Quick tip for the future excursions in the South in the summer: wear a nice thin white shirt or light T shirt (maybe a Buccees!) You'll be more comfortable. Black shirts will soak up the heat. Glad you had fun though!

Shaun, I'm so happy for you that your trip to Atlanta allowed you to see that band perform live; the magnitude of the experience must have been overwhelming and the odds of it even happening had to have been astronomical! Just seeing the joy on your face while you were jumping around like mad with your Scottish flag/towel actually brought tears to my eyes and a big smile on my face as I was so glad to see you have such a great time. My favorite places in Atlanta are the Jimmy Carter Presidential Center, the Atlanta History Center, the home of Margaret Mitchell (where she wrote Gone With the Wind), Emory University, Little 5 Points, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the Martin Luther King Jr grave, Piedmont Park, and the Flying Biscuit restaurant for a fabulous southern breakfast, and Mary Mac's Tea Room for a very southern lunch or dinner. I hope you can return there during a COOL time of the year! All of Georgia is glorious in March & April when the azaleas & dogwoods are in bloom!

To save $ Atlanta and other American cities have a City Pass. It groups multiple attractions together for a substantial savings so you can have more money for food!😅 So glad you got to see Franz Ferdinand!

Stone Mountain near Atlanta is another place to go see, The High Museum of Art, and the Fox Theater. Fox Brother's BBQ, The Vortex is a must go to if you enjoy burgers, Buford Hwy is good if you want any type of authentic food from other nations. Hope y'all get to come back. Hey Shaun, don't plan to your travel to the southern states during the summer. Its wayyy toooo hot for and Scotsman. Come between October and May and you will experience very comfortable temperatures not just in the south but even notoriously home places like Texas, Arizona and Nevada. I grew up in San Diego and now live in Seattle. Places with some of the mildest climates in North America. I too am unaccustomed to the soaring temperatures that you've experienced on this trip. Honestly, the heat just zaps my energy and makes me lazy and looking for a place to sit down. I'm 62 and in pretty good shape but cannot deal with too much heat. My wife and I did a day trip up into the foothills of Mt Rainier here in Washington and the temperature was 20 degrees cooler just over 1 hr from our home. 82° in Seattle 62° on Crystal Mountain. Don't torture yourselves in that oppressive heat. ♣

How amazing that while you were exploring our fair country, you were able to experience something you'd always wanted to enjoy back home! I have always felt that these little unplanned adventures are what makes the entire experience so much more unique and memorable. Wonderful video! (Side note...while it's too late for this trip, and this may be something common all over the world, but there are often discounts when you purchase a pass that enables you to visit multiple points of interest. It's not worth it if you are only visiting one, but if you are visiting several, it can cut the sting a bit for the high prices for some of these sites. They usually include entrance to at least a couple of the major attractions, then a few smaller attractions are thrown in along with some discounts for local eateries. Americans love their discounts.)

Here's the thing about the Georgia Aquarium. One of the co-founders of Home Depot went to the Atlanta mayor and said.. I will give the city of Atlanta $250 million if you can cut all the red tape in construction and expedite all the permits so it can open in two years. The mayor went to the governor's office and said the exact same thing to the governor. They got the Georgia aquarium open in 2 years and 6 months. For project that size, that is unheard of.

Atlanta can be dangerous especially when it comes to cars being broken into when parked. There has been an escalation in crime even in nicer areas like Buckhead. I couldn't make out what you said during the tasting of the red cream soda. Barq's is pronounced like the sound a dog makes. They make really good root beer as well. A tip for another trip: There are a lot of touristy things you can do in Louisville, KY, the home of KFC, Muhammad Ali, the Louisville Slugger Baseball bat, and the Kentucky Derby, but you'll also be centrally located where you could make day trips to Indianapolis, IN, Cincinnati, OH, and Nashville, TN. Indy and Cincy are just a couple hours drive away each and Nashville is around 3 hours. That may seem like a long drive in the UK I guess but as you already know from your previous visits, those aren't long drives by US standards at all.

