We Need More All Ages & PG-13 Comics In The Marketplace To Save Comic Shops 

@Shawn James, I agree with you regarding the need for more age appropriate/PG-13 comics on the shelves, but in my opinion the comic book industry and shops are suffering for the following reasons: 1. Ever increasing cost of books; 2. The decline in the quality of the books from story/writing to artwork; 3. Too much political & social issues in books 4. Companies taking their customers for granted 5. Publishers, artist & writers insulting the customers on social media platforms, print newspapers/magazines, in interviews & on TV. 6. Annoying comicbook shop owners and/or store managers & staff ignoring customers, closing the shops early, no clear idea of the shop hours, lack of diversity of books in the stores. Just my view on why the comic book industry is in dire straits. While Manga is dominating, the comicbook industry was too busy being insular & maintaining their safe zone, thus keep out Blacks and other talented writers & artists. Its hurt them dearly. Its sad, but at least the indie comic scene is thriving, which is a major glimmer of hope for a rebound.

I'm old enough to remember comics at 711 or the newsstand.

I understand certain stories like Spawn,Blade, and the punisher being r rated, but i do think most comic content should be pg13 at most, so it can be accessible to more people. Not every comic needs to be the boys or invincible

There good chunk of reason why the Comics Code needs to return, because it will put these entitled writers and artists in their place and separate PG-13 and R Rated comics to appeal separately.

What these writers today fail to grasp is that when writing or making comics, there should always be a balance between what’s age appropriate and what isn’t.

Shawn you know I like my cheesecake and violence as much as the next guy but DC and Marvel have gotten way too far with it still with a bit of SJW crap in it. One reason I had to walk away from DC was because of all the gore.

I don't mind violence or the gore but it needs to be kept to a minimum to where it doesn't take away from the story definitely a place for but when it's used way too much throughout each story people lose interest when that's the only thing these companies have to offer yeah we had violence in comics during the '90s but they didn't go too far with it unlike most of these comics of today do and it's mostly has to do with writers not knowing how to have a balance And not knowing when to draw the line don't even get me started on the Woke agendas that they push in a lot of these comics today.

Yup, we need the return of the Comics Code Authority, that's how successful DC and Marvel were originally. Sometimes I do get tired of the blood, gore, sex and sexual stuff and overtime it gets tiring. But many creators will find ways to complain, claiming it will limit their creativity, well they need to learn to separate PG-13 and Rated R comics..

I kind of have a mixed feeling about Comics having Gore I recall reading a few comics from the 1960s or '70s there was a comic rating system back then I think they should at least bring that back there are some mangoes though that are violent and have Gore such as Fist of the North Star I'm not sure if the Japanese have a comic rating system I have noticed in mangoes like one piece which rarely kills off characters but if the characters were cut off there was a little bit of Gore but not as much compared to a recent comic I read I think it was Spider-Man it was where Kingpin crushed the person's head

They need to get back to doing movie adaptations to comics. I think they would bring more readers in. Back in the day, the movie adaptation of Star Wars actually saved Marvel and kept the lights on.

You know, before Jack Kirby passed he objected to comics being too explicit as far as content goes. Stan Lee felt the same way. John Byrne in an interview said the challenge about CCA was thinking of creative ways to get around it.

Yes I am so sick and tired of the blood, gore and sex. I see why a lot of kids couldn't get themselves into comics these days because there's nothing there for them to escape from.

Yeah, the comics these days are filled with the doom and gloom depressing stories instead of stories that can come to life and provide a slice of life vibe to them. Plus, it would be nice to do the same for cartoons that kids of previous generations had a huge connection to, because this generation of kids just feels a little dead inside. It’s even sad that today’s cartoons characters in comics in media/pop culture are just sarcastic, cynical, and obnoxiously annoying.

Shawn, you mentioned in prior videos that you like R Rated comics. To quote the start of certain comic reviews, "this comic is rated R for nudity and violence, just like I like it." So which do you favor more, wholesome or nudity and violence?
