Are Bengali desserts too sweet? Yes. But imagine having them after having a spicy meal. Nothing beats that.

The history of Bengali Mishti goes back to a long time ago. We Bangalis cannot imagine a single occasion without mishti. Mishtis were always such an integral part of Bangali households that even uring the British rule, eminent Lords and other high profile British officers would want to name Mishtis on their names, like "Ladikini" was a tribute to Lady Canning. Throughout India people bring sweets to each others home during festivals but in Bengal wherever we go, we take mishtis with us, it is a sign of hospitality,an integral part of us. Buzzfeed has tried all the OG ones ,hope ya'll keep on trying new mishtis

I come from a place called “Tangail” in Bangladesh which is famous all around the country for it’s chom chom. I don’t like Roshogolla that much tho and I can tell you that our chom chom is not yellow at all in color and it tastes amazing as well. I wish you guys could try it.

Yellow colour is because of Saffron. Like Rasmalai. Few you will get yellow in colour, few in white. Also Saffron just not only adds colour, adds flavour also. But saffron is costly. So in West Bengal, you will get both colours. They are located in Mumbai and they got sweets from some famous Bengali sweet shop from Mumbai and I guess that's why the store provided them the OG ones.

As a Bangladeshi Bengali, i can confirm you, guests are get disappointed if any of this item is not offered to them. Rn I'm craving like hell after seeing this epi. Specially seeing Patishapta over there. It's not a desert, it fell directly from heaven to great Bengal. One thing the world should know that when we Bengalis eat anything sweet, it should be 10x sweeter than it should be. When we eat anything spicy, it should be 10x spicier as well.

Bengali sweets are too sweet ( I don't think so.. Sorry I'm biased) but our main course is spicy and full of flavors and stuff so the sweetness actually just balances it. I mean, come on you need sweety sweet Chhanar payesh (kinda rasmalai) after having khaashir mangsho (spicy goat curry) right?
