We built a fake room in the middle of our production studio in New York. From the inside, it looked like a boring conference room, but we secretly rigged it with hidden cameras and special effects. We hired real temp workers to come in for a day's worth of work. They had no idea that everyone else in the office was an actor or what was about to go down.

This is what prank comedy should be, throwing random confusion, joy, and laughter into strangers' lives. Not the cruelty and bullying that often tries to pass as humor and "it's just a prank, bro."

Wow! An actual good'ol fashion prank with good intentions! Doesn't involve punching people in the face, dumping a bucket over their head, stealing their food/car, verbal harassment, etc. THIS is what a prank should be like. AND glad to see the temp worker still received full day pay for it.

Yup, everybody had fun, nobody got hurt is key, but where Improv Anywhere excels is by adding that sense of positive chaos, the reminder that the world and the people in it can be beautifully bizarre. Parties can happen anywhere, Indiana Jones can run from the boulder in NYC, and so on.

As someone who used to do temp work, I would have been so stressed while the party was going on. Like, "Great! I'm glad y'all are having fun, but they want me to do this mailer thing and I can't do it while you're all dancing and there's smoke everywhere!" (I wouldn't say it out loud, but that's what I'd be thinking.) I'm glad they did the reveal at the end.

A big part of the problem is consistency. The algorithm favors channels that consistently make content, even if that was once a month or something. But channels that have dropped off and only post a handful of videos a year or fewer tend to lose traction.

Was waiting for the boss to come in and fire them for not working through it. Reminded me of a day I temped at The Logic Institute (I shit you not, they make Love and Logic. Very famous training for kids). The most important thing was "do no use the internet." They did not say anything about on lunch. So they made MSN the home screen to tempt you. On my Lunch break I clicked a picture on msn of a palm tree for one second. One click . I was fired five minutes later. Apparently they just hire people to do human experiments on them for jollies. It's all a joke to them, doesn't matter if you explain it to them. Theyyyy are the logic institute so nothing YOU say is logical or REASONABLE because they're right about everything. Including that "manipulating people is ok." Nobody cares if you were desperate for a couple days of work to not starve. "Enjoy the psych experiment, I have $5 on you that you'll last until lunch!" Probably. Not to mention how unfriendly everyone was from the start. Talk about a place you can tell they all hated working at. FK the "love and logic" people.

I mean, they were temps, though. Even if it had been a real company, they knew going in that they were only gonna be there for a day, and get paid for a day. So nothing really changed, since they were still paid, though they actually got off early.
