When I put my new valve covers on with that same type of alternator, I had to Clock, the alternator which other people had mentioned. That particular style alternator, take off the pulley and the fan and loosen the three bolts. Take them out that hold the front cover on you just have to tap it just enough so you can rotate the front opposite of back to get the right clock position and re-tighten it. You don’t even have to pull it all the way apart because some of those are soldered together the connections and you can’t take it all the way. 15 minute job tops.
Pro tip a charging alternator will have a magnetic field on the rear bearing. You can test it with a screwdriver lightly touching the back center of the alternator.
Hannah, just because you have an air mattress in a U-haul truck don't make it and air B and B , unless you leave the bank door up You 2 are gonna curupt jayla 🤣
funny how your intro is at the gas station right by my house lol....I know your in southern Indiana but if you guys need anything custom painted let me know..be happy to do it for ya.
From a guy who owns a Fleetwood 75, to you guys, your life has just changed. These cars are incredible. Driving them is amazing, but you have to sit in the back from time to time, and have someone else you trust drive it, so you can enjoy the full experience. Cheers, from New Zealand.
Man , Michigan Adventure is a 15min. drive from my house . Wish I knew you were coming up . I have Grandkids working there . I could of got you some free tickets .
Make sure the ground lead isn't just connected to the block, aluminum gets hot and you loose your ground, you'll be replacing more alternators. It's best to keep the ground lead connected to the steel alternator bracket. Great video good looking ole limo, looking forward to see what you do with her.
My folks had had a white Limo just like yawls, to haul 6 kids around back in the early 70's. Dad was in the Airforce so it was a Volkswagen Bus for a while till the Limo came around. My older 3 siblings would have mom stop a block from school and let them out, They would not be caught dead in it. We moved to Germany and had it shipped over there, I thought we were PIMPEN!!! LOL
GM alternators are very easy to clock. Just google it no need to wait My guess is most all your issues are voltage related i have two vehicles with the same motor and have had almost identical issues when the alt fails. Love the cadi!
Hey Cory. To check a Alternator to see if it is Charging. Put a Screwdriver on the rear Bearing of Alternator. It will Magnet to Screwdriver. If it don't. It's Not Charging.
Probably too late now but the older GM rebuilds or new after market alts had to be clocked or rotated into the correct position. But if not done correctly when the case halves were opened up things inside could jump out of place (mainly the brushes)) Enjoyed the video as always. Cummins12v or 24v that Caddy. Take care folks.
Lesson learned, if you're having car issues and it's still running and not overheating. Keep going till you get to the next town, or at least get to a gas station.
You guys were about an hour and a half south of me and those people were camping in Travers City which is about an hour from me!! If you ever get back to this area say something on Wednesday night so I might have a chance to see you. Glad you made it home safely and that’s another awesome Caddy
You guys did great only thing i see is you need AAA for those moments when all hell breaks loose..but 10 years from now when you roughed it out is going to put a smile on your face
The pre OBD2 GM fuel injection you have to disconnect that brown wire to set timing to zero. Once it’s reconnected the computer takes over.awesome car keep up the videos!
You did the right thing Cory staying with the gals and the car. Walking around in unformilar neighborhoods is not a wise decision. Good thing you made a call to your Pop's glade you made that call.
Love you guys Haowever we hate Air B and B's Nothing is worse than a bunch of people living in the house next to you don't know.and thay driving through your nabershood like thay just don't care about you are your family.Hope you guys have a good trip.
Good on you Kory stay with your wife and niece. Get classic car insurance that provides roadside assistance and your roadsides will be less of a drama. Hope the engine miss is the alternator. BTW the "clocking" on alternators is a problem due to unqualified folks assembling alternators to stuff in Oriely and AutoZone boxes. Keep wrenching...
Good afternoon wish I had known yall was in Michigan I could have came and helped yall out when you needed help thanks lonnie's dj service from bad axe mi
