I was babysitting an infant (who was just being fussy and teething) and asked my parents for tips because nothing was working on my "checklist". My mom was like "Oh just love on them, and lots of cuddles"- my dad however went into full on militaristic mode saying things like "RIGHT. Do they have something they can chew on? No? FIND SOMETHING THAT'S NOT A CHOKING HAZARD. They like music, PLAY SOMETHING CALM. And whatever you do DO NOT SOUND SAD OR AFRAID- THEY'LL KNOW AND THAT WILL JUST MAKE THINGS WORSE". Gave me a lot of insight into how they parented me lol. (this video was too adorable btw)

So precious! Babies are intimidating. I have one nephew, and then 4 nieces/goddaughters from my best friends. I babysat one as a baby and she cried for 2 straight hours. It was torture. My nephew is 10, but I've never babysat any of my goddaughter/nieces again since. Not cut out to be a parent. Don't have the patience. But I'm happy to be the auntie who spoils them and fills them full of sugar and then drives away real fast.

See, I used to be very afraid of newborns, and I used to really wanna be a mom someday. But between my two siblings, I've been blessed with 7 nieces and nephews in the last four years. Turns out newborns are scary in a completely different way and I think I'm pretty content to be the best Auntie I can be for the rest of time.

I have a 17 yr old son, and I'm an auntie, but I don't do much babysitting...lol I'm the kind of auntie that'll love on you, but I don't take no mess...lol my patience has mostly disappeared over the years since my own kid is almost 18....Auntie don't feel like doing no babysitting 😂😂😂

As someone who has changed a diaper since I was 10, and have babysat multiple times with my nieces and other kids of different ages, it always surprises me a little when someone has little to no experience with kids

I helped take care of my little brother when he was born. I was 8 years old. After that I did a lot of babysitting and working in daycares, so I've had a lot of experience with babies and littles lol!

I love how you ladies think the line on the diaper can tell you what is in the diaper or how much 😂. It is just a wetness indicator! Yellow=dry, blue=wet. It does not really indicate poop at all unless baby has diarrhea, and can’t really tell you how full the diaper is.

Suuuper cute, but this isn't a newborn. A newborn can't hold its head up, and handling a floppy head is a challenge all on its own! Also, this is like the chillest, cutest baby on Earth. Those are some A+ genes!

Well done, ladies! It’s hard work with a newborn. But it really sets in after weeks of sleep deprivation. Then things go to another level. Lol Honestly, you both did well; and, Jazz looked like a total natural. So calm and collected and confident and peaceful. She couldn’t stop smiling. Neither of them could it seems. I wonder if they will go on to have their own (one way or another) in the future. I wish them the best.

I am a daycare toddler teacher, I change so mamy diapers and potty training breaks a day that it has become second nature to just grab the child, sniff their butt or stick the tip my finger in their diaper. You guys did awesome for first timers, and as soon as they look up and smile at you, your heart implodes!!!!❤❤

Both of them referring to him as a "newborn" - he is definitely older than that! Newborns are scary, they can't hold up their heads or anything and sooooo tiny! But this baby is seriously SO CUTE!

Right. I was thinking that too. Newborns are 6 weeks old or less. This baby is like 4-5 months. Still adorable. Just definitely not a newborn. Personal opinion? Newborns are WAY harder because they are still adjusting to the world outside the womb. Give them a newborn for 24 hours and their tune may change a little on how enjoyable the experiences was lol.

Here to further analyze why I could never take care of a baby--as someone that's child free and doesn't like/want kids. I don't understand when people say a baby is "so cute" because it's not cute to me. I feel nothing at all while looking at babies, if not disgust or distain. I'm here to say that it's fine if you feel the same way as I do, and would rather YEET yourself off the planet at the disgusting high pitch screeches or silence the screeches by any costs. This is why I can't handle a child cause the screeching feels like nails on a chalkboard in my brain and I'll do anything to be free of that sound.

One thing I learned to not do when you have a newborn is do not kiss them on the lips when they're done drinking milk I was holding my baby sister and I burped her and then after when I was patting her back I kissed her and then she threw up in my mouth it was warm and it was disgusting do not kiss your baby newborn right after the finishing drinking milk or right after burping them wait until they throw up before you kiss them
