What a mess. Seeing all that trash just made me sad. Every time I head out to the woods I ended up coming home with a few bags of someone else's garage. Great thing those guys are doing. Thank for the video

I'm glad you posted your message you just reminded me, I have a bag of trash in my car from the last outing I went on🤣. It is nice to see I'm not alone. Please keep it up !!!! You are not alone, some of us do care about our planet and are picking up the garbage along our way💚. Just wondering if you do not pick up a piece of trash, do you have dreams about it ? I do, they end up being nightmares so I pick up the trash🌲😆😂.

For those unfamiliar with these cleanup parties, bring sturdy gloves and footwear. There is often broken glass, sharp metal and sometimes hypodermic needles at these sites in addition to biohazards. If you have additional rakes, hard-rakes and shovels, bring those too! The organizers should have free vouchers for the Knott landfill for anyone volunteering their truck or trailer. These parties are for a great cause and the before & after photos leave you with a great feeling knowing your team made such a difference!

Drove through Bend, many years ago, after delivering a trailer. Looked like a good town, wanted to stop to eat but at that time I was trying to outrun an incoming storm (didn't quite do that ... long story). I believe there is a horse rescue outfit near there. Many of those horses are now therapy horses for emotionally traumatized children. By all I've seen, it is an outfit worthy supporting. Let them know what you want to do out there, they may have people that are interested and willing to provide some "hayburner help." As fun as off road vehicles may be, they can't go in all places a horse can.

Jason at Primal Outdoors was recently commenting about this same problem. My comment was : no matter where I've been, from Korea, to Taiwan, to Saudi Arabia, to Kenya, the same thing happens everywhere. Anytime a large group of people get together in the same place they start dumping their trash around them. The bigger the group, the farther out the trash gets spread. It reaffirms my opinion that the larger the group is, the lower their collective IQ becomes.

That's unbelievable what people will do to the wilderness. I love the central Oregon area. I wish I lived closer to help but I'm 4 hours away. I tried to get a friend that rides over there to go with me to share the driving but doesn't look like it's going to work out. I help run a local riding area and know how hard it can be to get volunteers to help. Good luck and great work.

Thanks for helping out Casey! I can’t help but think about how the Deschutes Forest’s housing crisis is Bend’s housing crisis, is Portland’s housing crisis, is America’s housing crisis. We really need massive housing development in our urban cities so that people don’t have to live out in the forest.

The ORV group I was a member of until I moved out of state used to do cleanup days a few times a year. The turnout would be huge. There would long columns of vehicles hauling trash out. People with pickups or trailers would haul, everyone else would load. I would make a dozen trips with my M416. We presented our clean-up efforts to the state government when an environmentalist group lobbied to shut down ORV access to the land. We won.

@@knghopper I clean up every camp site that I use and leave it better than before I got there. The trouble is the two legged pigs don't restrict themselves to camp sites, they destroy everywhere their feet walk. I've seen the most disgusting thing thrown on the ground including diapers and feminine products. They have no shame. Many hunters are no better. The thing that bothers me most is all the broken glass. Fire pits are also full of trash that doesn't burn. It's disgusting and very frustrating cleaning up after two legged pigs.

Didn’t watch enough of this to catch whether this was state or federal land. We’ve tried to deal with camps along the Sandy River by Troutdale, and we found the state (DSL), county, and even the Sheriffs have been nothing but obstacles in addressing what has turned out to be a environmental disaster with upwards of 70 people (no doubt way more by now), in a flood plain no less. There’s trash, assaults, stolen material (fortunately not many vehicles), drug paraphernalia... it’s a mess. A local mayor penned an op-ed threatening those who are trying to get this addressed with arrest, but these are the same officials who do nothing but let public land get trashed. Of course, the Portland area proper has camps along every wide spot with stolen and parted-out vehicles everywhere. Good for you for getting these places cleaned up!

It’s so sad to read your experience on the clean up. Why on earth would the people that have been hit and have property damage pick on and damage the equipment of the people trying to HELP them?!? Not only are they helping them they’re doing it for free, there’s no personal gain for ANY of the volunteers yet the people needing the help purposefully damage the volunteers trucks? Why? Was there some tension between the home owners and the city where they incorrectly thought the volunteers were city employees so they targeted them (which is still wrong and makes no sense by the way!)I just can’t fathom why anyone would want to damage volunteers equipment when all they’re doing it trying to help.

