Yep - i get that big time. More than sad. As an observer to America (UK resident), there seems to be a OK to anything that brings you tv time or money. Lack of ethics and morals in how you relate to others. Car crash TV, with idiots at the wheel, and watch the victims bleed. Fubar.
The fact that he says he sees her as his "daughter" and then proceeds to constantly make sexual jokes about her and jokes about cheating on his wife is genuinely the most disgusting thing and the fact that he's being enabled by the show producers grosses me out to no end.
I think part of the reason Christy is so teary all the time is through relief that she *didn't* have a daughter with this guy! Could you imagine what he'd be capable of?? 🤮🤮🤮🤮
You say it "grosses me out" but it's more morally appropriate imo to be angry, not merely disgusted, here. I'm angry at the television industry that would rather chase "cringe content" with a camera, rather follow around exploitation and watch it passively, than pay for actual stories to be written.
@@naomistarlight6178 I thought my anger was pretty obvious? I'm allowed to be disgusted too and really I don't see how that's not as appropriate as being angry?? The two typically go hand in hand? Weird thing to point out but okay go off I guess. And the issue isn't just that they chase cringe content, they actively enable harmful people for entertainment, which is obviously, extremely harmful.
@@naomistarlight6178 hey person, I think you should do some self reflection. It's not okay to imply someone's expression is not "morally up to par". You're reacting, not responding. I promise, questioning your need to moralise others to the exact words they use will not make you a monster yourself.
"My interest in adult adoption came to me when this 18 year old girl came to adopt a puppy from us" Amazing that it only took one sentence for him to immediately look like a creeper.
Fun fact: In Victorian England it was common in gay couples for one man to adopt the other. This would allow them to share their surname as marriage wasn’t yet allowed.
It's also what they do in Japan nowadays, apparently it was originally a way for business owners to have a male heir and avoid leaving their companies to their daughters... Good thing the gays found a loophole
The fact that his wife is openly crying, red from crying or teary eyed on EVERY scene...says a lot...He doesn't even notice! He doesn't even care! He just wants to do his own thing and string that poor woman along... He wants to hurt her!
@@annavictrix Yup! He's also making her pay for leaving him the first time. He's looking for supply and making his bed to discard and/ or torture her emotionally.

yeah he was definitely trying to pressurize her making her feel like she was to blame so she shuts her mouth abt how he cheated on her with a 18 y/o and the new girl never finds out abt it
He also puts the pressure on HER to tell the girl about HIS infidelity! He's so patronizing about it too, like if I didn't know the situation I would have guessed that she was the one who cheated by the tone of his voice.
and we all expect everyone's sanity at some point.... BUT HEY THIS IS REAL LIFE AND PEOPLE CAN HAVE HORRIBLE ISSUES LIKE THIS... Could be anyone around you...

