I saw a robot in Beijing. It was scanning products. First second I was amazed by seeing a robot in real life. Second later I got annoyed because the thing was in my way. Having robots walking around is going to be hilarious
Its an interesting idea, but I don't think "they" would. Think about it, if they can use AI, and the internet, they can understand the reasons behind developing robots in the way we do, even if it's not efficient in their eyes. Another point is they don't really have the ability to form a "new" opinion, they can connect facts together, but not generate a new fact without being based on human knowledge if you know what I mean?
They will calculate that it was a necessary step in advertising their appeal to humanity on a necessity level, and will be appreciative for the vector of their future evolution.

@@lexlayabout5757 Y’all realise that 1980s sci-fi film were, get this, someone’s rough, usually scientific prediction for how the future could look, right? And obviously we then get inspired by the media we enjoy, so it only makes sense for this outcome to happen.
Great cars, but I really love the buses, love the robots, and the "the future should look like the future" direction. The future is one where humans are managers of fleets of robots, drones, and AI programs, and it will be a better, cleaner, healthier, and less stressful world.
I would be a lot more optimistic if Elon hadn't started supporting a facist, climate denying, lying idiot who wants the future to be the opposite of this.
100% bro, we’ve not been put on this planet to work and do menial, unimportant tasks. This includes labour; jobs that don’t have intrinsic value to us, driving for hours a week, and honestly so much more that we don’t even think about. Being able to free up our time and energy, both mental and physical, will allow us to live in a time of great intrinsic value. Truly amazing times we live in!
A better, cleaner, healthier and less stressful world... If Elon is really after this, why is he supporting the politics of a guy who's striving for the opposite?
I watch it as a tech demonstration for Tesla, not taking all literally. As the Bot, we still have vacuum cleaners being sold, even with autonomous ones available.
Their intention is genuinely to sell these. Our world is designed to interface with general purpose humanoid biological machines (humans). Creating one automated machine that replaces the human, instead automating every single tool individually, is a lot more doable. E.g. automating a knife alone would be a significant portion of the cost of a general purpose machine that can use existing knives to automate this task. Also if you buy one as a guide for blindness, you automatically also recievd an automated vacuum system...and any tool originally designed to interface with humans is automatically now potentially automated.
Too bad they are all being tele-operated. Someone is controlling its actions via a VR headset/hand tracking rig. Hence it seeming incredibly human all the time.
@@blockfifteen Source? I don't think they even look that human, like it's not bad but if they were teleoperated they would probably do a better job at it
That robovan looks sick. Would be sick if they would mass produce and offer them as a teleoperated version for public transport even before their FSD is allowed to be unsupervised. would love to see my area's old, huge busses replaced by a fluid swarm of those.
@@StevenWhyte-c4l Ground clearance is indeed an issue - unless they can raise themselves like many current busses can. As for 20 passengers I think it's not a bad choice: it doesn't directly compete with existing larger buses and is more suitable for less frequented lines or times where fewer passengers travel. Think about it: many busses travel half empty most of the time. If you could supplement conventional busses with the Cybervan it would probably make good sense.
@@howyanow4810 nah, WFH has plummeted office space requirements. I visit my office once a week and 80% of the seats are always empty... I don't think the demand for office space is gonna increase to that level anytime soon
Well, even if EVERYONE decides to use robotaxis, they will also have to be parked somewhere. They won't run literally 24/7. So there could be less parking spaces, but you'll need parking spaces unless you want them to be parked in the middle of the road.
@@bojanbajgoricsantic2877very true. I think if they are robotaxis, we could just send them away from prime locations to wait in a large structure in an industrial area. Leave all the good locations for people. Instead of how it works now, where the parking is close to all the fun places
The dancing expo was pretty neat, but I don't think they're at the level of dancing that Boston Dynamics have reached yet. Then again, their humanoid robots are being advertised for different applications than Tesla's.
@@softwarerendering You realise Tesla’s are capable of driving themselves already, right? If you want to experience something similar to this TODAY, it’s already possible. But have fun living in doubt, seems like a fun way to live.

