Last year after more than 45 years a group of young Moçambicans from the Instituto Santo Irineu invited the SSPX from South Africa to celebrate the Mass of ages. Actually Portugal has 5 Latin Mass parish churches. Two (local dioceses) in Lisboa, another one SSPX chapel in Lisboa, one SSPX chapel in Fatima and FSSP in a small down in Central Portugal. So true that elsewhere in Portugal and with all of the beautiful churches there is no other Latin Mass. So sad.

We have a problem, yes, and it is that we aren't adressing the elephant in the room: the SSPX. I understand that people want to cling to a dead document like Summorum Pontificum and try to remain in "full communion" (a modernist concept by the way), but saying things like Portugal has only one Holy Mass center is just dishonest.

Took me one week to learn to serve the TLM. If i can learn it anyone can. More difficult for a priest. But all i did was ask the canon to give me 10 mins before his preparation to teach me. I went home spent about 1hr each day to learn the latin responses. So, strictly speaking it took me about 9hrs to learn.

I remember with fondness and melancholy the Latin masses of my youth. The organ playing, the choir singing heavenly songs, the crowds loudly signing and the awe to receive communion. Nw my former parish church has been renovated and is more beautiful than ever but it s soul is dying. Back in the day, the soul reverberated in everyone attending. Keep strong.

Problem. Some of the dioceses where you have green dots that “haven’t” restricted the TLM actually have done so. It was under the table. Two dioceses that I’m associated with cut out the little parishes that had monthly TLMs or told laity requesting the TLM for years that it wouldn’t happen. It wasn’t official and never announced, but the priests were privately told by the chancery to stop doing it. I really want this to succeed. However, in my diocese, we already have priests that can celebrate the Mass. it’s just that the bishop IS restricting them! And we live in one of those green dot dioceses. We need tools to change bishops’ hearts. Maybe I will send one of your kits to our bishop himself…. 🤔

We shouldn’t ever condemn people for attending a valid and licit mass of any form/rite. We should simply be showing the beauty of the tradition! O Crux Ave Spes Unica

Great important message but you forgot the Society of St Pius X without whom the Latin Mass would have completely disappeared in 1960's. Poor oversight not to mention FSSPX who more than anyone are preserving the traditional faith and training of traditional Priests in the entirety of the faith handed down. Fraternity of St Peter and Institute of Christ the King despite celebrating the Latin Mass unfortunately are compromised regarding the faith.

Yeah I understand why you’re leaving out the SSPX since they’re controversial even within the Latin Mass movement, but I think a lot of people, myself included, have become way more sympathetic to the SSPX the past few years. Plus they’re as big as all the other Latin Mass orders combined, with 72 new seminarians starting this fall.

I didn't even know how good I have in Poland. In the nearest big city there are six Traditional Latin Masses - from which the half is FSSPX. The FSSPX alone has around 30 parishes in Poland...

St John Cantius Church in Chicago airs their Masses on Wednesday evening and on Sunday, God bless these holy priests.

Has anyone at Mass of the Ages reached/heard of the Latin Mass Directory? It’s how I found every Roman rite parish I’ve ever been to, but few laypeople and clergy seem to be aware of this resource. Cooperation between LMD and MotA could lead to a whole greater than its parts.

I attended my first Latin mass with my wife yesterday night. A beautiful church, beautiful choir. Still processing it. It was so very different from the novus ordo.
