frog season now so check your tanks and cistern etc. You'll have green tree frogs trying to hide in there and cane toads out in the 'garden'. Winter is short but depending on how far you are from the sea can be quite cool. I think you'll enjoy it, at least it appears that you're close enough to town to have some council services.
Love it guys ..... We did a simular thing by moving into, renovating and selling a 100 yr old miners cottage that was in the same condition as yours and it was incredibly fulfilling. And now we have just bought some land in Exmouth and are going to build up there. Some don't get it but we believe you have to have a crack at life otherwise ..... your just taking up space. All the best to you and your new adventure guys!!🌞🐠🤿😎👍
Oh Nice, well done 🙂 100 years old 😳 I wouldn't have a club what ages ours is. Love Exmouth, the fishing and landscape is amazing. Bit hot for me though. All the best to you.
I am a new subscriber having found your channel today, I watched your move to Central Queensland with the help of your friends and I was hooked. I will enjoy watching you young people building your new life. Thank you for posting. 👏👏👏
HI, you have the added advantage of being young, we made the shift in our 50s, from Sydney to SW Qld, never regretted it for a minute. We were lucky to buy run down property, at the right price ( $155.000) for 568 acres, that's equal to 3 suburbs in Sydney. Closest farm 3klm away, peace and quiet, will be watching how you guys go, well done.
Wishing you all the good things. You are both young and energetic, smart and ambitious. You have drive and energy so it will be delightful to watch your progress. By the way, I am sure you appreciate your dear friends and all that their efforts and love bring to you.
Central Qld had old school country charm and lifestyle that at no longer seen in mainstream cities. Wise move! You’ll love it! I love Bundaberg but moved back to city for career development.
i moved from woollongong to Bundaberg 22 years ago, did the whole isolated acreage thing for 20 years , Ive always thought Gladstone was a dump, being an industrial town but if you like fishing you just might like it up there . 1770 would of been a good place for you guys , Living on an isolated property can sort out any flaws in a relationship and just be ready to loose 4 months of the year with intense brutal heat and a never ending sticky feeling but he other 8 months are perfection , Good luck guys
Ex Primbee here, where in the 'Gong? My son lives in Gladstone, he reckons best to take out a loan before booking a flight elsewhere. Seems Mines means MINE to the Airlines there. Sadly.
Hubby and I just moved back to the Wide Bay Burnett region from near Sarina. I miss the people, but we are both closer to our families now. Moving there to begin with wasn't a big deal as we'd both been used to living to rural areas over the span of our lives. In any case, I wish your family the best with your new home.
Love this, my partner and I are planning on going back out west to enjoy the sustainable life, fishing and hunting! I also noticed your property has some lantana bushes on it. Might want to read on those as they grow like no tomorrow and super hard to get rid of as well as other things. Hope everything goes amazingly for your new journey 🙏
Fantastic, you are doing the right thing, my wife and I are in our 60s and are moving again, from the UK back to Oz, we lived which we have carted around the world. in a giant shed in Yeppoon for 10 years, now we have 6 x20 foot containers. Have fun, its going to be great.good luck
We lived on the Sunshine Coast was to much of a rat race moved to roma bought a 1940s Queenslander we renovating atm so understand what your going through. Needed new wiring and hot water system put in aircons new carpet new blinds dug up stumps found old bottles which was weird used metal defector found old coins but good luck.
I’ve just moved into a raised Queenslander in South Burnett region and we are on 40acres. Ours is pretty much like yours although a bit more liveable, but needs lots of tlc. Hope you post some renovation videos as we are new to renovating and would love some encouragement 😊
I have just found your channel today and instantly subd, I’m so looking forward to watching your journey. We are halfway between Brisbane and the Goldy and totally understand your traffic grind. I would love to do what you are doing but probably too late for us so I’m going to live my dream through you, ❤❤
You're not far from me it seems, I can't imagine you will regret the move. I was down at the Sunny coast last week, the crowds and the traffic nearly sent me insane in just a few hours and the GC is even worse I think.
The house has good bones and will look a picture with some hard work. Can't get wood like that anymore. Some won't appreciate it and others will see the potential. Living in a Queenslander myself, just don't bother trying to get a straight edge. Lol Don't bite off too much and watch out for the Gladstone tax. The fishing is awesome, the countryside is beautiful and the wildlife is spectacular. Welcome to Central Queensland.
Construct a huge dam. Or dams. Fire breaks. Because w all that growth, foliage etc surrounding you. Fire can be a concern. All in all. What a great potentially awesome property.
New subbie here, looking forward to seeing you reno this house.. .We moved from Brissie to Cairns 32yrs ago and it was a small place then... We are now in Townsville, only because of the hospital... you guys are young enough to give this ago... Well done for trying... Cheers for Sharing...
We moved from North Brisbane to South Burnett 9 months ago. We are retired (64 and 70)..and are currently renovating our home..Good luck, with your move, looks exciting.
Your gonna need to get that A/C fixed in that car like ASAP for summer. That's the first thing I did when I go to CQ. I had a 20 yo camry and I spent 1k putting in a new compressor. You need cold AC up here
Congratulations. What an adventure ahead of you. I can see great possibilities with your renovations on the house. Welcome to Central Queensland. Lynda from Yeppoon Qld.
