Thank you! I was there on Thursday, I can tell you the game was flat and when Anthony pulled his skill out it lifted the crowd and we scored a few minutes later!
In the video "GIVE VIERA THE MAN CITY JOB". The irish guy said that if Potter got a job by a team in the top 6 team by December 2022 he'd go to the barbers and eat his own hair.
the move took up two seconds, idk what the fuss is about and in the end it wasn't pointless regardless if it was on purpose or not, it distracted the defenders allowing another player to make a run. if people should be complaining at something it should be the pass because it was terrible, there was nothing wrong with the skill move
@@rekzahogk6476 i think its more than that. Richarlison got the treatment too. Nowadays community mostly doesnt deserve football, and they complain beautiful game is dying. "Joke." -Irish Guy"
yes after the spin that took about two seconds, he proceeds to send the ball out of play. showboating is fine if it yields result. in this case, he is clowning himself.
I just can't believe that Sky Sports spent as long as they did slating Antony for doing a skill move, and then less than 2 weeks later did an interview with Jay-Jay Okocha celebrating his skill moves.
I remember watching the game with my mum who is a United fan and just bursting out laughing when Anthony did this, no point chastising him over a 2 second skill move
Garnacho on the other side of the pitch was doing elaborate moves to take the ball down, the same moves that the Neymar’s and Marcelo’s of the world used to do. I don’t see the issue
Never change Anthony. This is why the English never win world cups (except that one none of us was alive to see) while the country you're from holds the record for most wins
Former Eredivisie players for Man Utd* (Players who formerly played for the Dutch league prior to joining Man Utd) Edwin Van der Sar Tyrell Malacia Japp Stam Lisandro Martinez Daley Blind Robin van Persie Nemanja Matić Christian Eriksen Ji Sung Park Ruud van Nistelrooy Zlatan Ibrahimović Subs Raimond Van der Gouw Sergio Romero Timothy Fosu-Mensa Alexander Buttner Andreas Pereira Donny van de Beek Henrik Larsson Tahith Chong Memphis Depay Antony
Sometimes you get the feeling you have to get "permission" to trick on the pitch from Twitter and they only give you permission when you already have scored 27 goals in the past 4 Champions League Finals.
In hindsight, Ronaldinho did good by not coming to England .. imagine the outrage whenever he would’ve done a 100 skills a game at Old Trafford, like he normally did in his pomp at Barca & Milan.. I’m from South Africa and our fans are all about tricks and flicks, no one gets criticism unless you lose the ball each time you do a trick
Dinho is different. His move would have come during an era where people appreciated good football. In the modern game people only care about results and numbers thats why the number of actually good footballers has declined. Look at the striker market after Haaland theyre all crap. Every position is like that now not just strike.
Bruh...same reason why number 10's are phases out...they usually were the players with the most skill and flair but no American style tactics and metrics took over and boom we are watching great but soulless football.
Video idea: each premier league clubs best starting 11 of player’s that AREN’T going to the world cup, and maybe another video on where each of these teams would finish if it was a full season.
Ok, but seriously - this is one of the few times where the Irish Guy actually changed my opinion on something. This is an excellent video, as it made me and i’m sure many other people who thought that antony’s spins were stupid realise that there is nothing wrong with it and that many players do it and it’s part of the game.
Winning a game already, see a potential pass coming, defender not marking tightly? Might as well bust a spin waiting for that midfielder to make a run.... if only Case went for it :/
It says something when majority of the criticism is from pundits and not from fans most United fans want to see skills when Rashford does a flip flap the media has him up why not celebrate it for Antony
I don’t understand why some pundits have a hatred for flair in the game. It was the same thing a while ago when Richarlison did a couple of kick-ups. What’s the issue? Football is meant to be fun, not boring.
@@shabba7829 Pundits who played the game have a problem because showboating is seen as disrespecting the opposition and often ends up with one of them taking retribution.
people are giving antony credit for another player’s perfect run that opened space, not surprised tho judging by how they treat ronaldo i’m used to seeing utd fans give other players credit for something they didn’t do
@@bigbubbull Every time Ronaldo's on the pitch u can hear the fans singing viva Ronaldo. If u disrespect the team, then u deserve to be punished so idk why Ronaldo fanboys are crying
My Grandfather is 87 years old and seems to think that the Commies win if any player takes any joy from the game. My father is 66 and is able accept a player cracking a smile occasionally after making a really good play. I'm 35 and came of age just as Attempted Murder started to fall out of favor as the go-to response for showboating by an opponent. Now as many of my old friends from school have children reaching their teens, it seems like the attitude has finally changed to accepting that these are games, meant to be played for the enjoyment of the participants, and entertainment of the crowd.
Can we just appreciate that Irish Guy is one of the only football RU-vid doing forfeits when hes wrong! Man even got a Patti B Tattoo lol. I don't think people realize how hard some of these are.
