That twisted tree that you came across was really pretty. I’d like to see it in full bloom in the summer. And I know who makes the food 90% of the time and it’s not Tod. Lol 😂
Mike!! That pie………just beautiful! I’m sure it took you hours to make!🤣😂 And seconds to eat! Guy definitely doesn’t like to stop on your walks. And I laughed so hard as Piper picked her way through the little creek avoiding every bit of water and Guy…well, he’s a tough boy…he’ll let his paw go into the water🐾🐾. He IS emotional but that just means he’s in touch with his feelings! Lol! 🐾❤️🐾 Another great video, and those natural rock bridges were amazing!!
I'm pretty sure Mike wouldn't know the first thing about making pie even though he's watched me make hundreds haha Piper was showing off her brain power by choosing the best path across the stream♥️ Guy is just a guy and didn't care LOL
Truly, what a fantastic find! Those trails and natural rock features are sweet! "Making more room for beer, for sure..." Lynn, you rock! Safe journeys, WanderWags!
I'm realizing that there is a lot to see all over this country, not just the usual touristy spots. The RVs and campers make them available to us. Nice job.
Well that is one way to avoid the rain, let it snow! Not many people willing to brave the winter camping weather (except for the tent campers). Thanks for the great video.
The off season and Winter is where we shine!🤩❄️ it's our favorite time to explore new places for sure, especially up North where many don't brave the elements. It's way easier to hike and explore in the snow than rain😂
Wow awesome!!! Beautiful place!!!! Dont go in the Cabin in the Woods!!!! Lol! Nothing beats a cold one after a nice hike!! Nice job on the Pie! Looked delicious! Stay safe you four!!!!
We love to show the unexpected places that people might not know about. Definitely check it out because we really did love it! If you go in the season you'll get you explore more than we could due to bat hibernation
10:45 Lynn looks like she has walked maybe 50 yards, Mike on the other hand, looks like he's suffering on the final mile of a marathon. Nice park and good video, thank you.
Awesome park for hiking 👍 Definitely different then the flat lands of Eastern Iowa! Good looking pie Lynn😁 Mike seems very handy but not in the food department, well except the eating part, very handy there🤣
A late welcome to Iowa. Another spot that you might like is Ledges State Park (central part of the state.. Boone Iowa). Lime stone bluffs with trails, water that flows over the road at different spots (during the summer the kids like vehicles to go just fast enough to make waves/splash). Also a very good BBQ restaurant close by.
Thanks for sharing all the awesome hiking scenery at this campground! That’s definitely the kind of place I’d like to visit some time. Bonus too with fall and winter hiking - you get to see some of the hidden things like the creepy cabin! 😁
We agree! I actually like to be able to see through the foliage with off season camping. We can see a lot of things that get hidden in the trees/brush. They both have their points but I think I'd rather hike in the snow than rain😂 just wait until you guys can go year round with us!👏🏻
It is getting to be about time for the snow to start following you instead of the rain, and definitely better for walking and hiking! Yes, can’t wait for easier cold weather camping with you guys - we are researching again 😆
There is no doubt in my mind that Mike did NOT make that pie since I don't think we've ever seen him cook anything in the microwave/convection oven. As to getting tore up, you go for it Lynn, just don't drive (I'm pretty sure you wouldn't). One thing you might think about doing is writing a book on hidden gem campgrounds, you'be been to a few. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Mike made a frozen pot pie in the convection once before😂 with help of course. I've been trying to get him to do his own cooking segment for years! Never thought about a book🤔
I take it campgrounds don't shut down in the winter? There's only a handful of SP's in PA at least around me that are open all year. My nippies can't take the cold anyway. ; - )
Real cool video guys...good stuff and u guys were only 3 hours from me. Next Spring when I get my rig we'll have to catch up on one of your group camp outs.
Mike had that look like I’ve had when he said “it’s 10:00 we need to get going”. However, once outside and moving it’s a good time. I think after seeing this video I’m now going to say l’m going to Iowa. I agree with Lynn, it reminds me of Ash Cave
They are doing great! Expect updates in our next few videos regarding liquid spring as well. So far so good! I think they said they are working on it for your chassis but it's not complete yet
Good looking spot for a random online pick. I liked the looks of Guy’s and Piper’s jackets. Are they good for a Northern WI winter? Our baby is just like Piper size and coat…
We JUST upgraded Piper's jacket, same brand but one size bigger since this one was so tight on her and her muscles were popping seams lol it was a medium, we upgraded to a large.
Great video guys I enjoyed it as always 👍👍 .. May I ask do you have any recommendations on a brand of gimbal to buy for a iPhone ? I wish you both a safe and happy camping trip
We don't use a gimbal for our phones. Everything is recoded from our hand and I do use a tripod for ergonomics and stuff but no stabilization outside of the phone itself. We never used a gimbal for our iPhone 12.pros or our current iPhone 13 pros. Hopefully that helps!
Natural Bridges just amaze us every time we come across one as well.. It really looks like you guys found a little hidden gem of a state park too! The only thing that got tore up was Lynns amazing pumpkin pie by Mike! Lucky guy he is! I just love your amazing getaway! 🇺🇸👍
We used to tent camp there with our boy scout troop around the year 1999-2001 period, but the park became so popular we had to start camping at the city park in Maquoketa in order to find a camping spot as the group camping was booked years in advance at the SP. Our troop was sponsored by our local church in Winnebago, IL which was closer to my aerospace work in Rockford, IL. I sure wish I was into RVing back then as tent camping with a dozen snoring adult leaders was from a different perspective, lol.
