Very helpful, but I'm not sure how they were able to book 2 seats in first! It only ever looks like there's one!! AWESOME. I was able to book SYD - AUH - JFK for 2 seats on business class (flown this past summer), and Aeroplan wasn't showing the seats as available when I booked it nearly a year out either. It would show occasionally on the app... but essentially, if it shows availability on Etihad guest at the lower points rate, then call Aeroplan and usually they can book it for you. Sometimes you have to hang up and call again! ;) Best of luck to everyone trying!!

I'm still learning all the partner / alliance / loyalty programs between airlines, so how come you can find these Etihad seats through American, since Etihad doesn't belong to any alliance (according to the spreadsheet)? Either way, my main question would be, are there any other airlines like American where you can book the Apartment through them?

Could you please tell me the best Canadian credit card for earning travel points. Maybe you could do an article on the Daily Drop for your Canadian viewers. Thanks.

Not sure we should be encouraging people to get credit cards and spend loads to earn points

Can you do a special for people without access to US credit cards? E.g. if your are based in Europe...

Paid more than 72 dollars. Still great value but points aren't free.

Unless your buying points specifically, then they pretty much are free.

@@N18DTK pretty much free but not free 😂. I agree it's great value but it's a false dichotomy to say they are totally free.
@N18DTK
@N18DTK 11 месяцев назад
@agfjasdlkgjalsjdfl they are free unless you buy them. If your earning points on your credit card with your daily purchases then technically they are free!
@agfjasdlkgjalsjdfl
@agfjasdlkgjalsjdfl 11 месяцев назад
@@N18DTK points also have value. At 62k a person they could have been redeemed for something else. The points are not a free gift card. You have to generate a lot of organic spend for to accumulate them at "free" status.
@DC_Nomad
@DC_Nomad 10 месяцев назад
Not quite- There is an opportunity cost. For example you can choose to get a cash back type credit card (like Citi double cashback with 2% back), so you are essentially buying points for 2 cents each (when you choose to get points instead of the cashback @@N18DTK

When you buy a reward seat that you purchase using points do you have to pay entirely with points or can you pay some with points and the rest with cash? Reason I ask is I don't have looooads of points!
@DailyDrop
@DailyDrop 11 месяцев назад
Great question! It actually depends on the airline. Some like Delta SkyMiles allow you to pay points+cash as well as several hotel brands. But other airlines like Southwest have more of an all, or nothing set up. You’ll typically see a points+cash option on the checkout screen if it’s available. I hope this helps!
@DC_Nomad
@DC_Nomad 10 месяцев назад
Don't you need a Amex co branded credit card in order to take advantage of the points+cash option?@@DailyDrop
@N18DTK
@N18DTK 11 месяцев назад
So basically if you want to grab a good redemption flight with Etihad you need American Airlines miles as they dont accept AMEX, pretty useless information for anybody who doesnt live in USA or who uses American Airlines. Aeroplan had no availability so that isnt an option for those using AMEX. Plus the flight never cost them $72 bevause the taxes and fees come to more than that.

Yes! That "deal" for the Bilt card of 100k points sign up not only comes with a $595 yearly fee but you also have to spend $10k in the first three months of getting the card!! Like what?!! Hard pass.