Shaun, thanks for setting us straight on the pronunciation of Carnegie--car-NAY-ghee, in that 99%+ pronounce it CAR-nuh-ghee. DUH! You may not know, but Atlanta is one of the country's most ethnically diverse cities, and its airport is the world's busiest, since it's a hub for transfers for a number of airlines. Anyone who's traveled should understand that what you said around 10:00 of not being able to see everything suggested. One thing I run into here when I'm traveling is that, because we have to plan ahead, trying to figure how long you'll need to do all the things you want to do in a certain city, national park, whatever, plus driving time, which sometimes results in highway repairs slowing you down. Sometimes it works out great, but more often than not, you give yourself too much time, or (more often) not enough time. Personally, I think you 2 do an amazing job of guessing it right. In case you're trying to remember, it was back in 1996 when Atlanta hosted the Summer Olympics. As you think back, which do you remember as being hotter, Atlanta or New Orleans?

Start hitting the Northern states and Canada in the summer. The southeast is fine in the winter, but too damn hot and humid in July and August. Chicago-land area alone is worth a week. You've seen how big the Mississippi is at the end, where it starts you can almost jump across it. The Badlands change colors throughout the day, depending on the angle of sunlight. Same with parts of Utah. Mount Washington NH is the first place to see the dawn in the 48 states. America is more than the Remnants of the Confederacy.

There are so many many places to see in this vast country. I was born and raised in Atlanta. I married a Tennessee man so we moved to rural middle Tn when we retired. We now live just below Nashville. I hope that you can come back and spend more time in the future. Both cities deserve more time. As do many other places you will have visited. Travel safe ..

I'm a complete wimp in any kind of heat. My sympathies. Sincerely. People in the south are far tougher than I am.

I've only watched a couple of your videos, and you have seen more of the US than a lot of people who have lived here all of our lives, so don't let the comments get to you. I've lived on the west coast for 30 years and never went to see the California redwoods. Been to Atlanta and never went to the Coke museum. You're doing beautifully.

I am so glad you liked our city! There are a lot of things to see and do so well worth another visit sometime. The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be in North America with Atlanta being one of the host cities. Might be a good time to come back?! I love watching your travels and especially to see how someone who travels sees my city. Y'all come back anytime! Love from Atlanta ❤

Here in Arizona it has been brutal! Temps have reached 119 for days and the nights have been in the 90's. We have had 125 days without rain and 26 days of over 110. You don't even want to know what our electric and water bills are.

You just keep being you. That's what people love. Trueness to self. Also, we are very similar on our spending . . food priorities. Kudos on the concert tickets! LoL God bless!

So glad you had a great trip (despite the heat and old hotel)! Maybe one of these days I'll be able to keep up with all the socials, Patreon, etc. so I can keep up with your travels and offer some Atlanta tips if you are able to make it back through.

Sad that you missed the aquarium, but with such limited time you would not have been able to see much, it is an all day trip there.

I lived in Atlanta for 10 years and, in my opinion, the best way to spend time is EATING! Never had a bad meal there. It's too hot and humid to be outside walking around. Spring and Fall are the best.

you need a place where you can list what things are in the city to see and do and people can pick their favorites once your subscribers have picked from the poll their top favs then you select the top best 3 or best 5 or best 2 or however, many things you wanna see and do and then you should have a notice of what's been selected and a spot after that where people can buy you tickets to what they want you to see so basically you make a poll of 10 things and you tell the people in the poll "I'm only selecting the top best 3 picks" and then people pick and after that, once the poll is done you tell people "these are the 3 top picks that we will visit when we arrive in wherever and if you'd like to buy us tickets to these places here's the information on how to do so down below" or whatever and bam it's all neatly organized and done and if no one buys you tickets that that's ok you can pay for them youselves but only select what's in your budget of course! but maybe lots of people would love to buy you tickets somewhere anyway just an idea ok night

Atlanta is beautiful! I was there in June, living in Peachtree tower (you are showing Carnegie and I was there in that Peachtree tower) in downtown. I enjoyed the Coca-Cola muzeum, Human rigts, Aquarium, CNN Center... LottaFrutta and so on...

I'm flying out of Atlanta on my next trip to Edinburgh in October. I did not know the Scottish/Coca-Cola connection. That's cool. Anyway, I'm super interested in seeing your Savannah experience. It's such a wonderful city.

The aquarium is expensive for sure. It’s also so big you need a full day just for that.
