Ed, co-driving this run with you and Dan was the best time I’ve ever had in a car (and I’ve had some really good times in cars :)! Our Musketball was truly one of the high points of my life.

Driving slow cars fast is Fun! I remember in 03-04 the Murano came out and going to Nissan Headquarters seeing bays full of blown CVT's at the same time Isuzu had two bays at our dealer full of short blocks from ring issues on the 3.5. Commenting off the opening line haha Love your content!

I got very excited at 6:54 in the video. Thought it was a Cavalier station wagon at first. I was one of the proud owners of Wagonstein. A 1991 Chevy Cavalier station wagon that was slightly modified with a turbocharged 3.1L V6 and a 5 speed manual transmission. It has been 15 years since I owned it. But alas, that appears to be a Chevy Celebrity station wagon. Good times!!!

That blue fiat with the wing and race livery i actually saw and tried to contact on cb. Thing looks awesome. I was on my way back from California on i10 in Arizona. I love seeing stuff like this, it breaks up the boring part of hauling a load from coast to coast every week.

I like the 100hp limit. Next time I think fuel cells should be outlawed. Make it something like a 12 gallon or 50 liter limit.

The most extraordinary thing in this whole story is that an XM of all things managed to go at full blast across the US continent, must have had one hell of a going thru before that, :D Awesome as they are they are not really known for their reliability...to put it mildly. Great to see one on US roads however.

It's a great feeling when your daily is much too powerful (170hp)for a form of motorsports. Doesnt happen often, so you have to celebrate the win without reading the fine print.

I miss my 1992 Mazda 323 with an 82 hp engine. It was fun to drive with the wider tires I put on it (175 Pirellis to replace the stock 155).

Ed always knocks it out of the park at story time. I was sad that i couldnt make it to the run in person, but elated that i made it in full sized cardboard cut out lol

The Fiat 500 in the '60s Gulf racing livery was a truly inspired deco choice.

Drove one of those Corollas from Toronto to Alabama and back two years ago during Canadian Thanksgiving. It was a wild ride - but fuel economy was great (better than what Ed mentioned) and it was cheaper than any flight tickets at that time :P

When I get my Mazda B2000 running, I'd love to join in on that Musketball run some time. The engine is rated at 120 hp at the crank, so I think that I'm good there.

I got to catch the live stream. That was alot of funny to see a bit of the inside to one of these rallies. The shootgun start was to funny. Chris was driving the wheels of that car. :) glad everyone made it there safely.

You should have another where the maximum speed is 55 which is why the cannonball originated. of course you will be pulled over for going to slow :D

That spike might have been due to the toyota cvt having a physical launch gear. Peaking at 118 seems about right for a standard auto transmission drivetrain loss. Tho the loss in a cvt drivetrain is crazy. Didn't know it was that high.

Underpowered can be somewhat fun actually. I daily a 80hp mk6 Golf and any type of semi-spirited driving or simply driving outside of a town means working the gas pedal and shifter like I'm on a racetrack.Is it fun? Yeah! I need to get the most out of the car and my driving skills to keep with the flow of traffic (or slightly above) and it beats using 10% of an AMG 99% of the time.

What's my tag line? Nobody cares about something.... Here's another one... Nothing hones your driving skill like driving a slow car fast! Anyone else wonder if Ed is gunning for the El Chapo Maclaren?!

Suggestions. 1984 dodge colt turbo. Great mpg light and 102 bhp. So like 80whp but a little backyard hack gets you to 100 or shhh a little more. Suzuki swift gti. Same as above.

I do have some Citroen XM experience (my family has had 4) and my first car was a hand me down XM. The diesels 2.1 and 2.5 ran out of go at 4k rpm and 175kph on the speedo, my dad might not have been happy when I admited to this years later. I never had them checked on gps, great comfortable cruisers though the one I had was a Wagon so super spacious. That said got about 40mpg in that wagon that fit 4 widw(not legal) in the back.

If you are buying a CVT, I really doubt you care about the extra horsepower loss. CVTs are all about fuel economy, and provide a smoother driving experience. They suck at performance, but that's not the point of one

CVTs are HORRIBLE!!! eCVTs though are GREAT!!!

Pretty awesome to see a Citroën XM in the USA. French cars aren't that common on your side of the ocean. That being said: you guys should come visit Europe and compete in a Carbage Run! By the way: both of my daily drivers are sub 100 hp. Perhaps even when combined. 😂

I've always had this odd idea of riding a Honda Trail 90 (or 110) across the U.S.. Really smell the roses. I've owned many many real monocycles, I also have own three CT90's over the years. Never took one on a ride longer than 100 miles. I propose an event - "The BeeBee Run"! Limited to vehicles that are not freeway legal. For motorcycles that's usually less than 150CC engine displacement. The new Honda 125 models would be ideal. I don't think there would be any cars. Even though some wheezy old VW microbus or Datsun PU can't really crack 60-65, it seems like any old car, however slow, can legally go out on the highways. So 2,800 miles of 50-60 MPH on backroads hoping you don't get run over from behind. I'm thinking 60-70 hours would be a serious time. Obviously, you'll have to get some sleep along the way. Trying to ride two up would probably slow you down to the point that there is no advantage changing "drivers". Besides, I cannot even contemplate riding for days as pillion on a Honda 125.
