Fun fact: the black sand is called 'Slag' and it's leftover material from mining operations in Anaconda back in the day (There's just piles of it abandoned). It was Jack's idea to grind it up and use it as the bunker material. It's really dense so the balls don't sink low like sand and it's a bit easier to hit out of imo.

Old Works is an awesome course and one of my favorites. My family has a condo in Fairmont which is about 20 minutes from Old Works so I've played the course about 30 times or so. One course you have to play in Montana next time you're here is Whitefish Lakes. Both the north and south course are amazing. Flathead lake, tons of trees and mountains. The views are even better than the course and the course itself is fantastic!

The schools mascot is actually the Anaconda Copperheads. Anaconda/Butte was famous for copper mining

Worked out in round up, montana building a coal plant out there years ago. Unfortunately didnt get a chance to golf while i was out there. Working 7 days a week at the time made it hard. Haha, love the series guys.

I have a ball with a bit of that slag embedded in it. It came from a bunker directly in front of one of the greens on that course. I played out of the bunker and holed the shot. When I retrieved my ball, it had that slag in it.

Come back out to California, 1/2 an hour from Sacramento is Dark Horse golf course. Beautiful in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Then head up to Truckee PGA stop Old Greenwood then over to Edgewood in Lake Tahoe. Mountain courses in this area are awesome. Great series…best on Utube.