Great group there, more people need to do this kind of thing! Many more people need to account for their trash and abandoned stuff! Public lands, for all to use, for all to take good care of. If I was anywhere close to their I’d be there. And I can barely walk a hundred feet before I can’t feel my legs. Severe back issues limits my mobility. But where I go, I leave nothing but tire prints. As my late wife would say, if it don’t grow there or live there, don’t put it there. She had people riding with her in the car, they would throw something out the window. My wife would turn around go back and make them pick it up. Even on the interstate. It’s really simple, be responsible for your own presence and what you leave behind!

Casey, I sure wish I could come out on the 26th, by the way is my birthday, but since I live in Jacksonville, Florida I don't think it will be possible. I just want to say I've been watching your channel for pretty much the whole winter months and it just amazes me with everything that you do. From patrolling your neighborhood roads and making sure they are dragged so that you and your neighbors have safe roads to drive on, to all the recovery that you have done throughout the season and now with this clean up that you are going to do to keep your woods beautiful is just amazing. By watching the video it seems like there's a great group of guys that have gotten together to help keep your community and others clean for like you said not only for people to Camp but also for the habitat for the animals and also to keep the animals safe. Keep up the good work as I feel you need to run for some type of political office so that it would make it easier for you to get things done in your counties and even maybe the state. I have to say I would love to be able to come out and meet you in person because you are a mentor to many people. Please don't stop making your videos as they are a pleasure to watch and I look forward to seeing each and every one of them. I have to say what you put together for John the veteran is so awesome. I wish I could have donated towards that fund but I am disabled due to diabetes and have recently had the last of my toes on my right foot removed. So money is tight for me right now. Really cool that you're taking part of this. I have been a part of several homeless camps around the country, but I've always been fortunate enough to have a vehicle at those times and always hauled off our trash, or worst case buried it deep. But I know that isn't the norm. Now that I've got an improved life I volunteer with local trail groups and do maintenance and cleanup several times a year. Goal is to become a forest service member and let that sort of be a career.

It's bad here in southern ore also. I'd like to figure a way to do this here. Gates are going up everywhere. I work as a watchman for logging and the things I see are real bad. Thanks for doing this.

People have been leaving garbage in the woods around Bend as long as I can remember. Back in the 70's we found a 68 Vette under a bunch of brush on the SW side of Water Tank hill (Overturf Butte), naturally, it was stolen, but we'd always find crap that people would dump, particularly around the pumice pits. I understand that all of that area on the west side is overwhelmed with subdivisions now... Problem solved. I was out around the east side of Bend back in October of last year, and couldn't believe the amount of crap laying around in some places. A bunch of homeless makeshift shelters, and loads of trash everywhere... People were living in them, and it was kinda creepy. Good job taking the time to clean up these messes.

Thanks for bringing attention to the ongoing trash issue in the back country. I am overlanding in Six Rivers/Smith River area and pick up trash everywhere I go out here. It's great to see the effort of everybody to keep these public lands open to all. Leave No Trace. ❣🌎😎

Nice to see a full description of a Volunteer Call. Especially in enough time for a person to sign up. Video nicely done. Enjoy your videos with responsible adult interaction.

We need more people like Casey and we also need better education and enforcement of the litter laws. As casey said, many people are just basically lazy and don't care. Our favorite target practice area on public lands in central Arizona is now closed because people rather than be satisfied with paper targets or steel silhouettes, haul old water heaters and televisions out there, shoot them up and just leave them. I used to go out with my dump trailer and try to clean up, but they were trashing faster than I could clean up.

It would seem the missing arm of this effort would be to find private pilot's with aircraft , ultra-lights or para sails to be able to do searches of large area from the air that then are handled by clean up crews . You could reach out to someone like Trent Palmer who has a number of friends with bush planes .

The government could make this better by helping people who are priced out of their life by rising home and rent prices. They also could help the state's clean up budget out by putting out 40 yard dumpsters at turn out areas so people could bring their garbage and dump it for free. Virginia did this many years ago and found their required clean up resources, ( ie; people. vehicles, and equipment required to go out and clean up illegal dumped garbage) dropped a great deal. You and these folks are doing a great service and we thank you.

the government actually is helping out now, they're driving the economy into a death spiral which may rival the great depression. If everyone is broke and homeless, no one is.
