Think you knocked the nail right on the head, there is no such thing as an ideal camper of motorhome. We have two at the moment, one is a slightly bigger version of a romahome, 2 bench seats either side at the rear, kitchen and toilet, proper motorhome. Ideal for travelling, only 6 feet wide, same size as a large car, great for village, town parking etc. The next is a 7.5m motorhome with an L shaped lounge at the rear, its really a home from home. layout works well, however these only have a small garage, fixed beds have a higher garage, good for cycles etc. Nightmare to drive on country roads, best suited for motorways etc but boy are they good when you get to your destination. What i will say is more and more folk are going for the large van type camper like yours, its the best all rounder.

We convert (and perhaps more importantly ) use our vans. Starting with Bongo's, T5's and progressing to Peugeot Boxers and Crafters / M.A.N. Our first big van was a 6m boxer with a rear lounge. Lovely for the additional seating, but we just carry too many toys and crap to manage with a rear lounge....but I accept that they do suit some people. If you are not opposed to a Boxer, then an xlwb 6.4m gives you so much more space than a mwb crafter. Definitely worth considering. A lwb crafter / M.A.N is 6.8m but feels so much longer than the mwb and the turning circle is bad (but you do have lots of space). We had a lwb and loved the van, but did get stuck down some tight Cornish lanes a few times. Now we are in a MWB M.A.N (6m)....we are getting used to packing differently, but love the way it drives and parks etc. Its definitely a trade off that I feel is worth it. What about a Hymer MLT 580, they look good and not too big to be cumbersome. Glad your back making regular videos👍 Cheers Ed

My only suggestion for its 10p worth Chris - hire a few and see which one works. Before I bought my VW T6 conversion, as I was unsure what I really wanted - I hired a T5 from a campervan hire company - I enjoyed it so much, I came back, and visited someone that had built some of the hire vans. And bought the one I currently own.

East Neuk Campervans worth a look based at Anstruther Fife, quality is second to none and quite happy to accommodate any bespoke alterations you require. After sales is excellent, none of the hassle with larger companies.

Ours is mwb L2H2 with u shaped lounge at the rear and works for us. Built by Ribble motorhomes nr Preston. He also has a van he rents out but that’s an L3H2 so u get a bigger bed.

Considering you like Campers maybe take a look at the Wildax Altair RL, 6.36m long, has a rear lounge that quickly turns into a bed, is gas free, and is on a MAN chassis. I looked at one but changed my mind and went for a new 2024 Knaus Van Ti 650 MEG motorhome instead as I wanted a fixed bed and a large garage. Currently having it converted to gas free bit by bit.

We went from an Autosleeper Moho to a swift lwb end lounge campervan. Best move for us. Loadsa room. Single beds or huge double bed but plenty place to relax at back and watch the world go by. Winner!! Happy to share pics if you want. 😊

was up at clachtoll last week, with my grandson, the weather was horrendous, the walk up by the cottage you see on the hill, is a great walk, leading to clachtoll, with all the different colours of the landscape, an the water lillys in all the lochs, great part of the country, keep up the great videos!!

Ha, ha reminded us of a recent stop at a loch, weather forecast said breeze but think we were in a hurricane that night! Vanwise... check out Wildax, we have a 5m Pulsar with a GRP roof so loads of height and storage. We do not have a fixed bed and love the space it gives you in the day, no problem making up a bed! For a larger van to accommodate your furry friends, we liked their Constellation and Europa. Out of their dealers, Maple leisure, Hull seem to have a very good reputation. Consort also make a nice van. Happy choosing 🚐

Checkout the Wildax Altair RL (rear lounge) 😉 really good layout, super versatile and gives you the best of all worlds 👍🏼 Only drawback is it’s a little low on power with the 140bhp engine 😒

We went from a swb camper to a 8m long mh with a rear lounge that makes up to a bed, to be fair yous don't do much outdoor sitting so you'll appreciate a rear lounge, we do, somewhere to chill on an evening and when pissing down. Driving wise, isn't hard, watch the width more than the length 👍

Also i started with a t4. Then SWB LT35. Now got a MWB high top LT35. Which is a cracking size, but personally i think a LWB high top is the way to go. Crafters, sprinters, MAN, LWB i think are the best all round size of van. Start getting into motorhomes and its a whole different ballgame. The size, speed, usability, look, etc etc. But everyone knows what works for them.

After trying many different campervans and motor homes we ordered a 6mt Explorer here in NZ. Ford ranger 4x4 with motor home conversion. Best small layout in our opinion. They have similar in Europe

Started with a T2, then rescued a large husky so got a 8m motorhome which was to big. So been looking at vans and the best one for us that we’ve seen so far is the Autosleeper Warwick XL it has ticked all the right boxes for us but as you say everyone is different.

Can’t help you as we love the format of your van with a fixed bed, and have bought a six metre twin for exactly that reason. I think perhaps you need to design your own, look forward to seeing what you decide on.

We have a fixed bed 8.5m motorhome home absolutely love it until you go in to towns and narrow Scottish roads it’s then you relise how big it is the smaller vans are good all rounders and I’d certainly think about a 7m bespoke man tge 4x4 it’s the best useable size

Look at McLaren motorhomes they do a massive rear longe van on a merc or crafter ,we had a vw Karmann Colorado 655ti coach built lovely luxury but in all fairness a bit posh like a hotel room ,,I like a sliding door whereas in a mhome your either in or out

Get yourself a nice piece of steak, cut into bite size pieces. Air fry for 8 mins, melt butter and garlic in a pan. Then over the steak bites 😋 easy and bloody delicious 🥩

Cats are pointless, caravans are just the same as spending time in the shed, people with yappy small ratdogs should be examined, and next week you need to discuss how people who have food underdone…. Like pink bacon should have their hard drive investigated by the Sherrif!! 😂

I am a motorhome man and know you are not keen, but the extra space is worth it and you can get slimmer versions like the Adria, but for your adventures the Hymer ML - T Cross Over is worth a look.

We have ours on order for September. We are currently hiring one from Cool Campervan Hire Scotland. Picked it up in Sterling and are currently on Skye. This does have a fixed bed layout, so not sure it's for you. However, it is designed for off-road and off grid with Solar and Lithium pre-installed.

@@peterlethbridge7859it has fixed bed and the upright seats but thought they might like the extra payload garage and 4x4 I think the perfect van does not exist even self build…I bet you can’t wait to get yours. I did not know you could hire them I will take a look, I imagine not cheap 😂 Edit…just looked from £1200 a week, considering it’s a £140k to be expected

I've had plenty. Started with a VW bay window camper. Sold it got a car and a Romahome it was demountable. Then bought a Talbot autoslpeep sold that bought a dethleff 7.5 metres long. Was a pain in the backside having the overhand behind the back wheels. Had a bongo it was great but too small. Would love a pickup 4x4 with a demountable on the back. Can go off the beaten track and have the space. I own a 6m long motorhome with a u shape rear lounge at the moment. It's a great layout for me as the times we enjoy most when using it is the winter. We spend more time in the van while it's raining. It's slightly winder but it fits in a parking space just over hangs a little. I like this van it's old now but been very reliable and can't find one with the feel of space this has the same size to replace it with. 😢

Guys, if your thinking of going to the Mach loop, go mid week. The RAF only fly Mon to Fri. God help us if we ever go to war. Also if you’re there, check out the Cader idris it’s a beltin walk and you will love the views. Plenty to see and do in the area. If you need more if info let us know.
