This might be the strangest hotel we've ever stayed in... it's a GIANT POTATO! We’re in Idaho and for our first stop, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to stay in a freaking potato! Yep, that’s right, this giant potato is actually a luxury hotel just outside Boise, complete with a spa-like, detached bathroom and a friendly cow that roams the surrounding farmland. This just might be the cutest and most unique luxury hotel in the world! 🥔

I went in that potato when it was on the truck. It was really cool to see. I live in Idaho and if you want the biggest and best potatoes you have to get them from a farmer. Potatoes from the store are not as good or as big. Have a good trip through Idaho!

At the State Fair in Boise, a vendor sells “Idaho Potatoes”, which are potato shaped vanilla ice cream scoops, covered in cocoa powder, slit open and topped with a yellow pat of something (?) sweet. It looks EXACTLY like a baked potato! Our niece had them at her wedding reception in lieu of a wedding cake!

The Burbank potato is pretty much the only variety of potato found in the US. McDonald’s found it made the perfect French fry and it makes a decent baked potato but the reason for the Irish potato famine happened cuz they mostly only planted one type of potato and a disease attacked that particular variety of potato so everyone’s potato crops failed for years. But other varieties were barely affected. That’s why I try to buy only heirloom potatoes. To me they have a much better flavor and texture. And hopefully those potato varieties won’t become extinct cuz most restaurants and stores only want the Burbank potato. Cuz once certain varieties are no longer planted they are becoming extinct. Burbanks are fine. I eat them when I get my In and Out burger and fries. But at the stores I try to buy other varieties. Thanks for your posts. Always fun as usual

Welcome to Idaho. The Idaho Spud candy has chocolate and coconut on the outside and chocolate marshmallow on the inside. We really don't get very big potatoes to eat here in Boise. They send all the best potatoes out of state. Are you going to see the blue football field at Boise State University? The state capital building is pretty amazing, my hubby worked there before he retired. They actually added underground expansion wings in 2006. Enjoy your travels.

The word Owyhee on the wrapper is an older version of Hawaii; apparently (somehow) 3 Native Hawaiian trappers were the first to explore the Snake River so they named Owyhee County after them. This is where the candy company got its start.

Found a 1988 Jeep Wagoneer for you in Shoshone, Idaho! Saw that you love these! $6000…the person selling it is Steven Fields. I was going to share the picture, but I am unable to. Jeep Wagoneer. Runs and drives. 4wd works like it should. Some electrical issues yet to be addressed, some windows and locks not consistently working. Starts right up first try but haven’t driven it much since getting it. Have new carpeting yet to be installed. I will remove listing when sold.

The Idaho Spud candy isn't made with potato, it's just made in the shape of one. I agree it shouldn't have coconut on it, just chocolate coating in the color of a potato. This video was super fun!! Great job.

Stanley is a great little town in the mountains. Also, Ketchum and Sun Valley have loads of history. Go to the Pioneer Saloon in Ketchum for a beer and share a huge potato at the bar! Find Hemingway’s grave and his niece’s grave also. Ride the gondola to the top of the mountain. The hotel in Sun Valley has a great long hall with so many pictures of famous people from the 40’s on skiing. Maybe get to Craters of the Moon…really a unique lava field with caves! So much to do! Enjoy!

0:29 the biggest potato I’ve ever seen is at McCallister’s Deli lol. The first time I went, order a spud, and they asked me if I wanted half or whole. I was like who wants a half of a baked potato? Then I saw the size of the full one. Good Lord they’re huge!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I retired out of the Air Force in Mountain Home ID. My adult "kids" and ex live in Boise/Meridian area. They like the cold and snow sports. I live in FLORIDA. Idaho is a very DIVERSE topological state. Craters of the Moon State Park in the northeast, Idaho City, Boise museums, Micron Technologies, The Snake River Birds of Prey (was a favorite of the kids -float trip through). Mountains for hunting, skiing, and rivers for floating, fishing and rapids. J.R. Simplot - Mr Potato.

My In-laws always sent a case of Spud bars in the Christmas package. When you take it completely out of the package, it does sort of resemble a potato. Also in the annual Christmas package was always a few potatoes, culls from a potato farmer friend. They usually weighed in at about 2 lbs each.

I grew up in WA. They are a commonly found candy bar. They got their start being made by the Idaho Candy Company and named after it being shaped more or less like a potato. It’s not my fav candy but it’s pretty good. I like coconut but not the marshmallow filling. They are pretty large for a typical candy bar

Y'all should travel to Wisconsin, the dairy state.If you do go to Waukesha,' Wisconsin there's a place called Jimmy's Grotto. The popular thing called a Ponza Rotta. or also known as a calzone.The next place in Wisconsin to go to is Manitowoc, Wisconsin. t's about an hour and a half away from Waukesha. Half hour or so from Manitowoc, Wisconsin is Green Bay, Wisonsin. Just on the other side of Manitowoc is Two Rivers. Check them out if y'all are looking for places to explore.
