The little rails on the sides of stairs are a psychological deterrent to stop people from walking off the side and on the grass. The rails at the bottom of the stairs are there to stop people from skating it. An old school skate blocker.

Those rails at the bottom of those stairs in the last clip, probably to actually stop bikers etc from riding down the stairs. Forcing them to walk, I’ve seen gates like that to force you to walk a certain way, or keep bikes out of skateparks.

I’m part of the younger generation , I can appreciate his older work. But I’m not a fan of his newer stuff. He for sure created his own filming style and a lot of younger filmers copy that shit.
