I’d suggest an oil filter relocation kit for the filter. That’s really tight to the header. Engine looks good in the car! 👍

When you said the white FD RX-7 build was 6-7 years ago my jaw dropped... You're rebuilding an LS while I'm rebuilding my KA; I'm actually block-sanding my timing covers while I watch this in prep for the paint booth. I've already soaked the head, pistons, cams, oil pump, buckets and valves in Diesel, gave them a scrub and they went from poop brown to bright shiny silver. Thankfully, no signs of hot spots on the cams or bearings, and the cross-hatching was good on all 4 cylinders. My head gasket failed around cylinder 4 (exterior oil leak) and it was a mess to clean, but my timing chains and tensioners were looking a lot better at 185k than the tensioner in that LS3. Yikes. Giving everything on the exterior a coating of high-temp enamel tomorrow; beginning with primer, basecoat (for lettering), Cast Iron topcoat, then gloss clear to seal it off and give it shine. All the engine bits will be flushed with parts cleaner then soaked in hot oil for a few days prior to reassembly. My KA will be looking just as minty fresh as that LS when it's done; only you're gonna have a full 375HP advantage over my (stock) KA when you're done. 😂 A bit jealous, NGL. Glad you guys caught the damage in time and did a proper teardown before gifting the car...you don't really know 'til you know, you know? Loved watching this build start to finish. Looking forward to the finished product. Keep it up y'all!

Killer vid add usual. For thread repairs, where there's enough meat in the parent material, look into stocking some Timesert options. They can be a lot more robust (depending on the parent material) and are a more permanent repair when compared to a helicoil.

Why not reroute the oil filter location? I mean it’s commonly done for other cars as well Calvin seems pretty capable of figuring out a way or making something to be able to reroute it if worried about it being so close to the headers

Pretty sure you should be using the tw300 pump with that much engine, my ls1 monaro is 350 hp and the 300 is the version needed.
