This car has no evidence of ever being in a flood. I just wanted to say this since we're getting a lot of comments regarding that.

Doug, why can’t you leave the backhoe hooked up while you are under the 🚙?
@charlieretro
@charlieretro 2 года назад
I don't get why people would say that when its mostly likely getting water in it from the old tail lights having cracks and letting water get in or because the rubber seals around the bulbs are gone.

First off, you know I have to mention Maverick, who is far from little anymore. I so enjoyed my son when he was at this age. Their minds are so curious and absorb so much in such a short time. I was always given the kids when I worked in ER as I was so patient with them. Children are such a blessing and a joy. I enjoy when you include them in your videos. Your homeschooling is so much more Ashley, as you spark that creativity and curiosity in them. That is hard to achieve for a teacher with a full classroom. You are awesome parents! Maverick was taking everything in, even standing and watching. I am noticing that you both are so much more relaxed as time goes by. You can feel the connection between you as you look at each other! More smiles, more humor. That is part of the reason I love watching your videos. Besides, this Ole lady still loves learning about how things are built and put together. I loved my nursing career, enjoy my multiple crafts, but somewhere in my mind I always wanted to do more DIYing. Sorry this was so long. Take care! Can't wait for your next video!! Forgot to mention that the dozer has been more useful as time passes.

I laughed when you said, " yeah everything is harder than we thought!" . I am 72 and you will find, the older you get everything does get harder . You will find your can do can't keep up with your want to! We always have the knowledge to do something but as you get older the body just can't do it. Get your nest built before you get too old to enjoy it! Lovingly advised ! 😁

.. Isn't that the truth. I'm 68 and hubby is 79, and we both notice the changes in our strength and stamina. Even the lids on jars can be the most challenging now. Forget about standing on a chair to reach things. We bring out our sturdy 3 step ladder with a handrail, and spot each other. Do it while you can, before you can't.

Speaking from experience, you should really consider replacing the engine versus trying to rebuild that one. Especially, considering what this engine has gone through. You've already opened up Pandora's box with what's done so far. Dropping the pan and removing the broken piston and connecting rod is only going to compound the expenses. With what you're going to spend with gaskets, timing sets, piston, connecting rod and your time. It makes no financial sense to try to save the engine. You're already halfway there, and have access to the backhoe, disconnect the engine from the trans and pull it.

I so agree with you Peggy. Doug and Ashley remind me so much of my parent's. My dad had 3 job's and one was building homes or as they say fixer up ones plus he was a master mechanic people came from other states to have my dad help with car or truck problem's. He also fixed all the trucks for a business in are town. People in are town came to see if he could tell them what was wrong with there vehicle. To top that off he was a purchase agent for a large company as a day job. So I see Doug as a master of many talents, I think Doug and Ashley could fix anything. ❤

Never get too old to learn and coming to your channel is like taking a class in school with hands on examples. Doug and Ashley you both are so amazing and blessed and the perfect couple that was meant to be together. You work seamlessly together and each of you know the next step the other is going to make almost without exception. This was amazing and I loved it as I used to and still do at times work with my husband on every project we do. Right now we are working on fifty five years of tools and gatherings of things over the years......the garage is getting overhauled so we can get rid of things and find things when we want them.........sounds like many garages across the nation I am sure.LOL LOL Thanks for the trick about the bolt.....I am going to keep that in mind. 🙂
