Did no one notice Justin put Song of the Dead twice?

Recenty started playing, and this game starts to become an obession of mine. Thank you for all these great videos, and for giving these quality contents for the community.

It’s a cheaper but less efficient Shriveling that doesn’t require a second core set, has weird flavor upside and can be easily upgraded out: 😊 It costs 2 experience : 😢

Dark Prophecy and Olive made Song of the Dead fun with Jim. But Eldritch Inspiration made it ridiculous. 5 damage in one attack. Or 7 if you had two Eldritch in your hand. Sword Cane is one of my favorite Mystic cards. It isn't overpowered but very useful as a backup option in case your spells haven't come up yet.

Even though you normally say mystic cards are boring, I think this is the most fun video of the 4 until now 😄 Most of the reasons given for the least favourite cards are quite funny despite being fair, specially the part where no one notices Song of the Dead is listed twice!

Considering how many of the main mystic cards say “test Will instead”, I’m surprised the phrase wasn’t keyworded. Like how seeker’s mini quest cards finally got simplified to “researched” cards.

Thanks for bringing up geared up. Was a tough discussion for me back then. 😄 But yes, I totally agree on the ruling aspect. Having something like a wording bible explaining every phrase you might missunderstood would be very usefull.

Maybe they could make the flute cool with a future asset or even investigator ability like "reaction: when a card effect moves an enemy, deal 2 damage", and have a lot of synergy around moving enemies

I wonder if flute of the outer gods is one of the main reasons the curse generators (promise of power, Faustian bargain, etc) give out so few tokens. But then they made it exceptional on top of that, despite the class having no real methods of generating curses.

Surprise rules gripes, hurray. I was shocked to see Dayana on the badbad list, but i get Travis's reasoning. I still like the card itself, though.

What if you did like a "break the rules" deckbuilding campaign? Like just take sword cane in a rogue deck, or like in general just choose a few cards that "should" be in another class as well, and play them anyways. Seems kinda fun and taboo lol

Not done with the video yet, but I agree with you about Dayana Esperence.

I'm more of a fan of Empower Self than I should be. Hear me out: Empower Self with Well Prepared. Get +4 on whatever skill the deck saw fit to give you. I would've been willing to bet money that Dayana Esperance worked that way Travis thought it did. I'm assuming the difference is Arkham having a a tiny team compared to MTG.

I'm not quite getting Travis complain about Dayana? It always seemed obvious, that you could change the spell on her, but unless you feed her with extra secrets, say with Eldritch Sophist or Enrapture, it does not make sense. Because attaching a spell event to her and using only one secret on it is no better than playing the spell from hand, so with 3 secrets, one of them would be entirely wasted, if you split up the secrets 2 to 1. On the other hand, what would be the alternative to this wording? Attaching the spell when playing Dayana? This would require, that you already have the spell in your hand, when you play her. This wording lets you play her, if getting some damage soak is clutch right now, and still attach a spell later, when you draw it.

As the use of the flute is weak isn’t it’s main use to lock away curses added to the bag and then never actually be used? Everyone can play those powerful one shot cards cards that also cost curses (Faustian Bargain, promise of power etc) without anyone having to play a dedicated curse deck. You just need to find a rich mystic to seal all the curses in mid game 😁
