I would have never known anything about Iwakuni if it weren’t for you and Linda! Moving can be stressful and exciting at the same time and I’m very excited to see where you all end up!
I live in Yokohama near Kamakura. houses in Kamakura and the beach area(shonan) can be very expensive and the traffic is the worst especially during summer cuz there is no beach in Tokyo so people in tokyo come to shonan during summer. If u want a big house with backyard, areas like Yokosuka, Fujisawa, Chigasaki, Hiratsuka, or Sakae-ku(Yokohama but right next to Kamakura) have much cheaper options and less populated.
Went to Kamakura in January and it was wonderful! I think I almost liked it more than Tokyo 🤫🤫 such a great place to raise your kiddo too! So beautiful but accessible! Take lots of trips to Enoshima island too!!
I would recommend you live in Kamakura or Hayama area it’s beautiful, you still have have that country side feeling! Lots of family friendly places too, beaches and Mtn. Fuji views. We also lived in Uraga area which is opposite of Yokosuka (where I am assuming you will attached too in some way😉) I really enjoyed that side , you can jump fast to Muirakaigan area which is similar to Iwakuni style of country, tons of fields growing veggies year around and great sakura viewing spots.
I’m currently in Rota, Spain and I think you made the right choice. If I could go back to Japan, I would do it in a heartbeat. I’m happy for your new adventures!
Having air conditioning is nice for one lol. I love and live in Japan, but I had a friend who lived in Spain and had to share a fan with her roommates 😭
Thank you very much for giving me a chance to know about Iwakuni, a city that many foreigners don't know! As a resident of Yamaguchi Prefecture, I thank you. May you enjoy your life as you do wherever you go!
That's great that you'll have actual family (aunt and uncle) there in Japan. You'll be able to show them things about Japan. Looking forward to your new adventure.
I live in the Hakone area. You should definitely check out Odawara. It's close to the urban life and a hop away from the mountains, sea, and hot springs. It's also a hub station, the rapid trains stop there. The area has all of the shopping you need and is a big commuter area for people that work in Tokyo. 35 minutes to Tokyo Station on the Shinkensen.
Kanagawa is an underrated area. I love Yokohama and it is such a fun, gorgeous city to walk around in. Of course being close to Tokyo is going to open up your family to so many fun opportunities and possibilities! I loved living in the area for the last couple of years and hope I can return someday.
Omg! I can’t believe it! I’ve been watching your videos for over a year preparing for our move to Iwakuni. Now that we got here a month ago, you are leaving!! It’s so crazy!! We saw you walking on the street our first week here btw and had a “fangirl moment” in the car. Lol.
My son is visiting his boyfriend who is performing for a year in universal studios Harry Potter world. He is staying in Osaka and has visited Tokyo, Hiroshima and has a trip planned to go to Kyoto. He said I would love it there! Good luck with your move!!! Love your videos!!!
Good Luck with the move !!! I’ve never been to Kanagawa yet but it is on my to go list 😍 so hopefully can see you there one day or in Tokyo!! Have fun with the road trip !! ( I LOVE ROAD TRIPS IN JAPAN) I live in Hokkaido so I always have the best road trips around here 🎉🎉 Good Luck once again and waiting to see the house hunting experience for future reference 🤩🙏🏻
Kamakura is quite nice and there's a nice American ex-pat community there. Iwakuni was really nice though and I really want to thank you for highlighting Iwakuni and Chugoku sites.
We just moved back to the States from Yamato, Kanagawa, and now I'm so sad we missed you! You're going to love Kanagawa, though. We loved it so much that we're already planning on going back!
I love Kanagawa. It’s close to Tokyo but far enough away to enjoy a little more slower life (in Japan standards haha). I loved living in Nagoya the best, though.
My wife's mom lives in Kanagawa. We love it there. Homes are super cheap in my mother in law's hometown. I haven't spent much time in Kamakura but it's supposed to be very nice. Lots of wealthy people there I guess. And close to the ocean, no ???
So cool! Idk how I would feel about someone else packing my stuff, I’m sure people are much more trustworthy than the US. I’ve heard horror stories from over here so now I worry. We drove 19hrs with a dog and 2 kids. Only stopped for lunch and a few potty breaks. Took use 23hrs total fun times! Lol
I knew you will move to Japan, I am happy for your family and your relatives are also moving to Japan so wow busy. I would like to suggest, Bassett's bouken. She lives in not Kamakura area but in Yokohama.
If you want see Mt.Fuji from Kanagawa you need find a house close to Enoshima. You can see Mt.Fuji from there, mainly on winter but not all year as far I know. He is too far.
🌊🌊🌊 Thank you so much for posting videos about east Asia. Like it’s kind of a mystery to Americans even as I am Chinese. Like so happy to share this with my new little niece. It would be say cool to show her what’s it like in the east.
So excited for you and can't wait to see your new adventures!! Iwakuni will always be in your heart and still close enough for you to visit . So great your aunt and uncle will be nearby too now ! Wishing you so much joy and happiness on your new adventure!!
We are Americans who live in Ayase. It’s a perfect location. Close to Kamakura,Hakone, etc.. there are farms around us. Check Ayase out. It’s a great location.
We kinda figured something like this was up. I hope you at least reached out to Alex the real estate guy who has his own channel and has been on the Abroad channel and a couple of others. Glad to hear you are staying in Japan as you seem to have adapted to it and enjoy both the features and challenges!
we just drove from hiroshima (we started all the way in kyushu) to yokosuka a couple of months ago, with our baby. we’ve been road tripping all over japan in our car, and while we enjoy it a bit more than our baby, it’s truly the best way to travel japan. very excited to follow your new adventures in kanagawa! 😊
Oh my goodness!! I’m so excited for you and your family’s new adventure!! That’s so cool that you’ll have family in the area and you’ll be able to see them and meet up with other creators. I’m glad that you guys will still be in Japan so you can still meet up with your friends from Iwakuni! Good luck with house hunting and can’t wait to see the vlogs and more content! ❤❤❤
We just left Iwakuni last month after almost six years and are heading to Bermuda. It was a tough choice, but seems like the right one. Best wishes to you all on your next adventure.
@tokyoportfolio Alex, is a realtor in the Tokyo area. He's helping Chris Abroad (@abroadinjapan) and Sharla in Japan find a house in the Tokyo area. There's some really cool looking houses in the area.
Really excited for this new chapter in the Atlas Family! Even though moving can be scary, it’s gonna be an amazing new adventure. Can’t wait to explore all those new places with you ♥️
Best wishes on your new adventure! I appreciated that you SHARED the Japenese country side with us. We would love to stop by your old stomping grounds as tourists when we come to Japan to get to experience the culture of the country life.
We just moved from the Kanagawa Prefecture in May! We had the opportunity to live in Japan twice in the last 10 years. We lived on Atsugi Base and it was the best. I miss Japan so much! Safe travel and cheers to new adventures for you and your family! ❤🇯🇵
Thank you so much! I hope we find something family and pet friendly! I would love to live near a beautiful park or garden to explore with Gus-Gus! Her deserves it