To Elon Musk and the Tesla Team: The unveiling of the Robotaxi is yet another marvel of what’s possible when vision and relentless pursuit come together. This is half baked, not ready. Show me the robot making a sandwich, washing dishes, mowing the lawn etc... I've been seeing demos BETTER than this for 20 years.
"We really like the name iRobot but we that has some bad connotations.... any ideas?" "What bout instead of iRobot... WErobot! That way no one will remember Will Smith almost being killed by robots" "Perfect."
The thing to remember is they weren't inherently evil in the movie. A higher-level AI corrupted them. Which would be akin to letting an OpenAI control Optimus (all of OpenAI's founders except for the shady CEO have left).
KEY WORDS THERE.. “Risks of super intelligence 80% probability of a good outcome “ I’m not taking away from how amazing this is. But we have all seen I Robot movie, or the theme where AI takes over a robots thinking and they take over the world. Remembering these Robots are far superior in thinking abilities and being able to learn. Elon may produce them for good… but there are others that would try to use them for other reasons…. We cannot deny that. This just frightens me
The beauty of this is it allows everyone to educate themselves! The reason we are in the boat we are in is because of the education system to begin with! Now with education at the finger tips of the individual it is just a matter of time before the intelligent self educated start to help those less educated in the hopes of directing them into a better life! Those who can not educate themselves or who neglect themselves will find themselves in assisted living or some other type of system to care for the less fortunate which is fine! There is absolutely nothing wrong with raising the quality of life for everyone no matter the disability! Cheers to a future of bliss! ♥
The future cities are less car-centric, have less parking lots and more parks. So, basically, you want to make your American cities to look like European cities. The future is Europe.
Our largest city is New York City which isn't car-centric... so no, not Europe per say. And America is, and always will be built different. It's a massive country. Over twice the size of the EU with a fraction of the population. Distance is just a thing here. He isn't taking cars away, he's replacing them with shareable cars, thus reducing the quantity in-use per capita... there's a difference. And as smart as he is, the parking lots are going nowhere. People here will still want their own cars, same as they want their own guns and there will just be these replacing the cars some people couldn't afford in the first place... And where are they going to park these 100 million self-driving cars during the 68/168 hours they aren't in use...? In a parking lot...
There based on people in VR head sets and teleoperating them, I don't know If that's how they move after training or if people behind the scenes are operating then for the event but that wouldn't be different from when Steve jobs reveled the original iPhone and it was completely faked but either way tesla has make amazing progress in 3 years.
xAI is completely owned by Elon Musk; it simply ran an early pre-sale. I purchased around $10k in xAI today and have it safely stored in my trezor see you in 5 years??.
I honestly think xAI is the safest bet for long term hold, and will survive out of every other altcoins. It will get adopted in US, Ecuador, Asia, starting from Japan, and slowly spread out and gain. This is a winning coin, apart from all the technical greatness.
@@EidakoYour concept of a living wage is inherently flawed. There will always be jobs that humans are uniquely capable of performing. Just like you don't need an elevator operator, you don't need a switchboard operator or someone directing traffic. These high repetition low-skilled jobs will get replaced just like the ones I listed. It's not a big deal. It's not the end of the world. The amount of value humanity can create is infinite. You're acting like the number of dollars in play is finite.
Elon's "I am iron man" ish moment. Loved the show and the vision. As a robotics engineer, I appreciate his confidence in Autonomous Driving as an implementable framework.
@@notmewooshme9916 Damn don't even know me and being this condescending. No shit ev's won't solve the carbon footprint. That issue is mostly solved with sustainable energy, by far the biggest factor. Which Tesla is also involved in.

And then when they dont want you to be able to travel they can remotely turn off the car and giant companies own these "flocks of cars". Sounds great.....
Basically they’re launching autonomous taxis with 3 and Y next year and the taxi won’t be seen until ‘26… maybe longer because of the steering wheel rules.
Depends who is elected in November. Tesla will probably be bankrupted and sold to democratic friendly companies if Trump doesn't win. Days of elons companies getting a fair shake by the government is long gone. Even if they removed the steering wheel law, each company would go through a approval process and they would make sure tesla never got it.
xAI is here for the long-term. Getting in early is one of the very few things where I would be pretty sure on 20-100X even this year still. And usually you can't ever make an estimate like this but what could go wrong on this thing?

