@100Creed each to their own I say :) I have these pieces in my collection for myself, and I don’t see an issue if people have them to “complete” the rarer sets. I would however have an issue if peeps pass off the knock off stuff as real. I’m pretty open with the fact I have them. If I see them for a decent price I will get them (coz the collector in me can’t resist haha)
Fuck price value if you just like building. I do have lots of lego sets but they are so over priced and i dont afford it to my children. So these are great and lego prices nowdays is big joke for all the big brands like disney, marvel, harry potter
If you want to buy the proper lego version but canb't get hold of one, why can't you use the online version of the booklet and just buy the parts from Lego Pick a Brick or bricklink and just put the set together yourself? It would probably be cheaper than buying a boxed set from ebay and gets around thew whole' not wanting fake lego' situation
@@NoobGameReviews I'be had a look as I was intrigued. Out of the 724 pieces in the set, only 701 were available on Lego Pick a Brick with some of the special pieces (6x4 inscribed plate, 2x2 grey plate with black stripes, the blue technic 3L pins, the round black printed shield and a few other pieces) not even listed - if they were I couldnt figure out how to find them, especially the blue technic 3L pins. Those 701 pieces would cost £76.81 and the rest you'd have to source from either your own suppply of spares or Bricklink. It may even be cheaper for the 701 pieces available on Lego P.A.B. to source in their entirety from BrickLink but ive not checked that one out. All in all, a little cheaper than the prices listed on Ebay for a new set, but still with a few critical pieces unavailable.
The reason that LEGO is so expensive is for one the quality, being engineered and produced to the micrometer, but also for the R&D and design. A large breakdownn of LEGO’s operating cost is that research and design. So you are paying a lot for the quality and the design. So the stolen design is theft. Of IP. You are supporting theft by purchasing cheap knock off LEGO with no alterations. Also worse quality. I think the only solution is to use oficial LEGO, just you wont have as many but is that really a good idea. Good review though, interesting comparison
It’s true, Lego spend years researching the sets and spending money on the licenses as well which is part of the cost. It’s a very interesting subject, and I’ll be doing more follow up vids.
engineering and R&D only can explain the initial price of LEGO products, it doesn't explain the secondary market on these, well unless you want to argue they did R&D on making artificial scarcity of their products. Lego products are expensive these days, no doubt, but preventing "collectors" from getting things by having absurd prices is not a Lego thing. If you wanted one of the fantasy modular buildings because you got into Legos a few years after one retired, or you want a christmas village train or... whatever.
@@Mike__B no the government lockdowns that kept everyone inside and focused on more stay at home hobbies spiked the secondary market. That is out of LEGO’s control
LEGO does not offer the best quality in the market, especially not for the price. I understand, having official LEGO is nice, but the quality control at LEGO has gotten way worse over the years while the price increased. Colors don't match, there are colorful bricks inside you can see from the outside, scratched tiles and windows and almost everything is a sticker (the republic logos at the Venator for example. It's a 650$ set, it should have prints). Here in Germany we have BlueBrixx wich offer insane quality to price performance. MouldKing uses good quality bricks too. GoBricks currently have the best parts available and are cheaper than official LEGO. Saying LEGO deserves the top spot because of its quality is stupid because it's false. LEGO can charge so much because there are many people who just want official LEGO without caring about the quality, but just the brand name
