I remember years ago there was a Reddit post on the issue of ridiculing products "for lazy people." As a disabled person they saw some of these things as helpful tools. For example, precut veggies for stir fries, and even a lot of "As Seen On TV" products. I think this could apply to the trash can that automatically seals and replaces bags.

Like I can see the trash can and paper towel dispenser being useful, especially for someone with disabilities(spoons mean being able to just lift the lid and it's ready to take out would be a godsend), but the cost is insane. I also haven't finished the video yet to see how well anything works. The printer could also be useful I suppose but again way too much money. 14:42 Wait. Y'all actually have scorpions where you live? I've never realised they could just...enter houses just like spiders. That puts our massive woodland spiders into a whole new perspective. At least our spiders just scare us, and don't have the chance to potentially sting us! Horrifying. (Context: we live very close to a little tiny forest and a lake, so we often get massive spiders sneaking into our home. Especially into our sitting room on the ground-level facing the farming fields. They're absolutely massive beasts, those that get inside.)

first thing that comes to mind for a lot of the automated products is how nice it would be for someone with disabilities. i find myself struggling with small mundane tasks that a lot of people wouldnt give a second thought, and something like the trash can would be so nice where i dont have to hurt my hands and arms trying to replace the bag. idk, not always for lazy people. love the video!
@Bunnyliver52
@Bunnyliver52 11 дней назад
If you’re wondering why something super automated could be useful the answer is often disabled people! Trash can that ties off the bag and has tiny bags that won’t get super heavy? So useful for many disabilities. Sadly also often extremely unaffordable though.
@Sevicify

Same applies to those weird and seemingly useless kitchen gadgets, many are likely designed for disabilities but to make it profitable they market towards general consumers and avoid the stigma of being for disabled persons.

@@anisvadjian5142 my grandma was disabled very young. And I was a teacher's aid for "special ed" when in 8th grade. So I've been aware long before I was disabled. But, yes, many don't think about it. It's easy to ignore or blame disability on something the other person did. At least that I often see. I'm neurodivergent too, but late finding out. while these use cases are great, i still gotta question the astronomical prices tho. these aren't state-of-the-art prosthetics which a disabled person will use for life and grant them a level of mobility or dexterity that would be life-changing... these are still mostly minor conveniences that have more value for disabled folks. the question becomes... is the value of that shift from minor to major convenience worth a 1,000% markup? and when does it become exploitation of disabled folks? (probably if it is only marketed to them i guess)

14:58 That product was a lint/fluff/pilling remover originally so it’s actually doing what it was designed for. They’re at least 30 years old. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was a part of an old, old, old textile manufacturing machine and some worker had an idea and made one for home use. Btw. They cost almost nothing if you buy them as a lint/fabric comb in the sewing section of the supermarket or craft stores.

I want that digital measuring tape. Not a contractor but I do a lot of DIY Home reno stuff and 40 second adds up. When cutting tiles for example i often had to measure it several times since the walls and floor aren't completely square or level. Over the course of a day that 40 seconds is easily a half hour of my day.

I had nine wasps crawl through my house ventilation into my bathroom fan, I had to spray them with wasp killer and shut the doors so they died before they could get out. Tip for catching scorpions: They cannot see clear glass, so put a large/tall drinking glass over them. Then slide some cardstock/paperboard underneath. If you tap them from behind with the wall of the glass, they will run forward onto the paperboard. Then you can move them glass and all. I typically flip the glass right side up and give the paperboard a tap. They will then fall to the bottom of the glass and won't be able to climb up the glass wall. This makes for safest transportation. I get Arizona Bark scorpions in my home every summer, so this method helps me a lot. P.S. Mosquitoes also cannot see clear glass, so this method works well for catching them as well when they are lurking on your bathroom wall. With your hand at a distance because you are holding the end of the glass, they will not fly away. You can also use something flimsier like a paper towel instead of paperboard for them.
