Okay so “Attack on the House” is next. The whole sequence. All 15 minutes of it. Split in two parts. So stay tuned for that… and Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

Awesome! Can't wait. Saw the movie a few weeks ago with the score performed live. Was blown away.

until i watched this movie again and saw this video, I would swear on my life that Trepak was used and not just referenced.

Always thought of this piece as if Copland had written Trepak. Definitely references the original, but it also sounds a bit like Copland's "Rodeo."

I've always heard Nutcracker with many themes.

Harmonic language sounds like Prokofiev

does that count as plagiarism? At what percentage does it count?
@LordMangudai
@LordMangudai 5 лет назад
It doesn't legally count as plagiarism because the Nutcracker is in public domain...

Ok so pretty much every single composer has been influenced from other previous composers

Rey Fernandez Jr yes so the question is at what percentage does it become too much
@reyfernandezjr

It’s hard to do, first of all it has to be a very similar melody, harmony, also rhythm, for example if I write 10 notes with the same rhythm as the first two bars of Star Wars but with different notes imagine.

Well, it basically sounds like a variationnof the nutcracker, so not exactly entirely fully plagiarized...per say

@@bradfrey oh hey, I had a quick question: on the tall chord areas with a whole bunch of instruments playing it, like the trepak motif, does that mean on the original sheet each instrument had those tall chords notated or does it simply mean that particular instrument plays the middle note, bottom note or top note? If that makes sense
@bradfrey
@bradfrey 5 лет назад
@@typo1345 Usually the notes are split amongst the instruments, where one or two instruments might be playing the top note, another instrument playing the bottom note, etc. This varies depending on context, but you can kind of assume some of it as well, especially with those octave stacks like in the Trepak motif (the bassoon probably isn't playing the top note, for example). If you ever have any specific questions regarding the voicing of a chord, just ask, and I'll try to answer it. I just don't notate it because it's a pain.

@@bradfrey lol thanks. I'm probably going to do an attempt at analyzing some John William scores I've gotten. Though probably after the holidays
