We tour Liberty’s bird of prey centre and buy a vulture!

The hissing that little lad is doing is hilarious. I really like liberty's and I do go pretty much every year. Another one down here is the hawk conservancy in Andover, tehy have a great collection of birds and the shows are next level. Their Egyptian Vulture is amazing, last year we went on a warm day and she was 4000ft up! She came back down into the arena and looked like a spaceship re entering the atmosphere with her wings all folded up behind her.

Turkey vultures, love em! The only turkey vulture I work with has given me some of the nastiest wounds I've ever got from a raptor, purely from that game shear beak! She's an ornery bird, no one can quite work out why she's so spiteful since she was raised exactly how your little fluffball is. The centres been through a busy few years since she arrived and once she moved into her aviary she got much less one on one time than she did as a cute fluffy chick. They're a pretty family oriented and social species, I wonder if that's part of it. It could just be her personality! I still love her, she's magnificent. They're interesting and very intelligent, sensitive birds... So many incredible falconry and raptor enthusiast opportunities in Wales, my sister goes to uni in Cardiff... Perhaps a little roadtrip is due!

I rescued a barn owl that had hit a phone wire once it was sitting in the middle of a country lane in Sway in the new forest. And I took it there to be rehabbed. Months later they gave it back to me to release as i knew where it called home. It shot out of the box like a rocket

i was noting the protruding crop, and wondering if vultures have an 'oversized' crop, to allow them to really feed up on a 'find', as they might have a long wait between meals, being more 'passive' food hunters?