I have absolutely no problem with Antony doing what he did. but what I do have an issue with is him doing that & then immediately giving away a goal kick
We live in the age where skillful brazilian like Anthony and Richarlison get booed for freestyling. Football community/memepage/stans on social media is more toxic and rubbish than my local sewer
My suspicion is that the purpose of the spin is to draw defenders towards him. When asked... Ten Hag didn't say Antony should not do the spin, he said Antony needs to deploy the trick when "its functional."... but the fact is this is not the first season these 2 are together... so ETH knows about it for sometime now.. and he signed him from Ajax anyway. So its very likely Antony will do again and ETH will probably not care as much as ppl want him to.
Because we have weird mentality in this country that talented people can’t know they are talented you have to be humble. Which is why we think Jordan Henderson is great.
People have no minds of their own anymore, they just repeat or debate whatever the pundits are saying, obviously anthony is a very talented footballer that will do a lot for man utd.
You raise some good points, but do we not all remember how Bruno Fernandes was celebrated as the greatest signing since fergie left and now he’s just someone who can only play pretty okay if the best footballer alive not named messi is benched?
So when is a video about the whole Grealish/Almiron debacle going to happen then? Surely, you, as a Newcastle fan, and not exactly a Grealish fan due to international allegations, would have something entertaining to say about this...
You compared Sancho to Park ? Ji Sung is actually really good. He is literally the proof of superposition. Dude is everywhere at the same time with the energy of 4 men.
He’s done good, but he’s no better than Nani was. To be clear, I think he’s a great player, but some people are saying he’ll be the best player in the league in 5 years which is just not true
While they criticise his skill they also forget to talk ab the arrogance, confidence and workrate he has. He reminds me of a young ronaldo with his personality. But yet he runs the pitch all the time. Been a fantastic signing and stats don’t just do him justice even if they are still good
See Antony getting told by the manager on that PARTICULAR OCASSION the twist ending was wrong given after that twist he shot the ball out for Goalkick when the score was 0-0 but that trick allowed Dalot to get open space to whom he should have passed. But telling him to quit that is stupid, that twist created the space for Dalot to run to so no it isn't useless, he could have done that to get past players and create chance. He should have been told by the manager to make a better pass at the end of it, that's it. And it's not even like he does it all the time to lose the ball or overcomplicate it like Ronaldo did when he was 18, No Methodical and systematic tricks can be useful.
To be fair Scholes didn't really criticise the spin, he criticised the awful pass, I mean if you are going to showboat then following it up by pretty much passing it out of play is a bit embarrassing.
@@tryinggaming414 "I love a little bit of showboating, and entertainment but at least get the pass right." I did read the articles and what he actually said. In fact most people aren't really criticising the spin, they are commenting that 1. He did it nowhere near anyone so it was completely pointless, he didn't beat a man or trick an opponent or do literally anything with it and 2. He boots the ball clear out of play. And no the pass is awful, for a professional footballer with that much time and space to overhit it that badly is poor, to do it after a pointless showboat is even worse.
@@tajj7 you clearly didnt watch the match because if Casemiro wasnt lazy enough to catch up to the ball he would have caught up to the ball as it did open up the space
If he used it to shake of a few defenders, then pinged it in to the box for an assist or scored him self then sure, it would have been great. Doing it when no one is close to him and that trying to brain one of the ballboys though makes it look pretty bad. Also, if the crowd needed lifting that bad then get "Swaz", he is great on the ball 😂
Lmao when Richarlison does keepie uppies he’s arrogant, when Antony does a ridiculous spin and sends the ball out of play it’s flair and creativity. Be consistent, either they’re both great or both crap.
@@anonymous-rb3jn sure… and when Richarlison won a free kick and got his opponent carded y’all called it stupid. Like I said, you don’t know what consistency means
Every english fan that is pissed about the spin is just some deluded crop of fans , As Ronaldinho , and Ronaldo(el fenomeno) and Jay Jay Okocha are legends because they expressed themselves on the pitch and not all the time did the tricks come off , but most of the time they do , and when they do come off they score spectacular goals , and provide glorious passes
All people complaining of the flashy move a professional is doing is annoying, you think i wanted to play or watch the sport because of agbonehor, I wanted to play this sport because of ronaldinho, Zidane, okocha, messi. Ronaldo r9, cr7, people who entertain you. So SHUT UP. let us enjoy the game. Its like people upset of vinicius dancing after scoring, why yall mad, if you don't want him to dance, DONT LET HIM SCORE, dont be mad that he celebrating, be mad that you can't stop him amd you suck and you need more time training
Just a suggestion why not once a month do like a European catchup similar to what you do for the prem? Sometimes all the prem content is a bit much even tho I enjoy every upload
Honestly I don’t care what anyone says but as an United fan he’s instantly become one of my favourite players at the club and wouldn’t change a thing he’s done so far. Fantastic signing, just old men overreacting
