That is exactly one of the best things about looking back on Splatoon 1 in retrospect. I think it's a very rare case where a game managed to capture the essence of its' era perfectly. If you were to show Splatoon 1 to someone that doesn't know much about Splatoon, they would know that the game came out in 2015 because the game just screams 2015 vibes.

I don’t think there’s one person who legitimately prefers the splat 3 version of Mahi over the og. It’s literally objectively a debate of good stage vs bad stage. Same with the other S1 stages, even if they aren’t terrible in S3, the ogs were still miles better. I’m talking about Mahi, flounder, hammerhead, and mueseum. Bluefin hasn’t come out yet at the time of my comment but I’m sure it’ll be the same story unfortunately. They like to make unnecessary changes that end up just being negative to S1 map ports.

Man remember when splatoon 1 stages were varied, interesting and gave you multiple options to get things done? What happened to that?

It's hard to describe, but it looks slower in...a good way? It seems a lot easier to process what's going on onscreen than in S3 or even S2.

Maybe because none of us are used to the game and didn't really care about the objective/play serious to win the matches but just chilled. I never played the game a lot so I'm not sure either 🤔

Maybe bc it's less explosion shots, bombs or chip dmg specials like missiles and crab so your stream isn't as cluttered and you don't get hit by lot of stuff at once

Splatoon 1 is very weird when used to S3. I played it on Pretendo during Nintendo's downtime already since I picked it up only two months or so ago. It's a very fun game, gyros so much better and map design something else for certain however. I'd love see the S1 map design making a comeback but on a somewhat smaller scale when it comes to map size.

0:25 Me too. I literally grinded the story mode which was fun and nostalgic, grinded the amiibo challenges to get the Samurai gear (I didn’t finish the rest), and I wasn’t able to battle once because there were never enough players because it’s literaly an 8 year old game. This game is so nostalgic and fun and I hope I get to try the Permanent Inkbrush in Splatoon 1 before the servers permanently shut down.

I feel like specials are much more powerful in the first game. I never played it so I don’t know if charge amounts are higher or something but the newer specials are not as strong (Also the rainmaker is actually good to have now)

Weapons don't paint as well so it does take a lot longer to get specials .

I'm really greatfull for you and chara posting your videos ,because they notified me of the servers going up again. Honestly I thought the system ending error was just nintendos way to cover up the fact that the are closing the servers. Really glad the servers returned ,ever since the servers shut down my Wii u was gathering dust ,but now it's going to see some action again.

If looking down is distracting, get into the habit of holding the gamepad more in front of you (I am pretty sure splatoon 1 does not have motion controls?) or moving your gamepad up to see the map and quickly moving it back down
