I feel like this could be made into a competition where they each have 25 in game days to build as good of a cult as possible and when finished they vote on who has the best cult instead of multiplayer being added since it wouldn’t work very well but perhaps being able to team up with people for purgatory would work

If you like games like this, roguelite where you can build permanent strength between runs and such, then I'd suggest Dreamscaper. It's all centered around dealing with the characters past by battling bosses at the end of each run (which are dreams) that embody certain aspects like Isolation, Fear, Negativity, Loss and the like. Also, quite a lot of fun weapons and abilities that reference other games, like Cloud's Buster Sword from Final Fantasy 7. During the day when not sleeping, you'd do the things that would upgrade your character while learning her story and her past.