I'm mortified for both Christy and the "daughter". Imagine being pregnant, probably financially vulnerable, and feeling forced to tolerate this disgusting man.
@@bdp8102 I really hope so too! Being pregnant and seeing your adoptive mom being put in a sensible position barely even 24 hours since you came to your new home can be very uncomfortable.
He literally thinks he’s gonna get to live a real life porn fantasy and is so unashamed about it, this is all completely normal to him. I’ve never heard someone call somebody a “freak show” in the nicest most non-threatening way possible. His poor wife really needs to gather the courage to tell him he’s f*cking disgusting and hit the road
This is the realest take. I feel bad for his wife and obviously she needs to leave, but she's also allowing this to happen to a young girl. She's checked out to the point where her husband is actively harming other people instead of her.
@@nataliee5236 Wow... You're right. I was just feeling sorry for the wife. But she's watching her husband groom a young woman. She's been tricked, now she's sort of trapped, and it's almost guaranteed that he's going to sexually harass her. He pulled the exact same scam before. While the wife is a victim, she's also somewhat complicit in victimising ileana.
I was adult adopted and it was one of the best things to happen to me! My birth parents neglected me in a lot of ways so it’s been really healing for me to have loving parents. Its definitely not for everyone tho and the decision shouldn’t be taken lightly. Before she adopted me my mom had already filled a motherly role in my life and then she realized that she loved me like her own daughter so now she’s got two!
Let’s not forget that Ileana even publicly stated in one of the episodes that she only is doing this because she is pregnant and was facing homelessness in her native country. So Danny isn’t just taking advantage of a young woman and creating a dangerous power dynamic - he’s also purposely exploiting someone who is doing what she can to just survive and raise her baby in a safe environment.
I just really hope the baby isn't gonna be affected by all this and she can get out by the time her baby is there, i don't trust danny around anyone but especially not a baby
@@tidepodpadthai2633 yeah, and based off of the clearly sick things he said so far, I’m scared for the baby to face those things when they are born and grow up, especially if they would happen to be female.
Ideally, she uses him and gets out of there ASAP. It could end up being that the creepy guy really just got a potentially homeless pregnant girl off the street for a little while and no damage is done. Of course that’s ridiculously optimistic, but I hope they were just playing this up for ratings (which all reality tv does)
Funny thing is tho, in Austria it is almost impossible to be homeless unless you choose to be, we have an amazing support system ESPECIALLY for single mums, so idk why she would leave a country with free healthcare and a great support net to go to the US!!! to live with a creepy guy. Just doesn’t make sense 🥴
Poor Christy is a classic case of low self esteem and believing that she'll never find anyone else. YOU DESERVE BETTER!! THERE'S BETTER MEN OUT THERE CHRISTY!
Actually she deserves a wake up call. It doesn't really matter what her emotional state is, she's still complicit in this very obvious illegal grooming of a vulnerable pregnant woman because he has very clear intentions to become sexual with this girl and the wife does NOTHING. Being in an emotionally abusive relationship isn't an excuse either. She was already a grown adult when she married him so she should really know better. "I have self esteem issues" won't hold up well in court when she's named as complicit in this.
Multiple grown men, like Danny, as father figures have this false sense that younger girls are in love with them and think it’s okay. I don’t get how Danny is so blind to his wrong doings…
Nah big ed seems different.. dare i say he actually might be better than this guy. Bc yknow hes not going after BERELY legal adults... but thats besides the point both of them are different in way of expressing themselves. Like this guy says it in a very creepy way idk
my heart dropped when christie came onto the screen talking about her husbands past infidelity. she was desperately trying so hard to hide how upset she was by the fact that he was doing it _again._ she deserves way better, oh my god.
@Tatianna rpdr is my queen Unfortunately she may be financially trapped. It’s common in the US- I’m lucky my wife and I are in a healthy relationship but if something were to happen I wouldn’t be able to afford food or a place to live on my own income
This whole thing is so scary. In real life, ive met men, worked with men, decades older than me and ive struggled to work out whether theyre being parental or whether theyre perving on me when they cross boundaries by touching me and complimenting me a lot. It makes me so sad that i cant bring myself to trust these men. For this man to so blatantly abuse the father figure position is disgusting, he's gonna give that girl issues
That isn't cringey anymore, but straight up disgusting. Danny's anticipation of something happening sexually or physically between him and his potential adoptive daughter (!) makes me want to vomit. Whoever thought that it's a good idea to make a show with someone who's obviously a stone's throw away from being a predator should not be in charge of any show. Glad it got cancelled. I hope Christy finds a way to get out of this clearly abusive marital relationship.
The language he uses to distance himself from his creepy behaviors and to almost,, dehumanize these women in a way is so gross. Like, “I unfortunately developed feelings for this lady” is such a convoluted and manipulative way to say “I wanted to cheat on my wife with a teenager”. It’s also so obvious that he has some sort of incest fetish, so why is this couple being actively encouraged to go through this process.
Not to mention him asking his wife if she wants to tell the girl about their “marital problems” when he’s the one that caused them. The dude is a scumbag.
i feel like it's not so much an incest fetish, but more that he is probably a pedophile and this is the only legal way he can have control over young women. considering he wanted to cheat on his wife with a woman who was barely an adult, i wouldn't put it past him to want to mess with minors.
@@daria4222 I think people need to stop using the word pedophile when the person in question is very very far from pre-pubescent. I agree he's clearly a predator though.

