@@ApexHerbivore No Mountain Bike category under the sun is any more dangerous than doing 40+km/h over a belt sander like they do every time they ride on a street.
This was hilarious. All the giggles, the extremely manly “Oh gosh, oh goodness,”. Such a laugh to watch. Any channel crossover is always one of my favorites.
blake's explosive power is severely underrated, he also beat hank in the steep cobbled climb video, this is a proof why mountain bikers like mvdp and sagan wins in steep but short sprints in a road race. amount of torque needed to push the gears on rocky terrain is massive hence why blake won
I do both, and roadies could get very suprised when someone sprint them while sitting. They are used to stood up sprints and putting sudden 800+ watts while still in the saddle can really shock them.
the riders will more likely choose a sport which suits them physiologically, mountain bike racing requires sharp short efforts whereas road cycling is very much consistent power.
One thing I noticed when I rode a tracl for the last time was how cool the community was. They where very welcoming and fun to just chat with. It was alot like the MTB community. I'm over road rides and krits. Those guys dont care if they wreak each other (as much). I am looking forward to seeing the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paraolympic track racing at my local Velo center
The thumbnail for this video looks exactly like Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day. So much so that I thought this was a trailer for It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Very confused to find out that it’s not.
Rich and Blake have great chemistry, they're brilliant entertainment when it comes to challenges. I would love to see more budget MTB challenges, along with Doddy, they were hilarious
she already oriented the two about track cyling a few weeks ago that's why tehy're sharing the tips, and it's not like rich and blake are gonna compete serious track races lmao
Blake would have gone faster with a taller gearing, you can see when he was next to Connor the difference in gears. Now, for something new... try on BMX! :) Including the GCN crew
Imagine GMBN and GCN making a video further blurring the line between roadies and MTB by having GCN do an XC or even Enduro race and GMBN do a gravel race. Bikers should be united! Edit: GMBN doing CX would be great to see too
@@talonlan Hopefully Gravel riders are able to radiate their chill to road bikers as a whole though even without that, elitism in rbiking has been steadily declining, or at least more and more decent people are going cycling
If anyone ever offers the opportunity to ride on the track I can thoroughly recommend it, it’s one of the best cycling related things I have ever done, it’s brilliant.
"I've got gloves" ...(points to calluses) My kind of guy. Also, i think its cheating when Blake changes into a skinsuit and looks EXACTLY like a muscular track sprinter. Cheating! Also, id love to see the stats of who watches just one of the two channels, and who watches two or more. I will watch all the channels in english, because ALL BIKES MATTER!
YES! TRACK CYCLING! As a sprinter I use my MTB to cross train. I just enjoy going fast! Riding my MTB greatly adds to bike handling skills. Love seeing more track cycling across all the CYCLING NETWORK. Also, if this was on the GCN and no one knew better, Blake would fit right in as a sprinter.
That was proper cool. Please do more if this. And we should install Rich in the UCI board for new funny terms. Since everything is French in road/track cycling it‘s flingeur and flungeur. 😂
Love this, I remember going to Newport with mid-Devon CC, so much fun. I'm a MTBer first and surprised many club members. I must take my kids so they can experience the raw speed you get at a Velodrome
Great stuff once again! But now since you've got a taste of fixed gear and a penchant for stepping out your comfort zone, why don't you try an alleycat race?
I find it interesting how just the general muscle structure is so much different. MTBers often have significantly larger legs that can shove out gobs of power in shorter burst (kinda like body builder). Case in point, in the 'drag' race, Blake spun out, regained his footing (on a fixie, mind you) and STILL won. Roadies often have smaller legs, but can spin faster and for longer duration (more endurance athlete style). As a result, they can have their bike geared a little lower to compensate, so they can spin faster to hold 'the same' speed, but they don't have to produce as many watts per crank revolution. I recon, if you'd geared up the bikes just a touch, Richard and especially Blake would be right on par with the circuit racers over a lap or two.
None of the GCN presenters except for Manon are track riders though, and no one is even close to a track sprinter. Completely different ballgame, as both crews were kinda out of their comfort zone.
Blake and rich should try the Riders Republic game from Ubisoft I'd like to see what their reactions to the game. It should be really fun to watch them play
My first and only time in a velodrome, I face planted the track at the end of a best effort lap... DONT STOP PEDDLING lol... thankfully my helmet took the blunt of it and I got to race after a rest (with a new helmet - won by having the best and only crash of the day - thank you guys @ Team Midland).
Brilliant - I only started road riding when I crashed on a trail at night and separated my collar bone.. so needed something to recover, so now have a foot in both GCN and GMBN.. would love to see GMBN get Hank from GCN on a trail.. he's got the most bike handling skills and has some peak power too, so could perhaps give Blake a bit of competition!
