We're kicking off our Peru series by spending 48 hours in a DESERT OASIS. Huacachina in Peru is a real life oasis in the middle of the Peruvian desert and the adrenaline capital of Peru.

I love Peru! It is such a diverse country, it is the fifth most biodiverse country in the world. I just saw videos of the Peruvian Andes. Machu Picchu is wonderful and then I see a video of the only boiling river in the world located in the huge Peruvian jungle, now this desert!! Peru is fascinating! An important fact is that Peru is the 4th country with the most tropical areas in the world, only behind Brazil, Indonesia and Congo. The country is 65% jungle.

Aimee, you did well walking up that dune. I tried walking up one at Merzouga in Morocco. It is way harder than it looks. The sand is so fine your feet just sink back down every step. Especially well done after eating spagheti Bolognese.