I've just joined your channel and I look forward to your upgrade progress and your enjoyment. I loved the hill side access to your property because I guess I enjoy the bush.
Congratulations 🎊 Beautiful house and will look great with some TLC. We just brought a old miners cottage in mount morgan central Queensland. But very excited to make it feel like home 🏡 we are very greatful because our morgage is cheaper then our current rent. Take care
Little bit of work ahead but looking good. Old House would love to know it’s history looks like it may have been quite grand in it’s day? Some family must of had a life there once. Brother Inlaw at Bundy always tells of amazing fishing stories up there can’t wait for your adventures to come 👍😁💕
I wish I knew the history of this old girl 🤔 strangely I heard a voice the first day we got there while I was cleaning inside. The voice said "what are you doing?" No one was around 😳 my sister in-law came in 2 mins later and said she just heard and felt a presence too. Creepy. Haven't heard anything since 🤨 We can't wait to get out and explore our fishing opportunities here.
This is one journey I am excited to see! We moved home to New Zealand and never got to buy around Bundy or NSW but now we are working hard to buy a DIY’er over here! Cant wait to see your journey ❤
@@HookedOnBrooke If it's insured, do it HAHAHA then buy a house and get it delivered to your door via trucks. Probs work out super cheap too. Or get a kit home etc. Go steel frame for sure, bulk termites out bush.
Moved from now crowded Ipswich to Near Gladstone last year- got 2.5 acres for far less than SE Qld. Nearest neighbour is 300m away, surrounded by bush; best thing we have done in 10+ years. We are just 10 mins from Awoonga- not bad fishing (better with a boat), take the kids for a swim & a BBQ
Hi I live in Maryborough Queensland best thing I ever did was renovate my old Queenslander home I can look back and say wow what about when we did that congratulations on your new home I’m sure it’ll be stunning one day ❤️
How I came across you guys I don’t know but I subed. I’m looking forward to following your new journey. Yes totally awesome views, I’m South Burnett Region but I know Gladstone area very well, got family there. I’m sure you made a great choice. Have fun
Naw thanks Joanna. Yes it definitely took some guts to make the move but to tell you the truth it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would leaving the Coast. YES I will dearly miss my besties but I can do girls trips to catch up with them 😍
Fancy old mate knocking the pump off, i hope that friggin Mig works ok ah! Good luck with it all, you certainly have your work cut out, just subbed and looking forward to seeing the reno and clean up, good luck
On you guys! Been trying to convince my family to do the same! Lived in SEQ all my life and it’s unfortunately way over crowded and over fished these days good luck with your new adventure!
Thank you so much. Yeah we don't have kids so it was a little easier for us to make the move. I have a few upset friends and family that we moved though 😔
Welcome to CQ, I hope you enjoy it up here. You will find it very different from living in the big smoke, unfortunately the shopping centres in Gladstone are not the greatest, but we get by. Rocky is only an hour and a half away, depending on roadworks. It gets bloody hot, but the winters are tolerable. Good luck.
Don’t worry about the background noise it’s way better to hear what’s going on than the music 😉👍🏼 loving that you just up and moved I did a move 13 years ago with my twin girls on my own best move ever now my girls are grown I’m excited to do another move to where who knows lol but I’m definitely enjoying your move ❤
This is the first time i have seen your vlog. Congrats on building your house by yourselves. I can't believe the people before you lived in the house for 18 years
What a fantastic spot you've moved, will be so much more peaceful and Awonga is so close. I know you have some work in front of you but it be soooo worth it. Best of luck with your new venture.
Exciting, I will be following your new adventure! We were thinking of doing the same. We're on the Sunshine Coast & the common saying around here is "It's getting like the Gold Coast nowadays!". Somewhere quieter with less people and traffic sounds great! I've been looking around for 'hidden gems' further north, but haven't found it yet!
Naw, yes, I hope we inspire more people to do the same. It's definitely not going to be easy but it will be satisfying and fullfilling. The right property will turn up all in good timing for you ❤️ you just have to take a little leap and visit a few places to figure out where you want to be. 🙂
@@isabellamaree1433 Bribie is nice & quiet. I liked living there before moving to Sippy Downs. I am looking at spots further north on the Fraser Coast next.
Good luck with the renno. Will be more than you expected $$ wise. Oh just as a friendly heads up.... The house will have to be brought up to current code and a new roof as well especially for insurance as they'd walk away from any claim... I work on the industry oh side note...awonga dam is stunning gorgeous took that ski boat up there for a weekend from the sunshine coast. Deffs would go there again
Just found your video...! Look forward to your adventures... And the ups and downs of life where you are! It's a leap of faith... and I know your decisions will be aplenty... Love the old Queenslander... Grew up in many when i was a kid! Looking forward to it the next video... happy days... eh?
Hello, new subscriber here. Your living our dream this is exactly what we plan on doing in hopefully next year or two. I look forward to watching your progress hopefully you will share.
Lovely spot! a mate only lives a couple km’s before your place and I’m 30 mins inland on top of the range, I’m also an ex Currumbin/cabarita local that got out of the rat race, hope you’s enjoy you’re new journey 😊
6 years ago we did the same thing, sort of. We lived on the goldy for 55 years and even back then the traffic was shit and had enough of the rat race so moved to Baffle Creek, just down the road from you. We have 53 acres, 2min from the river and 2km from the surf beach. the best move we've ever made..
