Here we go, kicking off year 2 with Rue in epic fashion. She was so excited to walk, that she ended up sleeping for half a day afterwards :D

Hi! I am new to your channel and absolutely love the relationship you both have with Rue! I admire how she goes on walks and hikes and is something I've always dreamt of doing with my 2 kitties!! I have trained them to walk on a leash in bits at a time but I find it hard knowing the right place to do it as we live in a small apartment complex with not much room for training/walking outside. Do you have any tips in general for training cats to walk on a leash including the type of place to take them or anything at all that has helped you? Hey Andrea! Good question, as it’s definitely smart to start them off easy to prevent building a bad relationship with the leash. One tip we have that has worked wonders for Rue, is we put the leash on her and let her explore where she wanted. At first we didn’t try to walk her, as we wanted to focus on her getting used to the feeling. It quickly became a source of enjoyment for her and now she cries with excitement when we pull out her harness now. Small parks are where we started but maybe small exploratory walks in the building first is smart. We let Rue map out her surroundings before moving to larger areas.