I only know that you deserve better, you don't need a person like that in your life, somebody who doesn't appreciate you as a person and won't acknowledge your VERY REASONABLE problems is not worth suffering for. I suggest reaching out to your friends and family, people who actually care about you (even strangers who have been in similar relationships are ready to help with whatever they can)... just don't stick around with toxic and abusive people, they are weak and they don't ever change. Im sure this is nothing new to anyone but its what little I have to give/offer. Hope u will be fine
That would honestly be the best way this could end. I’m sure there’s potential for a truly deep, familial relationship for Christy and Ileana, so long as they kick Danny to the curb.
The scary thing is how willing he was to sleep with her, and even asked his wife what she’d do if they slept together. But he never made it clear with the girl he adopted that he wanted that. She wants a family but he wants a young bride and she’s not even aware of that. What the actual fuck.
not tryna be rude, but why doesn't Christie divorce him?! especially the first time he cheated, she should've divorced him then, or at least signed up for couples therapy.
I feel so bad for Christy. She’s so clearly uncomfortable and scared in every shot, she always looks like she’s in the verge of tears. The part at 3:34 is just a perfect example of how fundamentally awful this marriage is. Danny makes a sexual joke and Christy is CLEARLY uncomfortable with it. At this point, a decent partner would apologize, a good partner would never make this joke in the first place because they should know that it would upset their wife. But Danny, the awful human he is, follows it up with another sexual joke. Danny does not care about Christy, she is his wife that he has only married so that he can brag about having a wife. I would not be surprised if there was physical abuse going on behind the scenes. With how visibly terrified Christy is when it comes to speaking out against Danny, I’d say it’s more than likely. The absolute worst part about all of this though is that we are seeing it. There were people who set out to make a reality television show about adult adoption who found this “family” and began filming them. They saw this clearly pained woman and her obviously manipulative tormentor and chose to film it and put it on television for the world to see. They could’ve helped Christy, they could’ve warned Ileana, they could’ve done anything. And yet, they chose to make it a show. It’s despicable how people are taking advantage of Christy, using her sufferings for monetization while doing nothing to help her escape the terrible situation she’s been put into. It’s been a year or so since this video was published. I haven’t heard anything about Christy’s situation since then. With the show having been cancelled, I pray that someone (hopefully a member of the film crew who wisened up to this situation) was able to offer Christy a way out of this situation. If anyone has any updates, feel free to share. I would research it but I don’t feel like it. If you are trapped in a situation like this in real life, please don’t let yourself stay trapped. You will always have an out, whether it’s through friends, family, strangers, or the police. There will always be people who want to help you, you are never alone, never. Even if you have no one to turn to, there will always be people willingly to help you before they even learn your name. You are not a burden, you will never be a burden, you never have been a burden, you are a person and you are deserving of help. Never be afraid to ask for it, even if you’re anxious or scared. You don’t have to actively be in danger either, if you’ve been abused, you don’t have to wait until your bloody to ask for help. Don’t let yourself end up like Christy, don’t let someone trap you in lies and abuse, please
Some people want to adopt a person who needs a family, some people have a sexual kink they're willing to share on national television while making their partner extremely uncomfortable.
let me get this straight... Christy knows Dan has cheated, she knows he took interest in a teenager, and she hears all the sexual references toward Ileana that Dan makes... Christy needs to leave. And by leave I mean kick Dan out
9:50 he's absolutely emotionally abusing her. "Their" marital problems was him falling in love with the last 18 year old. Yet he wants to her to explain to an audience as if she's also to blame despite her distress. This man has probably gaslit her into being dependant on him

I am genuinely sad that the show didn't end with Iliana and Christy becoming friends and kicking Danny out and adopting 7 more cats. I would have watched that show.
I would say "why dont they just adopt an actual child in need?", but I got not 2 minutes into this thing and said "No way, this guy does not need to be around kids like that under any circumstances".
danny definitely has a daddy/daughter kink, which is horrifying. i'm glad that they didn't have kids of their own for him to abuse, and i hope christy got away from him and is living a better life 🥺
Honestly, just from the title and thumbnail I thought it was some kind of kink thing with mutual consent involved which, while weird, I can accept as not awful. But this was a serious adoption and he was carrying more red flags that a general strike, which is significantly less okay.
I fear for Iliana's safety. She clearly feels herself to be in a situation where she is unable to provide for herself and her child, which means that when Dan starts making advances on her she will have to weigh rejecting him and being kicked out eventually against going along with it bit by bit and maintaining the financial stability their arrangement affords. I hope she has somewhere to go if she finds it necessary to leave that house in a hurry, and that she won't allow Dan to manipulate and pressure her into doing things she's not comfortable with. I also worry for the unborn child and I hope that Christy ends her marriage with Dan.
the horror of that man's smile. he knows what he is doing, but by involving christy and being very uncomfortably open about his "potential urges", he feels justified in doing it. christy asked him what the sign should say when they hold it up at the airport to welcome eliana, he makes BJ joke then says "you knew i was gonna do it" - it's very telling. he implies christy welcomed that opportunity for that joke to happen. and in his fantasy of banging eliana, he most certainly imagined he could easily blame christy because she was a "willing participant" in her adoption. "you knew i was gonna do it", he'd say, and thus is not responsible for his manipulative, calculated decisions and "christy this is all your fault so fix it." omg i hope he's been put on a watchlist since this episode aired.
i feel bad for that poor little girl getting dragged into some random couple's marital issues. all iliana wanted was a safe, financially stable place for her and her baby.
Lol! I know! And I'm not laughing because what he is doing is funny. I'm laughing because it is so absurd that he doesn't see the absurdity of it!! Poor woman! Poor women, both of them, having to face an absurd man and this absurd situation.
@makaithreads2261 that's hilarious. You're right, she is, but the sentiment is the same. She is in need of a support system that she is clearly lacking and she just wants security for herself and her unborn child, which they both deserve.
I'm fairly sure she was fully aware that she was exploiting a deluded old man's sexual desire. If she wanted financial stability for her baby, she'd have gotten a job.
I watched it the first time, I just... I just don't know if I can do it a second time. This felt less than watching something cringey, and more being complicit in watching a crime.
I didn't watch it a second time for this reason - I "watched" the video for the algorithm, but my phone emitted no sound and was face down on the counter while I was elsewhere.