That looked like a rubber skirt at the bottom, not the bottom of the vehicle, will help efficiency to keep air out from under the vehicle (some trucks use the same design) and can deform out of the way when necessary
Optimus will transform daily life for disabled people. Robotaxi will democratize freedom of movement for those who cannot drive. Optimus + Robotaxi will enable hourly humanoid rentals. We are creating a future of autonomy/independence/abundance for all!
Exactly. I bought FSD to support the effort because my mom is getting scared of driving. She rides the subway in the city, but the lack of facilities for them make it unsafe. Can't wait until she I can get her a Cybercab. Also to get her an Optimus.

Elon: AI is currently the biggest threat to humanity Also elon: Let’s put them into our houses. I dunno what this guy is trying to do? Is it only PR that when other companies are ahead, then AI is a threat. And then he has the audacity to come up with things like this!!!
He and others have said they have two options: 1. Sit back and let others control the direction of AI, or 2. Help guide the direction of AI to ensure it's approached in a safe manner. What do you want him to do, not be involved in AI at all and let others guide it towards danger?
@@M98747 What makes you so sure that Musk is not guiding it towards danger? As others have said before _Musk is not your friend!_ He is a megalomaniac who has monkeys tortured.
He’s literally stated that it’s how AI is voted on. A lot more moving pieces in the background beyond the gizmos & gadgets. Americans are still battling at the idea of women having control of their own bodies.. imagine those old fucks voting on shit like this. We need a spokesperson for this stuff & I am all for Elon. @@M98747 Atleast, don’t start with putting it directly into houses as robots. First, do something thats truly benefical and solves a great problem, i know u’ll say what about FSD, but i’ve also experienced it, its not that good as you are constantly anxious about it to the point that 10k u invested in it seems to be a waste. Optimus is the thing I'm most excited about. Who doesn't want a robo butler? Offloading all home chores to a bot would easily save me 10+ hours a week.
Can you imagine having an Optimus to repair things, carry out time-wasting tasks, act as a secretary/scheduler, manual laborer for a home-based business, etc.? We’re about to enter one of the biggest productivity booms in human history.
A lot of the problems it aims to solve are US-specific problems. Places with good, efficient and punctual transportation like Japan and Switzerland do not have giant parking lots all over the place. That said, the autonomous buses and cars, as well as the optimus robot are amazing...

Awesome job Tesla. Best event yet. This event really made me feel the excitement I felt as a kid watching something like a new video game console announcement at E3. Wish I could have been there. Fingers crossed I get an invite to the next event!
Well… you could own 10 and let them make you money… think about THAT, that’s tempting! (Liability questions come to mind, but anything can be insured, I guess…)
I'm not sure why Elon was leaning into the "I, Robot" vision (1:13:20) ? As I recall that movie did not exactly turn out well with the whole robot in every home aspect. I don't know if that's really the greatest marketing approach.
Fast forwarded this to the end after several minutes of watching the same thing over and over. Certainly didn't warrant a 1hr 20min video. Tech on display was impressive and Tesla's future plans, what little of them we were able to glean from this extremely lightweight presentation, are exciting, but details matter and these were largely missing in action. I can certainly see why the stock markets were less than impressed. I feel that the so-called Model 2 is an important piece of the jigsaw so far largely missing from the picture, and one that would have a far greater immediate impact on the world overall when it comes to transitioning the world to electric vehicles. To me, Robotaxi, Robovan, & FSD in general, are the final pieces of the jigsaw puzzle as far as Tesla's personal ground transportation contributions are concerned. Tonight's event struck me as being premature, not too dissimilar to that of the Semi, Roadster, and CYBRTRK; timing years ahead of when it should have taken place.

they need to design a self-driving test course as follows: 1. road construction that moves to different parts of the course randomly 2. objects (simulated people and animals) suddenly darting in front of the car from off the side of the road 3. giant potholes or missing sewer covers 4. fallen trees or powerlines/poles 5. shallow water flooding 6. deep water flooding 7. non-functioning traffic light at intersection 8. cop pullover simulation 9. random debris not big enough to physically stop a vehicle but large enough to do damage to the undercarriage 10. car-jacking simulation 11. icy and snowy roads (stopping and turning without going off the road or bumping into other cars or objects) 12. cars swerving toward it from other lanes 13. oncoming traffic 14. t-crossing navigation/etiquette If a self driving car can pass all of those tests 100% of the time, I would feel comfortable riding around in one
They probably could get close to doing all that on a closed course in the near future but navigating downtown LA during rush hour is the final boss of hellish driving. Then there's NYC but I think we've all pretty much accepted that'll need to be the bumper car version.
