I mean this does make sense to me, Pariston always struck me as someone trying to be a parody of that rich playboy and it never really struck me as anything other than a façade or an act. I mean we literally see his mask slip multiple times to the real person underneath, but all of it seems like an affectation or some sort of persona/coping mechanism, maybe even a split personality deal. If Pariston is really Sheila, or vice versa however you want to look at it I ain't judging, this would be one of THE top bombshells in HxH and would make the world so much better for it.

I have a feeling that Sheila is still loyal to her friends and all that she wants is to save them from the path they took after Sarasa's murder. I think her power gives her vague visions of the future. In her visions, Kurapika is her friends' saviour. She knew that Kurta clan were about to be massacred so she urged Kurapika to take that journey to see the world. She might have thought that someone who's seeking revenge is the one who, in a way, can bring her friends back to their senses. You might ask how is that possible since he was responsible for killing two of them. That's true. But it's also true that ever since the Phantom's encounter with Kurapika, they have changed quite a bit. It's like Uvogin and Paku's death brought them close to each other again. We see that clearly in the current arc. They even started questioning the things they do and recall the days when they were all just innocent children. That or Sheila was one twisted mofo who became Pariston later.

This makes me wonder if Sheila is Pariston’s nen ability, like he summons a friendly face to act as a spy or agent and to bait people into being friends as a trap. Having the ability set up dominoes for him to then knock down. Very humanoid nen beasts aren’t new between Bisky’s ability and nen doubles.

I’m actually surprised people are doubling down with this theory that Pariston is Sheila even after the flashback chapters. To me it’s more plausible (maybe too plausible) that Sheila either helped the Troupe with the massacre, or the other way around, tried to stop the Troupe but couldn’t. Makes sense why she’d announce the massacre this way, but of course it doesn’t explain what happen to her. Yeah, to me Pariston=Sheila is too far fetched and only based on the visual connections, but it could be true, we know Togashi likes to play with gender.

Just as the book somehow provided location or survailence on Kurapika's clan, the entire Hunter Association was also fearful of disobeying Pariston due to him somehow finding out. He also somehow has his hands in so many things in HxH that would require intelligence on those things. His nen ability might be related to surveilance. Guy has eyes everywhere

What if paristons hunt is “the world” which would explain alot of his actions. Him preventing dispatched hunters for the chimera ant ark led to netero dying, and to him gaining access to many many ant spawns. This also opens up travel to the dark continent on an extinction level exodus, as all who come back, will bring a piece of it back with them. What could be more precious than the entire world? Pariston loves to destroy all that is precious to him.

Another likely unrelated but neat to think about thing in regards to androgyny/gender with Togashi is that Togashi's wife also clearly likes playing with that theme. His wife, Naoko Takeuchi, is the creator of Sailor Moon, where you had Haruka occasionally passing as a man/dressing as a man, as well as the Starlights and whatever their deal is (either androgynous women crossdressing as men or magically changing between man and woman, depending on the version). So whether they just both like playing with themes like this or one of them rubbed off on the other, it's still kind of interesting to think about.

CONGRATS EVERYONE!!! We did it! We waited long enough!!! Tagashi started actively posting new tweets during whole May about updates on manga! We can now sit and wait little bit for new chapter to drop!

I think sheila is the one that did the massacre herself, much like she probably sold out her friend to the mafia so she can escape meteor city, she also worked with the mafia to take out the kurta, the phantom troupe came in just to check on her (given that chrollo built the dark website for criminals to post their crimes on) he was probably the first to hear about the kurta massacre, and if they kept an eye on sheila they would have known that she was somewhere around there (and given how similar this is to how their friend was killed) they went to check on sheila, they found the mafia, killed them, took credit to build their scary reputation so nobody would come near meteor, and sold those eyes.

This would he a neat twist. Too bad we will never know right

What if Pariston/Sheila's nen ability adds details to her book about the dark continent with each person she kills, which she found out with Sarasa's death. The more he/she cares about the person, the more details the book adds. He/she didn't realize that stipulation until after she caused the deaths of the Kurta clan but didn't get many details added. Just a thought...