@@WanderingWagners The first year we called the 800# and left a message, they called right back and we had a reservation, no problem. The second year I called & left several messages, got no callbacks. Since it was a several-hour trip I took Friday off to get there early to secure our spot. When we got there I figured they must be empty because it wasn't worth calling us back. I guess they thought we'd get the message if we didn't get a call back that they were way full beyond belief ... so we went to the city park where a giant mound there allowed overnight tent camping, it only took hours to figure out how to pay and so on as you know how small municipalities can be run. The good news is we survived our camping experience despite the tornado warnings on the second night that shrunk the number of tents staying by a factor of 4, lol.
@@WanderingWagners Yeah, so much for a boy-run program, LOL. This fall when we got done with camp hosting in Colorado we came to visit the grandbabies in the western burbs. We spent part of the time a Paul Wolf county park near Gilberts, IL, and some at the sister forest preserve called Big Rock in southern Kane county where they closed up on October 25th for the season. We then spent the remainder of our time at Rock Cut State Park just east of Rockford, IL until November 8th upon which they were closing for four days for a band of wheelchair-bound deer hunters, an annual event. We then headed south before they close for the season at Gun Creek campground on Rend Lake near Benton, IL, and then a Harvest Host winery in TN before hitting the FL state parks on way to the Keys for a week before coming back up to Winter Haven, FL for our eldercare adventure for the winter at a park we managed for six years. After we finish off in IL this spring it is off to Colorado again, this time Sheila is the manager of 16 USFS campgrounds for the concessionaire we work for, but instead of just hosting we will be delivering the firewood, doing the bank deposits, & dealing with the new breed of guests which think if they drive 300 miles without a reservation then we will have a spot for them, sounds familiar, LOL.
Dang! I didn’t know y’all made it all the way to Iowa! That park and hiking looked amazing! The pie looked AMAZING! I wanna make my famous Key Lime pie this Christmas but Alli is like NO!!! Says it’s not a holiday pie lol.
We loved this park! I think you guys would really love it if you're up this way. We will take all the pie! I'll make pecan and you can make key lime. As Mike says, it's always pie time!
Cool place! And it’s less than 4 hours from where I am in WI. I’ve added to places to camp next year. As for where to go next, I vote UP. The area up by Pictured Rocks is incredible.
Perfect distance for you to visit this park for a little getaway then! We do end up going to the UP but we decided to go a different direction than pictured rocks (not a big national Park fan because they don't allow dogs on trails) but we'd love to at least see it!
We were there in summer or 2020. The hikes look so much better in the winter. We’ve done our fair share of winter hiking and miss the seclusion. Our current TT is not conducive to winter camping but once we get our class a, we’ll be back at it.👍
We usually save the cook hiking parks for the off season! We like the seclusion and bring able to see further is nice as well. Plus the snow adds a little magic to it as well... The wind can go away any time but oh well haha
I work for ATT in cell site performance. You can text even if you can't make a call. Texting is done in the overhead messaging so it works with barely any signal. That is why they say to text to 911 in emergencies if you can't call.
We supplement with electric heat a lot. We have a small heater in the bedroom, one in the dump bay and even one in the bathroom when we shower. the radiator type one we use in the living room in colder weather camping. The electric heat cuts down on moisture and humidity inside vs the propane furnace. We didn't have whipped cream for the pie this time. It was made on a whim but luckily it was delicious without it! We will have to restock on whipped cream😊
I really wish I could win the lottery and roll along like my fellow Buckeyes, stay safe out there on the road. What do you think about the Renegade Explorer Erb, Newmar Supreme Aire 45 bath and a half, with liquid Springs on all four sides on both rigs?👍
@@WanderingWagners Triathalon watch? My idea of a triathalon is a 30 minute ride on the Lectric bike followed by a stroll to the shower house for a nice swim in the shower. :) Do you happen to know of anything I can just put on the phone that will leave a map of where you were hiking and figure the distance?
Great suggestion for sure! We will see what we can do. There's a few places with indoor pools that stay open and we do plan to be in Florida in January for a bit
Just Saying, For my 30 ft camper I have a radiator type heater such as Yours that works great, The only difference I can see is mine are beige where Yours is black.
Since your in Iowa, head over to Winnebago and tour the factory, plus Winnebago has been giving other utubers free RV'S for a year for promotional purposes, maybe you guys can talk them into giving you a Winnebago journey diesel pusher to drive around for a year. Then head to Wisconsin.
The Pie looks amazing But eating pumpkin pie 🥧 without whip cream is like to eat an apple pie without vanilla ice cream just doesn’t happen shouldn’t happen lol stay safe and healthy enjoy your travels
Haha we don't care about whipped cream for pumpkin pie (blasphemy I know😜) we can take it or leave it. I'll have to restock more because Mike tends to just eat it right out of the can then it's gone before pie LOL
lol Love videos you all stay safe me my wife are looking forward to be back out traveling when the weather is better although it’s going to be a long winter 🥶 here in upstate NY
Call and reserve your site if you can! You'll get a discount when you're in our group and it's always the best campout. 👏🏻 They are taking reservations!
