not everyone gets this album, it’s my favorite lana album and the perfect fall album in my opinion, not a lot of people know this but it’s mostly made up of unreleased outtakes from previous albums that never made it like nectar of the gods and cherry blossom were supposed to be on ultra violence but were scrapped and eventually reworked to fit this album
This is definitely one of her best. Some of the best Ultraviolence era tracks, along with songs similar to Chemtrails Over The Country Club. It's like my fav three albums of hers combined.
A lot of people know it’s unreleased outtakes. That’s why some people were really upset. I remember hearing a lot of complaints during the first 5 hours it was released. I was in a huge thread and people were saying this album felt like a blooper, which I DISAGREE WITH. But honestly, while I LOVE this album, it’s a weaker one when you pair them with the ones between it. That being said, I listen to this album at least once every two months lmao
Also I understand your reaction to this album. This is one of those albums where its like you kinda have to be there in order to fully grasp and understand what she's talking about in a lot of these songs. Blue Banisters came out during a not so great time for Lana between her relationship ending, the pandemic, black lives matter and the media terrorizing lana for gaining weight during the pandemic there were a lot of emotions in the making of this album.
i think this album is more specific for the fans to understand her stories even more, its for the Lana lore edit: and it's the album with most "unreleased" songs. Dealer, Thunder, Nectar, Living Legend, Cherry Blossom, those were all unreleased songs, written long before this album. this album is definitely for the long time fans ps. That "guitar solo" was actually her voice 😂
Blue Banisters (title track) she met a man who made all these life promises to her (paint her banisters blue, give her children) but he didn’t follow through, her sisters/friends step in instead to heal/support her & paint them instead - banisters going from blue to green/grey could also symbolise bruises from the hurt caused by this man
please don't just listen to the album, you really have to take in the lyrics, maybe check out Genius while listening to it. that was a big reason this album wasn't as good to you lot as other albums have been. Lyrics (like Ocean Blvd are personal to her and if you know nothing about her life during that time period, it just ain't going to hit). Truthfully reading lyrics and getting a touch of Genius is a MUST for Ocean Blvd album. Otherwise I'm 100% sure it's going to go over y'alls heads.
Another thing about this album is that she didn’t even promote it not once she wasn’t really wanting to put this project out because it told a lot about her personal story she said “the album is there for the ones who really care and want to know more but nothing else”
Can’t wait for Ocean Blvd reaction! I will warn you, the album has really long drawn out songs because the subject matter is heavy and talks about her personal life. This entire album talks about her personal life a lot, so bring some tissues. The best way to describe this album is what the title says: tunnel. You come to a tunnel with all your pain and grief and mistakes, and as you travel through the tunnel it gets darker, and your sorrow overfills, but you then see a light at the end of the tunnel, and your worries and pain slowly vanishes away. The bulk of the album is piano, with two interludes. The interludes are there to tell a story but other than that, they are not really interesting or have replay value. The beginning of the album is more dark and sinister, with piano ballads. The middle of the album is still piano but it’s more ominous in production, talking about very heavy things. And the end of the album is more lighter lyrics and production, with experimental production and trap beats.
Yeah tho I'm a bit scared that they'll miss out on it, because they don't focus (nor care, from what I see) about the lyrics and Ocean Blvd is all about the lyricism
Lana said she wanted nobody to listen to this album except her fans because she just wanted to tell them where's she at in her life. Ocean blvd now man that's a masterpiece.
This album can seem messy by the lyrics to people who really dont understand her backstory and love life in a way and whay happened in 2020-2021 but i feel like you guys should’ve have at least looked at the meaning behind the songs because this is like a first time lana really opens up about her life and she continues it with ocean blvd but truly this is an album that people should look into the lyrics yk cause its such a personal album.
When listening to Ocean Blvd (and any Lana album really) please read the lyrics while listening! Otherwise it's easy to miss the meaning, which is the main point of her music imo
Black bathing suit in the end she talks about and also in a frustrated voice about how people talk about her ( her gaining weight ) and she says that they might talk about her body and how they know her better than she does and even tho they talk about her shes still making money from that talk so she just thanking them
This album is very personal and experimental, but it’s also very beautiful. I love this album so much and it’s my favorite that Lana has made. I think for you guys to enjoy Lana’s music more, you should start by listening to the lyrics a little more closely so that you can try to understand the nuance and storytelling rather than just focusing on whether you like the beat
After you react to tunnels you should react to her poetry album Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass. Spoken word poetry by Lana over some piano instrumentals. You guys would like it especially if you guys end up liking tunnels.
Im a fans of this album and this is my best and fav album ive ever heard. Its really hard to listen. It took me 2 years to listen to it and finally liked it
At least from what I’ve read, it is believed blue banisters is about a past abusive relationship and healing from the trauma. The blue banisters are supposed to represent bruises and the way they start out blue and as they heal the fade to green and then gray.
