Today I am painting our house white! Its been a long time coming and we can finally start to seal our house with a special odor blocking paint that I bought at Sherwin Williams. I needed something that was safe to be applied to foam insulation and after talking with the Pros at Sherwin Williams they recommended a water based odor blocking primer to help seal the smoke and is safe on the insulation. I could only complete about 1/3 of the house so far but we are glad how it is coming out so far. I know I'm 7 months too late but here's my 2 cents for the next guy/time. It looks like you went pretty heavy on that first coat. Primer tries to trick you like that. There isn't much pigment in primer so if you are going by the color change as you paint you'll end up heavy. I think you are better off going with a light, consistent 1st coat. This will form a seal and on your second coat you can go heavier and make sure you have 100% coverage. Either way I'm curious how it turned out as far as blocking odor long term. For a job like this I would also highly recommend an extension for the gun. You'd be amazed at what even a 12 or 18" extension does. Way less movement and you can keep your spray pattern even as you get to the limits of your reach. Great work and keep on grinding!

Wow thanks Bob! I appreciate the support 🙌 Now for the odor blocking the paint has done a great job! I agree I went heavy on the first coat and severely underestimated how many gallons I needed! All in I used around 30 gallons of primer and it took around 2 weeks everyday after work to complete!

@@m.creekrenovations Like you said, better to spend more on paint now than to find out later you've got a smoke factory. One of my favorite sayings: There's only 2 types of people. Those that make mistakes constantly and those that don't do anything. Keep being the latter!