Exactly. Like, how on Earth can they film all this, not tell the girl being adopted anything about it even though they can, and still feel like they are good people at the end of the day. Whoever was in charge, do they have no morals at all?
Okay but, legitimately, has anyone performed a welfare check on Ileana since this show? Specifically, the show's staff? Don't they feel any moral obligation towards what is essentially s*x trafficking???
So, apparently, Ileana was "rescued" by Danny's cousin. Christy wouldn't allow her to stay in the house, and the trailer Ileana and her baby were living in didn't have any heat during the winter. Sidenote: a long series of tweets made by a woman many months before the show aired revealed Danny was openly telling people he was attracted to Ileana and saying very creepy things about the situation.

A sad part of history was that before gay marriage was legal in the US, the older partner in a gay couple would often adult adopt the younger one as a way to ensure legal recognition as a family and get the benefits that come with that, like inheritance, hospital visitation, and insurance coverage. And the tragic irony was, once gay marriage was legalized, many of these couples could still not get married due to state incest laws. So that's a really messed up part of history involving adult adoption, as opposed to this, which is just a creepy guy trying to fuck a younger woman.
I appreciate you pointing out that there are normal reasons for adopting an adult child; people always look at me weird and ask a lot of uncomfortable questions when they find out my older sister was adopted at 19 like “she was an adult at that point why did she NEED adopted?” Like bc you don’t only have a family til you hit 18, and they play a pretty important role in your adult life. My sister lost her dad as a baby, was taken from her mothers custody at 8 when she tried to trade her for drugs, and spent the whole rest of her childhood functionally as an orphan getting tossed from one bad situation to another. She and I met in high school and eventually got a starter place together. We bonded like you would with a natural born sister, platonic but very close, and when my dad and stepmom found out about her snd agreed they’d like a bigger family they decided to adopt both her and her little brother who was around 12 to give them a loving family. My family always treated them like they were natural born members and it was a really good situation she wouldn’t have had it we’d been too put off my adopting an adult.
Adults adopting adults is very common over here in a lot of European countries where aristocracy is still a thing. Especially celebrities with a lot of money get adopted from aristocrats who actually don't have a lot of money and sell their titles via the adoption.

I worked as a PA for this show and it was such a strange experience. They asked a lot of the crew to wait outside for the interview scenes, and Danny had a TON of huskies in his backyard (he said he ran a husky rescue). Christy also kept making jokes about adopting members of the crew, which just made the experience pretty uncomfortable. They were more or less pleasant in the limited interaction I had with them, but seeing the show afterward was BIG YIKES.
Did he like... work the huskies at all? Keeping huskies outside in a kennel-type environment isn't uncommon due to their destructive nature and ability to escape out of Anything. I don't like it personally, but it isn't necessarily abusive itself. But it's *highly* concerning if he isn't working them nearly every day- those dogs can and will lose their minds without being able to work. And rescues tend to try and keep dogs sane and healthy. I really hope those dogs aren't being used as a puppy mill operation. That's my immediate concern, especially with him stating that he met the first girl he tried to adopt while selling her a puppy. Edit: Plus husky puppies are extremely cute and are one of those "fad" breeds. I can only imagine that part of his game might be to lure younger women in with puppies...
